In this episode we answer emails from Katie, Sean, Glen, Anonymous and Kelly. We discuss our matching campaign for the Father McKenna Center (rolled out in Episode 426), the BOXX ETF and the Rorschach test it presents, direct indexing, Risk Parity Chronicles, and the real purpose of Financial Independence and how to win at retirement and life. Financial independence isn't the finish line—it's the starting point of a more meaningful journey. In this deeply personal episode, Frank Vasquez tackles sophisticated investment strategies while unveiling the philosophical underpinnings of his approach to wealth. He examines the tax-efficient BOXX ETF, explaining how it allows investors in higher tax brackets to potentially convert ordinary income into more favorable long-term capital gains. Drawing on insights from Alpha Architect's Wes Gray, Frank positions this strategy within the evolving landscape of personal finance technology, contrasting innovators against those clinging to outdated viewpoints. The conversation shifts to direct indexing—a strategy where investors replicate indices by purchasing individual securities rather than funds. Frank cuts through the marketing hype, offering practical guidance on when this approach makes sense (primarily for those in higher tax brackets) and when it's simply not worth the complexity. His personal experience with property and casualty insurance companies demonstrates selective implementation without paying unnecessary fees. Most powerfully, Frank shares the story that shaped his retirement philosophy—his aunt Sister Francine of the Sisters of Mercy. This "firebrand and hellraiser" ran schools and soup kitchens, challenged the wealthy to contribute more, and built deep community connections. When she died without money or fame, her funeral filled a cathedral with mourners—the ultimate testament to a life well-lived.What's the purpose of saving all that money if not to create meaningful impact? How might your financial independence serve something greater than account balances? Listen and reconsider what truly constitutes "winning at life."Support the show

Hey, Sister-friend
In this episode of Keeping Abreast, I sit down with Lynn Oberstein Feder, a passionate mother, baker, and wellness advocate whose lifelong health journey led her to profound transformation—both personally and professionally.Lynn shares her early struggles with chronic illness and the cascade of misdiagnoses and overuse of antibiotics that left her searching for answers. We talk about the toll of conventional medicine, the power of homeopathic remedies, and the critical importance of finding a provider who truly listens. Her journey to healing began with food—specifically, the gut-healing power of bone broth and a complete shift in her dietary habits. Through her experience, Lynn discovered not just better health, but a calling. Motivated by her daughter's dietary restrictions, she began developing nutrient-dense, gluten-free breads that eventually blossomed into her business, Lynn's Life Breads. We explore how food quality impacts the microbiome, why ingredient transparency matters, and how healing can happen when you return to your kitchen with purpose and intention. Lynn also opens up about the energetic component of food preparation, and how family-centered cooking can transform health outcomes—especially for children. This episode is about more than bread—it's about reclaiming your health, trusting your intuition, and turning adversity into empowerment.Key Takeaways:Chronic illness often begins with overlooked or misdiagnosed symptomsOveruse of antibiotics can have long-term health effectsHomeopathy and integrative medicine can offer powerful alternativesHealing often starts in the kitchenThe microbiome is foundational to overall wellnessUnderstanding food quality is essential for lasting healthFamily-friendly, accessible recipes can bring everyone to the tablePassion projects can become healing businessesListening to your body is the first step toward true healthBe sure to Rate and Subscribe so we can continue bring you these life-changing conversations!00:00 Introduction to Lifelong Health Struggles02:53 Lynn's Early Health Challenges06:10 The Role of Antibiotics in Health08:51 Homeopathic Remedies and Cultural Differences12:00 Sister's Battle with Breast Cancer15:06 A Lifetime of Misdiagnoses17:55 Finding the Right Healthcare Provider21:03 Turning Point: Dietary Changes23:59 The Impact of Bone Broth Diet28:10 The Journey to Healthier Bread Alternatives31:04 Creating Bread for Dietary Needs35:00 The Science Behind Bread and Health39:52 From Kitchen to Business: The Birth of Lynn's Life Breads45:57 Making Bread Accessible for EveryoneTo talk to a member of Dr. Jenn's team and learn more about working privately with RHMD, visit: https://jennsimmons.simplero.com/page/377266?kuid=327aca17-5135-44cf-9210-c0b77a56e26d&kref=vOKy0sAiorrKTo get your copy of Dr. Jenn's book, The Smart Woman's Guide to Breast Cancer, visit: https://tinyurl.com/SmartWomansBreastCancerGuideTo purchase the auria breast cancer screening test go here https://auria.care/ and use the code DRJENN20 for 20% Off.Connect with Dr. Jenn:Website: https://www.realhealthmd.com/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DrJennSimmonsInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/drjennsimmons/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@dr.jennsimmons

You “kinda” don't want to miss this week's episode of Hey Sis, Eat This, as we welcome special guests Julie Paiva, a talented screenwriter known for Kinda Pregnant, now airing on Netflix, and her wonderful sister Lisa. Together, they share a heartfelt and humorous look at their unconventional childhood in Northern California, celebrating the life lessons and creativity imparted by their remarkable mother, Momma Bibi. We rewind to the ‘80s, when Momma Bibi and Dad Michael divorced when the sisters were seven and ten. Bibi chose stability first when co-parenting, keeping her girls in their childhood home with their dad, while still fostering a close relationship with them through foodie filled adventures. Daddy Michael tackled single-parent mode with “French-Toast Thursdays,” microwave-cooking classes, and a very liberal kitchen-only cigarette policy that cured any teen smoking phase fast . A Sufi seeker who swaps small talk for theories on the nature of time, Momma Bibi raised her daughters on spiritual “square dancing” and Cheez Whiz with jarred beef on annual camping trips. Her trademark Bibi-isms (“blow your nose, get a little glass of orange juice, take two sips then tell me what happened”) still echo whenever life gets wobbly . Tune in to hear how Bibi instilled in her daughters the importance of love, peace, and connection, and how she encouraged them to embrace their individuality and celebrate their own unique paths. Also, make sure to check out Julie's hit movie, Kinda Pregnant, starring Amy Schumer, now playing on Netflix and her next venture, a children's book series launching with The Lucky Penny, inspired by Momma Bibi's DIY optimism. Actor Kelsey Grammer is known for his many acting roles, most notably as radio psychiatrist Frasier Crane in the long running TV sitcom “Frasier.” But behind the comic mask lies a lifelong story of pain and grief. Fifty years ago, his beloved sister Karen was abducted, raped and murdered. In a new memoir, “Karen: A Brother Remembers,” he writes of how the tragedy shaped his own life. On this episode of Free Expression, Grammer speaks with Gerry Baker about his sister as a source of joy in his life, his spiritual reunion with her and his evolving Christian faith. A rare conservative in Hollywood, Grammer also discussed the current political climate in America and how the pursuit of individual freedom remains his guiding philosophy. But what if those stories aren't even real? What if they're simply propaganda? In this episode, we're pulling back the curtain on the glossy lies and exposing how these narratives are shaping our view of sex, identity, and womanhood—and not for the better. Today, we're diving in to why God's design for womanhood isn't boring, outdated, or shame-filled—but actually freeing, fulfilling, and rooted in truth. Sister, you don't have to chase culture's version of empowerment. #190// What do you see with your eyes closed? What do you see when you allow your spirit to set vision as it's connected to the Spirit of God?Listen, Sister . . . if we're actually going to BEHOLD the things of God in the natural, we've got to get good at seeing it with our spirit first. This past weekend, I had the opportunity to speak to and exhort over 300 women at our REVIVE Woman Conference 2025 about what it looks like to BEHOLD with God... to perceive the new thing He is doing in this coming season (see Isaiah 43:19). The truth is: We BECOME what we BEHOLD!If we are continually beholding our Savior -- the way He walked and talked and related to others -- we will become more and more like Him. If we allow ourselves to behold the negative, the swirl, the chaos or overwhelm, we will continually see that all around us. And here's the part no one wants to say out loud: We can't BECOME on our own because it's hard for us to BEHOLD on our own. We NEED other faith-filled, godly women of purpose around us -- cheering us on, calling us up higher, discipling and challenging us -- for our GOOD and for the GLORY of God!And you better believe the enemy is going to do everything in his power to keep you from beholding. Because he doesn't want you to BECOME! That makes you a BIG threat to his kingdom of darkness. But I've got his schemes in my sight and I'm going to share with you The Four Strategies the Enemy Uses to Keep Us from Beholding:
We started the show a little heavy with an update about Kelly's dog Jack; We caught up with Lisa to see how her date went with her Sister's Ex and Kelly did something that NO ONE should ever do and of course.. he did it!
Fill up your airbag and lather yourself in fire-gel, it's David Leitch. We discuss the literal and figurative pratfalls of the industry— cherry picking, Culver City for Tokyo, and of course: pickleball injuries. This episode of SpaceTime covers a range of exciting topics, including the delayed launch of Gilmour Space's Eris rocket, groundbreaking discoveries on Venus, and a billion-year-old asteroid impact in Scotland that raises new questions about the evolution of life on Earth.Eris Rocket Launch DelayedGilmour Space has postponed the maiden launch of its Eris orbital rocket due to technical issues encountered during pre-flight checks. The rocket, designed to carry small satellite payloads, will now face a delay of at least three weeks as the company investigates the unexpected deployment of the launch vehicle's nosecone fairings. We discuss the implications of this delay and what it means for future commercial launches.Tectonic Activity on VenusIn a fascinating discovery, scientists have identified possible tectonic activity on Venus, based on data from NASA's Magellan mission. Researchers found evidence of unique geological features known as coronae, which may indicate ongoing deformation of the planet's surface due to molten material from below. This research not only enhances our understanding of Venus but also offers insights into Earth's geological history.Ancient Asteroid Impact in ScotlandA recent study has revealed that a massive asteroid impact in Scotland occurred 990 million years ago, much later than previously thought. This discovery, based on dating tiny zircon crystals, suggests a connection between this impact event and the emergence of early freshwater eukaryotes on land. We delve into the implications of this revised timeline for our understanding of life on Earth and the environmental changes triggered by such impacts.www.spacetimewithstuartgary.com✍️ Episode ReferencesScience Advanceshttps://www.science.org/journal/sciadvJournal of Geologyhttps://www.geosociety.org/publications/gsa/geo.aspBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/spacetime-space-astronomy--2458531/support.00:00 This is Space Time Series 28, Episode 60 for broadcast on 19 May 202500:54 Gilmour Space's Eris rocket launch delayed10:15 Possible tectonic activity discovered on Venus18:45 Billion-year-old asteroid impact in Scotland raises questions about early life on Earth25:00 Science report: Unexplained communications equipment found in Chinese-made solar panel inverters
