What started out just needing to a podcast and using my China experiences to get going, has continued to develop into a place where I share, from my own background and experience, with an authenticity that I believe can have a meaning and an impact for others.
Too often we get caught up in all the stresses of the day and forget what matters. Doing this podcast is part of of meditation. Sorry for the length of time between shows. If you get anything from this show, I hope it is a feeling you are listening to someone being authentic and a positive feeling resonates.
This about purpose. Not so deep as life's purpose, but what is the purpose of the things, individually, that we do. Why am I buying this thing? Why do I associate with these people? Can I look at myself in the mirror and honestly ask myself, why am I making this decision, big or small? What is the purpose. This simple question opens up a whole new world.
The simple ideas of action and completion and how important they are. We can often work for the shear sake of work, because we are supposed to. We are busy, make ourselves so because that is what we think is expected of us. We have to be self aware and listen to what is inside of us. In my case, acknowledging a creative bent and acting on it has opened a new world. I like to create. I can create. I am a creative. Words I have not spoken to myself until recently, but so glad I do now.
This episode is another developmental step in the podcast's journey, and mine. I am going to be actively promoting the cast more and engaging wherever I can. All part of my own, being a better version of myself.
Today we talk about the idea of kindness being a leadership quality, possibly the most important leadership quality?
Focusing on a quote from the Gospel of Thomas, (no religious stuff, promise), I explore what it means to me, what a simple quote can mean for most of us.
In today's episode we look at a trending article and discuss the these 13 things. A lot of truth in this article and these statements. This is a great way to reflect and self assess and especially increase your own self awareness.
Today we go off the rails in a wonderful and I hope, uplifting way. This podcast is a journey for me and I will continue to find any all things I am not an expert at and share them. This time it is a personal share and a sign of things to come.
This is not supposed to be a topical podcast! However, topics are bigger than my brain can handle and it is causing me consternation. Come be disconcerted with me and see if there is a light of the US-China cold war tunnel.
China is dominating the news these days and this is not a topical podcast anyway. Let's touch on the some of the rest of Asia and what those countries are like. Not too in depth today and hopefully just a bit of fun, we need it.
How we see the world, how we percieve things is as important to doing business as any other thing. If we can see the world through the eyes of those we are working with, we have a greater chance to understand, empathize and succeed. Alot of anecdotes as we search together for some meaning to something that I have been trying to define for years.
We explore Guanxi in China, its importance and is it all that different than relationships we have in other parts of the world?
Eating and drinking in China go hand in hand. Eating has its own set of challenges and is a fantastic cuilinary adventure, but your palette will be tested. Breaking bread in China is all part of the relationship building process and the common denominator we wll share.
The cross of drinking and building realtionships in China and why it can be so very important. How to manage it when you can drink and some help with the protocol. At the end, follow a couple of simple rules and enjoy yourself.
What this is all about and all about me. Why do a podcast? What do I, hardly an expert, have to offer? As it turns out, quite alot.
