    Always Be Learning

My dad was a consignment learner. As a leader in the law enforcement community, he was always gaining a greater understanding of the world as a whole and how bad actors operated. One story goes that a colleague of his was leaving the office late one night and, noticing my dad was in his office, stopped to see what he was doing. When he inquired my dad said he was reading all the emails he had received that day. My dad's colleague said he hates reading emails and did understand why my dad would read every word of every email. My dad told him that he reads every email because he always learns something new from the emails. I just heard that story the other day and it makes complete sense because my dad was always learning. He encouraged that same mentality in me (Although it took my YEARS to truly listen and implement.) and I want to pass that same encouragement on to you as well.Leaders are learners. As leaders, we should always be learning about everything we can. The more we know about various topics, the better we are able to lead in our home, vocation, and community.Always be learning.

2020 has taught us a lot. Or, it should have. As leaders, we need to always be considering the lessons we can learn from both the good and the bad that happens to us. For a lot of people, there was hardship in 2020. But within those hardships are always lessons. In this episode, Greg talks about the importance of learning from all situations and some of the lessons he has learned from 2020, and the changes that he is applying in 2021. What are some lessons you learned in 2020, that you will be making adjustments because of in 2021?

Effective leadership has a vision for what is now and what is to come. If a leader does not have a vision, they will follow the easier path - which is often not the correct path.If you do not have a vision as a leader then you will become a follower. Plain and simple. A person or team without direction will switch gears or directions once the path gets rocky and hard. Every time. As a leader, you need to have a direction in which you or your team needs to be heading. This vision is allowed to be adjusted as needed (for example, a global pandemic!), but by and large, the vision needs to be sure and fought for. When things start going differently than you thought they would in the normal world - and they will - you need to be able to hold fast to the path that you have created to reach your goal.A lot has been written and talked about vision. This episode barely scratches the surface on vision but will be helpful in beginning to understand the importance of a leader having a vision they can clearly communicate, a plan to implement the vision, and a legacy to leave so the vision can move on after the leader is no longer around.__________If you are ready to grow in your vision and leadership overall, sign up to download my eBook called Leadership That Lasts. The Greatest Servant Leader That Ever Lived

Born to a common family into a common life, Jesus Christ had a purpose and mission to accomplish on earth. That mission, to give his life as a ransom for many, would showcase His leadership as the greatest servant leader to ever live. There is much that could be said about Jesus as a servant leader, but on today's special Christmas Eve episode of the Lead Fifteen Podcast, we will look at three aspects of his servant leadership from Philippians 2:5-8.5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. - Philippians 2:5-8Jesus knew his mission was to serve...., though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.Instead of leaning into his identity as the Son of God, part of Jesus’ mission on earth was to serve others. Jesus was born into a common family in a very uncommon way and lived a simple life. He was not worried about getting the attention but desired to put the attention on others as he showed them a better way.Jesus was a humble leader.8a And being found in human form, he humbled himselfJesus humbled himself so that he could be with the people that he was leading and sharing hope. As leaders, we must always be willing to be humble and understand that we are there to serve others and not ourselves.Jesus was an obedient leader.8b by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.Jesus was obedient in his leadership by fulfilling the ultimate end of his mission on earth - which was to die for the sins of many. For the greater good of many, Jesus went to the cross to die the death that we deserved. We, as leaders, will never have as hard of a leadership responsibility as Jesus. As such we can learn a lot from the life of Jesus and the ways in which he served others. If you are not familiar with the life and teachings of Jesus I would be happy to connect with you and share more about who Jesus is. Feel free to send me an email at greg@gregramer.com with any questions you may have about Jesus and His life on earth.

Defined, integrity is the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness. Effective leadership stands strong in the face of unavoidable opposition and hardship. Being a leader with integrity will ensure the longevity of self and team.Integrity seems to be lost a lot in leadership today. We could spend hours and hours talking to leaders we have known or currently know in leadership who lack integrity but are still in positions of leadership. It is clearly possible to be a leader and not have integrity. But is it possible to be a leader with poor integrity and be effective. For a season, sure. But eventually, people will get tired of a leader with little integrity and move on from said leader or team.Three ways a leader can become a leader of integrity is to be humble, resilient, and have strong values. Today's episode is about how to be a leader with integrity and, as a result, help to create a culture of integrity within your team, staff, family, etc. __________If you are ready to grow in your integrity and leadership overall, sign up to download my eBook called Leadership That Lasts. Self Care is probably the one element of leadership that I struggle with the most. I, like a lot of leaders, spend a good amount of time investing in other people, and neglect investing in themselves. However, if a leader does not take care of themself, then they will not be able to care and lead others. In this episode, I talk about the importance of mental, physical, and spiritual health in the life of a leader. I share a little of my story is not taking good care of myself as well as an easy way to begin to understand how to better care for yourself. That is, get to know who you are. An easy way to learn more about yourself is through personal assessments. These two have been effective in my life and I would encourage you to consider these or some other assessment. MYERS-BRIGGS: You can take the assessment online for as low as $49.95. There are more in-depth assessments, but check out https://www.mbtionline.com/en-US for more information on how to take the online assessment.ENNEAGRAM: The Enneagram test is a great way to get a broader understanding of yourself and others. After taking the test and reading the detailed description of a 6, defined as a Loyalist, I got chills because it sounded like the description was written for me personally. You can take the test for as low as $12.00. A small price to pay to understand yourself and others in a better way.
