This Ash Wednesday, Fr. Ken Geraci and John Heinen go straight to the heart of Lent's first command: repent and believe. We're focusing on two concrete actions that we avoid until we're desperate: a real examination of conscience and a clean, simple confession. Not scrupulosity. Not vague generalities. An honest inventory of blind spots, weak spots, compromises, and missed opportunities for virtue.
Send a textRecalls are where community politics get real. When a board receives a Recall Petition, emotions run high and so do the legal stakes. In this week's episode of Take It To The Board, host Donna DiMaggio Berger sits down with Becker shareholder Jonathan J. Ellis, Florida Bar board-certified in condominium and planned development law, to demystify what drives recalls, how they actually work and how to steer a community through the process with as little pain as possible.Donna and Jonathan break down the two Florida recall paths—membership meeting vs. written ballot and why the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation's (DBPR) forms and “facial validity” standard matter so much. You'll hear the critical do's and don'ts as they also cover the required five-day Board meeting to certify, what counts as a valid rejection of the recall effort, common traps like DocuSign signatures, and why the Division rarely polices the “story” behind a signature unless fraud is obvious. Beyond the mechanics, they focus on strategy. Managers should stay neutral; boards must communicate early and accurately, with data that explains why tough choices—reserve funding, special assessments, construction projects and life-safety repairs—can't wait. Donna and Jonathan weigh when to fight, when to pivot, and when to accept a valid recall with grace. You'll learn about timing windows around elections, why recalls are harder to win than elections, and how to navigate developer-appointed seats and layered voting interests. They round it out with practical transition tips for new boards: bank resolutions, records turnover, and avoiding long-term contracts that handcuff future boards. If you're an owner building a recall effort, a director sensing one, or a manager trying to stay above the fray, this conversation gives you a clear, candid roadmap. Conversation Highlights:Why recalls happen in community associations, from governance breakdowns and personality conflicts to policy disputes and allegations of misconduct. When pursuing a recall makes sense versus waiting for the next election cycle.A clear walkthrough of how the Florida condominium recall process works and what to expect at each stage. The pros and cons of voting on a recall at a meeting versus using a written agreement. How boards and managers should communicate during a recall effort while avoiding defamation or retaliation risks. What boards can and cannot do when responding to a recall and how authority is handled if a dispute arises. How to evaluate whether to certify or challenge a recall based on defects, evidence, and regulatory scrutiny.Common mistakes owners and boards make that can invalidate a recall or make one more likely.Practical steps to maintain continuity of operations and keep the community running during leadership transitions.Governance reforms and best practices that can help rebuild trust and prevent future recalls.Related Links:Article: Florida bill would let homeowners recall community development district boardsOnline Class: Board Certification: Condo/Co-Op 4-HourOnline Class: Board Certification: HOA 4-Hour
On this episode of The Disciple-Making Parent podcast, we continue our four-part series on biblical conflict resolution with part two, focusing on the essential practice of examining ourselves before addressing conflicts with others. We explore Jesus' teaching about removing the log from our own eye before pointing out the speck in someone else's eye, and why this principle is foundational to resolving disagreements in a God-honoring way.We discuss how to conduct an honest self-examination, looking at both our actions and attitudes that may have contributed to conflict. We explore common blind spots like argumentative spirits, passive-aggressive behavior, and the tendency to see ourselves as more righteous than we actually are. We also examine how leaders in particular need to be willing to acknowledge their blind spots and the impact their words and decisions can have on others. In the second half of the episode, we break down Ken Sande's Seven A's of Confession—a practical framework for asking forgiveness in a way that's genuine, specific, and transformative. We learn the difference between saying "I'm sorry" and truly asking for forgiveness, and why details like addressing everyone involved, avoiding qualifiers like "if" and "but," and accepting consequences matter so much in the reconciliation process. Whether you're navigating conflict in marriage, parenting, church leadership, or the workplace, this episode equips us with biblical tools to own our part, confess well, and move toward genuine restoration.

Send us a messageYou can have a renewed mindset and a re-centered sense of purpose, and yet carry a quiet heaviness that doesn't quite lift. That's often because renewal isn't complete until it reaches the heart. The heart is where our desires live, where our wounds linger, and where fatigue tends to hide the longest. There's a kind of tiredness that doesn't show up on the surface. It isn't physical exhaustion, and it doesn't always come with obvious discouragement. It's the tiredness of the heart - a subtle tiredness that builds over time, especially in people who care deeply and carry a lot. In this last episode of the renewal series, we focus on why the renewal of our mind, our purpose, and our actions all centers around the renewal of our heart.
In this episode of the Pre-Hospital Care Podcast, we're joined by Dr Ron Daniels BEM, one of the most influential voices in the global fight against sepsis. Ron is an NHS Consultant in Intensive Care in Birmingham, the Executive Director of the UK Sepsis Trust, and a key member of the Executive Board of the Global Sepsis Alliance. He led the team behind the Sepsis 6, a pathway that has transformed early recognition and treatment across the UK. Thanks to these efforts, more than 80% of patients with suspected sepsis in England now receive timely antimicrobials. Yet challenges remain: striking a balance with antimicrobial stewardship, navigating the intricacies of early shock physiology, and recognising that sepsis in the field is often subtle, evolving, and easily missed. In this conversation, we'll explore how pre-hospital teams can recognise sepsis earlier, act decisively, and integrateseamlessly into wider systems of care. From red flags to real-world barriers, from fluids to future pathways, this episode is packed with essential insights for frontline clinicians. The views and opinions expressed in this podcast are those of the individual speakers and do not necessarily reflect the views, policies, or positions of any affiliated organisations, employers, professional bodies, or regulatory authorities. The content discussed is intended for educational and informational purposes only. Resolution of the Conflict on an Individual Basis(02/15/26)
As a new year begins, many people set resolutions—but what if this year's greatest resolution is spiritual? In this powerful and encouraging sermon, we explore biblical principles for a God-centered New Year through Matthew 6:33–34, 1 Corinthians 9:24–27, Hebrews 12:1–2, and 2 Kings 22:1–2. Jesus teaches us to seek first the Kingdom of God and trust Him with tomorrow. Paul challenges us to run the race with discipline and purpose. Hebrews reminds us to lay aside every weight and fix our eyes on Jesus. And King Josiah shows us that it's possible to start young—or start fresh—and still choose what is right in the sight of the Lord. In this message, you will discover how to: Make spiritual priorities your first pursuit Let go of distractions and unnecessary weights Develop discipline that leads to lasting growth Run your race with endurance and purpose Keep your focus on Jesus throughout the year Build resolutions that have eternal impact This sermon will encourage you to move beyond temporary goals and embrace eternal transformation. Don't just make resolutions—make a decision to seek God first, run with focus, and finish strong. Start the year aligned with Heaven's priorities. #NewYearSermon #SeekFirst #ChristianEncouragement #RunTheRace #FaithGoals #BiblicalResolutions #FixYourEyesOnJesus

The full impact of continuing resolutions is hard to pin down for the Defense Department, but a government watchdog says the funding lapses consistently lead to delays, higher costs, added administrative work and operational disruptions — including a facilities sustainment contract at Joint Base San Antonio that more than doubled after CR‑related delays. They also disrupted training and exercises and forced financial staff to rework budgets to navigate CR limits instead of supporting the mission. Blending Shulgin's chemical poetry with PKD's reality-glitching paranoia, we explore a compound that attaches story itself to your serotonin receptors. What happens when the trip starts editing its own script? Funny first. Terrifying second. Profound always. This episode is a three-act structure in audio form: Hypothetical synthesis in a lab of self-doubt, proposed pharmacology that syncs your inner narrator with the cosmic feed, and a trip report where perspectives switch like camera cuts, ceilings read you back, and a glass of water becomes the ultimate MacGuffin. From Santa Rosa's fog-shrouded edges (February 2026, where realities bleed like melting icicles), we scavenger truths from the unmade—laughing at the absurd, crying at the irrevocable, and emerging with windows cleaned of baseline illusions.Key Timestamps:• 00:00 - Intro & Disclaimer: Welcome to the series—speculative fiction only, no labs required. Status: Theoretical. Beautiful. Pending.• 02:15 - Hypothetical Precursor Route: In the dark corner of imagination, 4-hydroxy-tryptamine meets narrativaldehyde under conditions of ambient self-doubt. We graft narrative onto the C4 position—where psilocin lives, and realities forget their boundaries.• 07:45 - Proposed Receptor Pharmacology: Dual binding at 5-HT2A (Technicolor flood) and sigma-1 (timeline editor). Send a textResolutions fade fast when they aren't backed by steady habits, so we're putting structure first: the simple difference between lead and lag indicators, and how that mindset keeps both your business and your house out of trouble. We walk through the weekly inputs that actually move the needle, from outreach and education to checklists that turn big goals into bite-size tasks you can repeat without thinking. Then we take that same lens to home ownership. Houses don't have warning lights, and thaw season can be brutal: one warm day after a deep freeze and suddenly sump pumps fail, downspouts disconnect, and gutters overflow right into the foundation. We break down the small, preventive moves that stop big messes: test the pump with a bucket, reconnect and extend downspouts, clean gutters, and make sure grading sends water away from the walls. None of it is expensive, but skipping it can flood a basement, short out equipment, and drain your budget. We also explain why a periodic maintenance inspection is worth its weight in peace of mind. Pros bring moisture meters, thermal imaging, and the experience to spot slow leaks in attics and crawl spaces before they become disasters. The findings become a practical honey-do list: prioritize essentials, schedule the rest, and build a two-year rhythm that includes radon testing whether or not you have a system. Along the way, we share why septic systems need predictable pumping, how to avoid wrecking a leach field, and how simple skills like caulking and patching get better with practice and save money for years.Ready to trade emergencies for a calm, low-drama home? Send us a messageIn the last couple of episodes, we've been talking about renewal - what it means to be restored, and how renewal begins quietly in the way we think. When our minds start to shift, clarity begins to return. But clarity doesn't stay abstract for long. Eventually, renewed thinking asks a deeper question: What is this shaping me toward? Because when the mind begins to renew, it naturally leads us to purpose. How we think influences how we choose, how we prioritize, and how we move forward. Purpose often blurs because life piles on top of it. Expectations grow. Schedules tighten. People rely on us. Over time, purpose can quietly shift from something we live from into something we simply carry. And when that happens, even good work can start to feel draining instead of life-giving.Renewal isn't meant to stop at perspective - it's meant to guide direction. So if purpose feels unclear right now, let this be reassuring: confusion is not failure. Blurriness is often a signal that renewal is needed. And renewal doesn't mean starting over; it means returning to the breath that first gave life to your purpose.

In the second episode of the All About Marriage series, Larry Vinson and April Bordeau build on the foundation of healthy communication by addressing a topic every couple faces: conflict resolution.April reframes conflict as an unavoidable part of being human and being in relationship. Rather than something to fear or avoid, conflict can either disconnect couples or draw them closer—there is no neutral outcome. This episode focuses on how couples can approach conflict intentionally so it becomes a pathway to connection, growth, and forward movement rather than division. Three Foundational Steps to Conflict ResolutionApril outlines three core steps that set the stage for healthy conflict resolution:Check your intent. Enter the conversation with the shared goal that both partners walk away feeling like they've won and grown closer.Have a heart talk. Clarify what the conflict means, how it feels, and what each person is hoping for before trying to solve the problem.Invite God into the conversation. Pray together for unity, wisdom, and direction—not to “win,” but to move forward together with humility and purpose. When couples begin conflict with these three steps, many secondary arguments lose their power and intensity. Encouragement for ListenersConflict resolution is a skill that takes time, practice, and patience—especially when there is a long history attached to the issue. April reassures listeners that they do not need to navigate difficult conversations alone. With guidance and support, couples can move through even deeply tangled issues and come out stronger on the other side.Resources & SupportVisit caretochange.org to explore marriage resources, podcasts, videos, and recommended readings. All parties must come to an end, and this one has....but not our podcast. Oh no, we are still rocking and/or rolling for at least a couple more years. We have not even reached our Rubicon, our milestone of comics with Power Pack that have come out since we started recording. We have to make it that far. Now, back to this two-parter. Where were we? Something about dancing and letting the beat drop or something. Maybe about dancing queens or the availability to purchase clove flavored gum. Maybe dance clubs of the 90's. Man, I don't know. I am making this up as I go. Actually, I want to talk about costs and benefits. How much do you think it costs to really make a scene at a dance club? And by scene, I mean a visually arresting specimen of a person crashing onto the dance floor. Are you a three-bucks at a thrift store or are you more of a take-out a loan against your future perfection type of a buyer? After you put on your threads, snap a picture of yo'self. Spread that love. Be the impact in the world that you know you are. Don't forget to add glitter. And then, at the end of the night, take pride in the statement you have made. Walk out with your crew, head held high, dance into the street and continue to make a scene. Also, if you have had a few, make sure you have a designated driver. And then, later in the night, when no one is watching, make sure you take the moment to walk into the dark and be creepy and mysterious. You know why you need to do that. You know why you need to sneak into the night. Make sure you pay your tax. Now that we are done with that book, what is next, where will we go from here, tune in to find out. OA1233 - We are not conspiracy theorist type people. But... yeah man I don't know. But also, so much more in these files to talk about. If you know anything about the federal government's 2007 plea deal with Jeffrey Epstein you know that it was bad. But newly-released documents from the Epstein files show that it was actually much worse than that! Thanks to a newly-released legal memo, a draft indictment, and internal emails between prosecutors we now have a much better understanding of the disagreements within US Attorney for the District of Southern Florida Alex Acosta's office as they finalized the terms of a much-too-friendly agreement between the US government and a billionaire pedophile which a federal appeals court would later call “a national disgrace.” Matt has the receipts for this special emergency episode. What if conflict is not a sign that something is wrong, but proof that something matters, and we were never taught how to handle it?In this eye-opening episode of Whinypaluza, host Rebecca Greene sits down with Kimberly Best, RN, MA, a mediator and conflict management expert who spent years in critical care before dedicating her career to helping people navigate the conversations they avoid most.Kimberly explains why conflict is normal, why silence often causes more damage than honesty, and how emotional regulation and curiosity can completely change outcomes in marriage, parenting, divorce, and the workplace. Drawing from lived experience, mediation practice, and deep compassion, this conversation reframes conflict as a skill set problem rather than a people problem and offers practical tools listeners can use immediately.5 Key Takeaway → Conflict is normal and does not mean a relationship is broken → Silence and avoidance often cause more harm than difficult conversations → The person is not the problem. The problem is the problem → Emotions are information and learning to regulate them changes everything → Listening with curiosity creates better outcomes than trying to be rightQuotes from the Guest“The most important conversations are often the ones we are not having.”“Conflict is normal. We do not have people problems. We have a skill set problem."If you want to learn how to have hard conversations without damaging relationships, connect with Kimberly Best at bestconflictsolutions.com to explore her conflict management training, mediation services, and speaking programs.

New Year's resolutions promise hope, but for many people, they quietly deliver shame, stress, and self-blame instead. If resolutions leave you feeling worse about yourself every January, this episode explains why — and what actually works. Host Gabe Howard is joined by returning favorite Jodi Wellman to unpack why traditional goal-setting often backfires, especially when it comes to mental health. They explore the psychology behind the “fresh start effect,” how all-or-nothing thinking sets us up to fail, and why massive lifestyle overhauls rarely stick. More importantly, they offer practical, compassionate alternatives; Like shifting from rigid goals to identity-based habits, process-focused wins, and restarting without guilt when things go off track. Listener Takeaways The mental health cost of setting outcome-based goals Why smaller, process-focused goals actually create lasting change How to restart a goal without guilt or self-punishment Whether you've already ditched your New Year's resolutions or never believed in them to begin with, this episode explores a healthier, more realistic way to create change—without harming your mental well-being. “What is really common, which is set a goal. Don't get there. Feel bad about it. So net net it's not a good experience. For many of us, that's problematic because we feel badly about ourselves [. . .] And maybe that's your version of self-compassion is to let that goal gracefully go.” ~Jodi Wellman, MAPP Our guest, Jodi Wellman, MAPP is a speaker, author, and facilitator on living lives worth living.
