Power of Mediocrity Podcast
We get it, you're busy with life, we totally understand. My normal day starts at 530am, if I'm lucky I can actually wake up at that time, make some coffee, maybe practice for 20 minutes, then hit the road to work. Generally, I get home around 6pm, and I usually eat through working for lunch. Then it is time to make dinner, get the kids homework done, clean up a little, get the kids to bed and all of the sudden it is 9:30pm... if I go to bed at that point we are talking at best 8 hours of sleep and I haven't even had a moment to myself to do anything. Frankly, that is a bit disheartening, but I bet a lot of you can relate. The weekends aren't much better, birthday parties, going to see family, going somewhere, anywhere. The kids want to stay up later too, etc.... At the same time, you have this voice in your head that wants more out of your life. You want to do something, anything. When do you find time for it? How do you prepare? How will you ever get ready? You won't ever be ready. You won't ever be set. But guess what, you have to start anyways. You'll never have enough time, you'll never be able to prepare fully, but you know what you just have to start. That's the thing. Stop listening now, and start you thing, this is the best advice we can give. However, we understand it is good to have more motivation. After you started, you're going to have to do 2 more things. You're going to have to "Just Ask" and "Just Execute". We will get into more as the episode goes along. We are back with another episode of Power of Mediocrity. This past week it was brought to our attention that "perfection" may not be reachable, but it's a good goal to have. We couldn't disagree with that sentiment more. Can you even define what is perfect? Why are you striving for something that is not really even definable? We have a better idea... listen and hear it. Welcome back everyone. We have a very special guest this episode of Power of Mediocrity. Bassist, Knife Maker and good dude, Jared Lees. Jared has been featured in Bass Player Magazine, played shows around the country, puts on music fundraisers called Lo-Hio that raises money for the Akron Food Bank. Jared has also recently started a booming knifemaking business. Check out www.jaredlees.com for more information about all his ventures. We have Jared over to the house, grab some quality bourbon (Jefferson Reserve and Col. EH Taylor) and press record. Jared's music is featured throughout the episode from his and my band Chromadrive www.chromadriveband.com . Also, here is the link to Jared's "controversial" Knife-making documentary: And here is a link to his sweet knife page to go droll over on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/jleesknives/ (Let him know you heard about him on here when you order, so he can make Kate a super pink camping knife)
The Power of Mediocrity sits down with the amazing Bobby Selvaggio. Bobby is a jazz musician based out of the Cleveland/Akron Jazz Scene. Bobby is the director of Jazz Studies at Kent State University, has put out 9 albums as leader and played on multiple others. Bobby recently signed an endorsement with Eastman Saxophones and can be found doing masterclasses and seminars though out the country. We talk with Bobby about the life of musician and someone who has always gone for it. There are so many good lessons throughout this podcast and interview I can't wait for you to hear it. Throughout the podcast we play snippets from Bobby's latest album Quantum Man. It's pretty genius for a mediocre bloke, eh? Check out more about Bobby at www.bobbyselvaggio.com Check out more of our podcasts on www.powerofmediocrity.com More interviews and podcasts on the way!
Kate and Tim explore the ideas of being positive and dealing with negativity. We all know the feeling of getting excited about an idea only to be crushed by a huge negative comment. We got some ways to deal with these negative beings. www.powerofmediocrity.com/blog/podcast Oh, we might deal with some terrible accents too. Cheers
We're back, sorry for the delay, lots of oddities going on, but we are back. We wanted to take this opportunity to show that even though we kind of suck at this, we are staying motivated to keep it going. Between sickness, being parents, and trying to do a million things we still somehow made time for this, because we think it is important. So strap in for some more fun, and let's get this party started. Or something like that, mediocre party perhaps?
Tim and Kate discuss the power of changing your perception. Often we are caught in the sayings and lies that get perpetuated by society. "I'll never make enough money" "I'll be in debt forever" "Don't start a business, it's too dangerous" "I'm not smart enough for...." This episode is about ridding yourself from the madness. Take over your life, and change your perception. We also go over last week's Challenge and add a new one (can anyone say daily affirmations?) Oh, and we have special news (err... Special guests, coming soon!) Stay tuned. www.powerofmediocrity.com/blog/podcast Please subscribe, rate, and comment on iTunes and Stitch. It really helps! Later~
We've done it again, another episode. Actually, we recorded this one prior to our last podcast on the 10 steps to be more productive. We were so excited by that episode, we wanted to put it out first. Here we talk about releasing our first podcast, what we learned. We even wrote a blog post about how to actually put your podcast up (it took more steps than realized). We also get into discussions about, what exactly is failure? Is failure just not succeeding at something? I mean, how many shots did Michael Jordan miss when he was learning? Were each one of those a failure? How about Steve Jobs? He got fired from Apple... then got involved in NEXT, which nearly flopped, but returned to triumph with Apple and Pixar. I bet he wouldn't look at those as failures, but just steps into the right direction. We need to move our worries about failure to a different location. We need to worry about not doing. How will you feel in 10 years if you just don't do it? Or if you sit around and spend every night watching TV instead of actually doing something?? Seriously. Alright... till next time. Episodes on Sunday Night/Monday Morning and one on either Wednesday or Thursday every week is our goal. Hope you enjoy. Please subscribe and comment! We really appreciate it! www.powerofmediocrity.com/blog/
In this episode, Kate and Tim go over 10 powerful and easy steps on How to be more productive and get stuff done. We believe in keeping it simple and achievable goals. We also implement something new in this this episode that we want you, the listener to join in. Audience Participation. That's right folks, some audience participation. 2 average middle class Americans living the normal life, but having a moment a realization that they wanted more. So we are taking it. In this episode we talk about how this all started, how we've gone from going through the motions to starting to become producers by writing a book, starting a blog, starting a life coaching business, putting out an album, starting our own adult card game, and losing weight. And we did this all by being using the Power of Mediocrity... Yes, we know, mediocrity is a bad word, but we really believe it can be a very empowering concept. Have you felt trapped by the rat race, student debt, other debt, not getting what you want out of life. Too afraid to do what you want with your life. I think you found the right podcast. Frankly, we are just learning, and that's what we want to share. Let's do this together. We hope this inspires you to be what YOU always dreamed. Thanks for listening. www.powerofmediocrity.com/blog/
