The Precious Truthz Podcast was created as a vehicle to continue to drive my journey of Self Love and growing confidence. Growing up I was never considered popular and allowed society and the media to convince me that my brown skin and kinky hair wasn't beautiful. I had to grow to love myself naturally and learn to stay true to myself. Thus the stage name Precious Truthz was created. I know that sharing my TRUTHZ will help encourage people to be true to theirselves, as well. Additionally, I tackle so many other fun and entertaining topics. Each lustrous episode will be filled with life lessons, laughter, lightheartedness, learning, and love. Tune in!

This week I have observed dozens of snippets that show just how Colorism is STILL very prevalent. Although there are facts that show how colorism affects dark-skinned Black people more harshly, there are people who will go out of their way to ignore these facts or attempt to prove that privilege based on complexion is non-existent. This topic is very sensitive and some may even say controversial, however it is my belief that having an open dialogue helps to create understanding and most importantly UNITY.

This episode was inspired from the Memes that were trending stating "f*ck being shot, you ever been (insert any funny comparison). Have you ever thought if a person who actually got shot found humor in the meme? I did. I have a few friends who, unfortunately, have been shot, and they can't think of anything that hurt more than actually getting shot. So, I decided to invite a guest to the show, who could speak from experience of getting shot, and the advice he has for youth who may be following down a similar path. Just like the meme that merges a serious situation with humor, this episode does the same. This episode we discuss the Classic Book "Song of Solomon" by Toni Morrison. This book takes readers on an unbelievable journey of self discovery, and challenges the reader to rediscover themselves and their own lineage. It's no wonder why the book won the 1977 National Book Critics Circle Award. We touch upon the major themes in the book, which in our opinion are identity, lineage, and greed. The book has so many plot twist, which takes you through a maze like adventure. We also explain why we decided to create a "virtual book club" and how we developed a love of reading. This episode I touch upon a very vulnerable subject of drug addiction. Up until the age of 10, my father raised me as a single Father while my mother battled to gain sobriety. Due to her addiction several of her children were placed in foster care, and subsequently adopted. After she was finally able tackle her addiction, she slowly rebuilt her life and has done her best to make up for the time lost with her children. I felt this topic was imperative to discuss, as songs and the media are consistently promoting drug usage. It took my mother over 15 years and a tragic accident, that almost cost her life, to really quit drugs forever. Host IG: MzshynetymePoscast IG: PreciousTruthz

It took telling myself positive affirmations. It took convincing myself that black is beautiful.
