On today's episode of the Occult Symbolism and Pop Culture with Isaac Weishaupt podcast we have the August BONUS episode for supporter feeds! We dive deep into the occult symbolism of Danny Boyle's Sunshine, exploring how the film functions as a modern allegory for death, rebirth, and humanity's obsession with the solar deity. We unpack the story of Icarus as a metaphor for approaching the divine unprepared, and the recurring symbolism of the number seven as the union of spirit and matter. The crew's obsession with staring into the sun becomes a study in ego death and the alchemical process of Nigredo, while the Black Sun imagery and cube-shaped bomb reflect Saturnian forces, time, and entropy. We'll connect the hidden sun concept from Crowley and Kenneth Grant to Gnostic and Freemasonic ideas of oppositional polarities, and show how Pinbacker represents the ultimate adversarial initiator, testing humanity's capacity to transcend mortal limitations. Ultimately, Sunshine is a meditation on facing death, confronting the constraints of matter, and creating a new sun within the sun—a ritualistic and esoteric journey encoded in a sci-fi epic.FULL EPISODE NOW UP AD-FREE ON ALL SUPPORTER FEEDS! Wednesday Night Live Twitter/X Space 27 August 2025This Space explores philosophical questions about human nature, government, and societal structures. Stefan invites callers to engage in discussions about the implications of selfishness in humanity, examining whether such traits are innate or influenced by societal conditions. The conversation contrasts the stagnation of government control with the potential dynamism of a stateless society, addressing how moral actions are shaped by societal incentives. Callers raise questions around survival instincts and moral attribution, leading to a deeper inquiry into individual autonomy versus government influence. Stefan invokes Malthusianism to illustrate historical responses to resource scarcity, ultimately advocating for a future grounded in ethical principles, individual liberty, and voluntary societal interactions. The episode combines social critique with hopeful speculation about creating a more decentralized and prosperous society.FOLLOW ME ON X! https://x.com/StefanMolyneuxGET MY NEW BOOK 'PEACEFUL PARENTING', THE INTERACTIVE PEACEFUL PARENTING AI, AND THE FULL AUDIOBOOK!https://peacefulparenting.com/Join the PREMIUM philosophy community on the web for free!Subscribers get 12 HOURS on the "Truth About the French Revolution," multiple interactive multi-lingual philosophy AIs trained on thousands of hours of my material - as well as AIs for Real-Time Relationships, Bitcoin, Peaceful Parenting, and Call-In Shows! You also receive private livestreams, HUNDREDS of exclusive premium shows, early release podcasts, the 22 Part History of Philosophers series and much more!See you soon!https://freedomain.locals.com/support/promo/UPB2025

“French Kiss” evokes a rare look into the most threatening years of the Cold War, a parallel to today's geopolitical climate. Hundreds of interviews with those whose livelihoods depended on work at the massive Dèols-Châteauroux U.S. Air Station provide intimate details on how the Kremlin had targeted France for Soviet domination. Communist provocateurs viciously condemned the American military buildup in France. French Communists spread the Kremlin's message over the radio, newspapers and magazines and on street corner. Every word of Lenin and Stalin was infallible. Fast forward to today's worldwide Islamic movement, girded by the Koran's infallibility and Allah's sacred words, has for decades used terrorism and war to conquer and convert. Contrast, “French Kiss” a tale of hope. Black airmen were readily accepted, initial suspicion, distrust and even hatred followed a path from forbearance to friendship and even to love and marriage.

On November 10, 1984, six-year-old Bradley Eugene Gilbert was playing outside his aunt's home in Chillicothe, Texas, with his three-year-old brother Jason. By early afternoon, Jason came running back to the house crying. Bradley had told him to run. When Jason turned back, his brother was gone. The search for Bradley was immediate and massive. Hundreds of volunteers joined law enforcement, Texas Rangers, and the FBI. Flyers, bloodhounds, hypnosis sessions, and even national campaigns followed. Bradley's photo appeared on milk cartons and before movies in theaters across the country. Leads spanned from Amarillo to Florida, from New York to Oklahoma. For 141 days, Chillicothe searched and hoped. Then, in April 1985, the case changed from a missing person to the thing everyone feared: a homicide. Nearly four decades later, Bradley Gilbert's murder remains unsolved. If you have any information about the abduction and murder of Bradley Eugene Gilbert, please call the Hardeman County Sheriff's office at (940) 663-5374, or Texas Crime Stoppers at 800-252-8477. _______________________________________________________________________________You can support gone cold and listen to the show ad-free at patreon.com/gonecoldpodcastFind us at https://www.gonecold.comFor Gone Cold merch, visit https://gonecold.dashery.comFollow gone cold on Facebook, Instagram, Threads, TikTok, YouTube, and X. Hi Stef, I've been wondering: If love is an "involuntary response to virtue," how can a parent love an infant? Can't animals display virtues, at least in a rudimentary fashion, as much as babies? ThanksI believe that individualism vs collectivism is the issue beneath all issues and that adopting a “content of character” mindset rather that a “judge by immutable characteristics” mindset, is the only peaceful and prosperous path forward for humanity. Most people are decent, and if we separated the world by decent people vs assholes there would be a lot less incentive to be assholes. Thoughts?Does philosophy come more naturally to honest people who are naturally attuned to the truth? Is it moral for a man to give his son a leg-up?- a good home with a loving mother- a virtuous example- a free college education- help with a home or business?Or is that unfair to another child from a poor and broken home? Can UPB define truth?i.e. it's the interpretation that could be useful to everyone.Do we have a moral duty to fight evil and pursue virtue? Are humans LLMs, with an extra mechanism on top ?Where does philosophy end and religion begin? What is more destructive: greed or jealousy

In this episode, I examine the complexities of social anxiety linked to internalized critical voices from parents. Using a metaphor of facing a bully, I discuss how self-attack emerges as a defense mechanism against childhood abuse. I emphasize the need for open conversations with parents and the importance of therapy in navigating these issues.I also propose reframing inner critics as protective forces rather than adversaries, advocating a healthier self-relationship. I conclude by outlining a tripartite approach to healing that involves addressing external criticism, reshaping our inner narratives, and fostering self-kindness, encouraging listeners to pursue their own paths to healing.FOLLOW ME ON X! https://x.com/StefanMolyneuxGET MY NEW BOOK 'PEACEFUL PARENTING', THE INTERACTIVE PEACEFUL PARENTING AI, AND THE FULL AUDIOBOOK!https://peacefulparenting.com/Join the PREMIUM philosophy community on the web for free!Subscribers get 12 HOURS on the "Truth About the French Revolution," multiple interactive multi-lingual philosophy AIs trained on thousands of hours of my material - as well as AIs for Real-Time Relationships, Bitcoin, Peaceful Parenting, and Call-In Shows! You also receive private livestreams, HUNDREDS of exclusive premium shows, early release podcasts, the 22 Part History of Philosophers series and much more!See you soon!https://freedomain.locals.com/support/promo/UPB2025

The episode offers an in-depth conversation between Stefan and a 23-year-old caller struggling with feelings of emptiness post-conversion to Catholicism. The discussion reveals the caller's affluent but isolating upbringing, marked by the early death of his mother and the pressures to excel academically in music. The pandemic exacerbated his challenges, leading to a breakdown and withdrawal from music school. The conversation explores his anxiety, social awkwardness, particularly in romantic contexts, and his complex family dynamics, where differing ideological views have further isolated him. Stefan encourages the caller to reframe his perceptions of relationships and mental health, promoting social engagement as a means to combat isolation. The episode underscores the interplay between personal history, mental health, and the necessity of community and connections in overcoming feelings of purposelessness.FOLLOW ME ON X! https://x.com/StefanMolyneuxGET MY NEW BOOK 'PEACEFUL PARENTING', THE INTERACTIVE PEACEFUL PARENTING AI, AND THE FULL AUDIOBOOK!https://peacefulparenting.com/Join the PREMIUM philosophy community on the web for free!Subscribers get 12 HOURS on the "Truth About the French Revolution," multiple interactive multi-lingual philosophy AIs trained on thousands of hours of my material - as well as AIs for Real-Time Relationships, Bitcoin, Peaceful Parenting, and Call-In Shows! You also receive private livestreams, HUNDREDS of exclusive premium shows, early release podcasts, the 22 Part History of Philosophers series and much more!See you soon!https://freedomain.locals.com/support/promo/UPB2025
Today, we discuss Israel beginning the first stages of a ground offensive into Gaza City. Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians are expected to be ordered to evacuate and head to southern Gaza. This escalation comes as Israel continues to restrict aid into the strip, with Palestinians facing widespread malnutrition. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said he is "shortening the timelines" for seizing what he described as "the last terror strongholds" in Gaza.Israel has also given final approval for a settlement project which would cut off the West Bank from East Jerusalem and further splinter the Occupied Palestinian Territories. The Far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich who unveiled the plans said the idea of a Palestinian state was "being erased".Adam is joined in the studio with Panorama filmmaker Jane Corbin, who has reported extensively on the region, and Jo Floto, the BBC Middle East Bureau Chief. You can now listen to Newscast on a smart speaker. At the end of July, President Donald Trump signed an executive order reinstating the presidential fitness test. The test was administered in public schools around the country from 1950 to 2012, when it was ended by President Barack Obama. After health columnist Gretchen Reynolds heard the news, she put out a call to Post readers asking about their memories of the presidential fitness test. Hundreds responded, many of them sharing vivid memories of humiliation and shame associated with the test. Elahe Izadi speaks with Gretchen about the origins of the test, what this new iteration of the test might look like, and what experts say about whether the test actually combats things like obesity and inactivity in young people. Today's show was produced by Peter Bresnan. It was mixed by Sean Carter and edited by Ariel Plotnick. Thanks to Emily Codik and Teresa Tamkins.Subscribe to The Washington Post here.
Sunday Morning Twitter Space 17 August 2025In this episode, I explore the interplay between perception and reality, focusing on Bitcoin as an intangible asset. Our discussion addresses overcoming past betrayals, the protective nature of rumination, and the impact of familial relationships on addiction. I stress the importance of accountability in breaking cycles of addiction for future generations and urge listeners to reflect on their responsibilities to others. This rich dialogue highlights the philosophical dimensions of regret and redemption in shaping our legacies.FOLLOW ME ON X! https://x.com/StefanMolyneuxGET MY NEW BOOK 'PEACEFUL PARENTING', THE INTERACTIVE PEACEFUL PARENTING AI, AND THE FULL AUDIOBOOK!https://peacefulparenting.com/Join the PREMIUM philosophy community on the web for free!Subscribers get 12 HOURS on the "Truth About the French Revolution," multiple interactive multi-lingual philosophy AIs trained on thousands of hours of my material - as well as AIs for Real-Time Relationships, Bitcoin, Peaceful Parenting, and Call-In Shows! You also receive private livestreams, HUNDREDS of exclusive premium shows, early release podcasts, the 22 Part History of Philosophers series and much more!See you soon!https://freedomain.locals.com/support/promo/UPB2025
Anna Corrigan grew up in Dublin, Ireland. She thought she was an only child, until she was in her 50s and discovered a family secret. Corrigan found documents showing her mother had spent time in one of Ireland's so-called mother and baby homes — places where single women went to give birth. And that she had given birth to two sons there. Two brothers that Corrigan never knew she had. It's part of a sad history in Ireland that is now being unearthed, literally. Scientists believe that nearly 800 babies and children are buried in a mass grave behind one former mother and baby home in Tuam, Ireland.NPR's Lauren Frayer reports on the work that forensic scientists are now doing to bring those remains to light. For sponsor-free episodes of Consider This, sign up for Consider This+ via Apple Podcasts or at plus.npr.org.
