Series: That God May Be All In All
In this episode of the H3X Podcast, Dave Miller reflects on how an old FFA motto — “Learning to do, Doing to learn, Earning to live, Living to serve” — unexpectedly provides a framework for disciple-making and leadership development. Drawing from a recent marketplace ministry discussion, he explores the tension between training and learning, execution and essence, and how the “radical middle” bridges both worlds. Through stories of mentorship, engineering, and ministry, Dave illustrates how maturity and wisdom grow through action, reflection, and grace. Listeners will walk away with renewed clarity on how to integrate faith, work, and mission through a mindset of abundance rather than scarcity.Referenced Concepts and Tools:FFA Motto: Learning to do, Doing to learn, Earning to live, Living to serveThe “Radical Middle”: Balancing training with learning, execution with essence“Bucket and Drip” training approach — content download followed by long-term application“Practices and Principles” framework for disciple-makingMarketplace ministry tensions: mechanics vs. maturityAbundance mindset vs. scarcity mindset in leadership developmentReal-life illustrations: engineering mentorship, disciple training, and multi-city collaborationTakeaways:The harvest field is the great equalizer — practice reveals what training can't.Wisdom is earned through the doing — grace fills the gaps.Unity grows when the mission focuses outward, not on competing paradigms.

What would our relationships look like if we led with humility, gentleness, patience, and love? Stu Quackenbush continues our Ephesians study and reminds us that real unity isn't about agreeing on everything. It is about choosing to care for one another the way Jesus cares for us. And the only way we can live that out is through Jesus, our One Hope.

Recognizing deception, submitting to truth, and walking together in faith. The discussion centered around false teaching, legalism, and the nature of the flesh, with emphasis on the need for discernment and submission to God's truth. The conversation explored how legalism originates from false teaching and how the enemy uses deception to attack the character of God revealed through Christ. The group reflected on how each of the Gospels presents a different facet of Christ—His humanity, servitude, genealogy, and divinity—and how understanding these aspects strengthens faith and guards against error. They discussed that while the enemy cannot stop God's redemptive plan, false teaching can distort how believers experience grace. We emphasized the importance of humility, submission, and maintaining unity within the body, explaining that proper teaching protects believers from the influence of the flesh. The group also discussed the balance between resting in God's will and remaining actively submitted to His leading through the Holy Spirit. The meeting concluded with reflections on community, the importance of prayer for one another, and future direction—including prayer for God's guidance about a permanent meeting place and potential radio outreach to extend their ministry.Themes: Discerning false teaching and legalism Submitting the will to God for true rest Unity and humility within the assembly Dependence on the Holy Spirit for understanding The divine purpose of community and prayerScripture References: 2 Corinthians 4:4Reflection Question: Where might I still be striving in my own strength instead of resting in the finished work of Christ?
Guarding our hearts against false teaching and finding unity in Christ. We discussed how legalism often arises from false teaching, reflecting on 2 Corinthians 4:4 and the enemy's efforts to blind hearts and minds from the truth. Together, we looked at how each Gospel reveals a unique aspect of Jesus—His humanity, servanthood, lineage, and divinity—and how this full picture strengthens our faith. We affirmed that while the enemy constantly tries to distort truth, God's redemptive plan remains unstoppable and victorious. We also talked about the importance of serving one master and staying rooted in our identity in Christ. False teaching can appeal to the flesh and lead to self-dependence, so we reminded ourselves of the need for constant cleansing through the Word and submission to God. We reflected on how returning to grace protects us from deception, and how humility and submission bring rest rather than striving. Our conversation turned toward community and divine purpose, emphasizing prayer, unity, and the vital role of the local assembly in strengthening one another. We encouraged each other to keep seeking God's will together and to stay sensitive to His Spirit's guidance regarding future direction—whether that means a new meeting space, radio outreach, or simply continuing to grow together in grace and truth.Themes: Discernment against false teaching and legalism The battle between the flesh and the Spirit Submission and humility as protection from deception Unity and purpose within the body of Christ Dependence on the Holy Spirit for directionScripture Reference: 2 Corinthians 4:4Reflection Question: Where in my own walk am I still relying on self-effort instead of resting in the truth and grace found in Christ?

Tune in here to this Thursday edition of the Brett Winterble Show! Brett kicks off the program by discussing the negative opinions surrounding the demolition of the East Wing at the White House. He uses this story to spark a discussion about unity — and what it really means in a country of more than 300 million people. Describing unity as “the golden cow of political rhetoric,” he remarks that unity without purpose is merely “conformity with better branding.” Later, Brett addresses the ongoing issues of illegal immigration and the cost of living in the United States. He references an article from "The American Thinker" that examines illegal immigration through what it calls “the lens of simplicity.” The article states that regardless of whether the statistics have been manipulated, the fact remains that a significant cost is placed on U.S. taxpayers as a result of this form of immigration. Today we’re joined by Dick Morris, author of “The Real Charlie Kirk”. In this exclusive interview, Morris says he worked closely with Charlie Kirk while campaigning for Donald Trump during the 2024 election. He adds that he was proud to work with Kirk on advancing his agenda, which Morris describes as “not compromising, but rather explaining how the Christian movement and politics interfaced.” Listen here for all of this and more on The Brett Winterble Show! Higher education has a civic mission. The public knows that, but faculty and administrators seem to have lost sight of it. Instead of transmitting shared civic principles, universities often frame civics through polarized partisan lenses. Restoring civic education to its unifying role would require teaching democratic practices and constitutional ideals in ways that encourage pluralism rather than entrench division.Guest Daniel DiSalvo joins us to discuss how civic education can help university students and the broader public disagree better and act together. Daniel DiSalvo is professor and associate dean of the School of Civic Life and Leadership at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute. He serves on the Public Scholars Advisory Committee of the Moynihan Center and was previously professor of political science at the City College of New York-CUNY.This podcast discusses themes from an essay by DiSalvo and Carlo Invernizzi Accetti in the Fall 2025 issue of National Affairs: “Civics, Partisanship, and the Academy.”

Leonard Peltier calls on Native Americans to come together in the ongoing fight for many of the same issues he championed in the early days of the American Indian Movement. After President Joe Biden commuted his life sentence in the deaths of two FBI agents, Peltier emerged from nearly a half century in federal prison to a hero's welcome by his supporters and dismay by federal law enforcement officials and other detractors. In many respects, he picks up where he left off, speaking up for equitable treatment for Native people and defiance against a system he says is stacked against them. We'll hear from Peltier about his life now beyond a prison cell and also discuss the coordinated effort that finally secured his release.
Zach sits down with Mike and Kim Anderson, coaches and founders of Blended Family Breakthrough https://www.blendedfamilybreakthrough.com/ , to talk about one of the hardest relationship challenges couples face, making a blended family work. After marrying in 2001, Mike and Kim found themselves struggling to balance parenting roles, discipline, and loyalty in a home that combined Kim's daughter from a previous marriage with their two biological children. What began as love quickly became a crash course in blended family dynamics, emotional triggers, and communication breakdowns. Now, through their coaching practice and podcast, they help other couples avoid the painful mistakes they made. They share key principles like “connection before correction,” learning how to define shared values, and understanding the emotional traps that can divide couples, like the trapped teammate and stranded stranger dynamics. This episode offers a roadmap for couples trying to bring unity, clarity, and compassion to blended family life. Connection before correction - Step-parents should focus on building trust and emotional connection before taking on discipline. Parent from partnership - Couples must agree on shared values and expectations before implementing household rules. The “trapped teammate” dynamic - Bio parents often feel torn between loyalty to their child and loyalty to their spouse. The “stranded stranger” dynamic - Step-parents may feel like outsiders in their own home when bonds between bio parent and child are strong. Define shared values clearly - The same word (like “respect”) can mean different things to each partner; clarity prevents conflict. Bio parents lead discipline - Children accept correction better when it comes from the parent they already trust. Hope is part of the process - Healing and harmony take time, but strong remarriages can model healthy relationships for the next generation. Founders of Blended Family Breakthrough https://www.blendedfamilybreakthrough.com/ , Mike and Kim are coaches, authors, and hosts of the Blended Family Breakthrough Podcast https://www.blendedfamilybreakthrough.com/podcast. Drawing from their own challenges and victories, they help couples strengthen their marriages, unite as parents, and build thriving blended families. 4. The 2014 Kremlin Decision and Ukrainian Unity Against Russian Imperialism. Serhii Plokhy (Professor of Ukrainian History at Harvard University) discusses the all-night Kremlin meeting on February 23–24, 2014, where Vladimir Putin and his state security chiefs unilaterally decided to annex Crimea and fragment Ukraine. This scene exemplifies modern Russia's nature as a dictatorship, where critical decisions are made by one man—Putin, a former FSB chekist—without democratic oversight. Putin's dictatorial powers are legally based on the super-presidential constitution approved in 1993, following Boris Yeltsin's actions against the parliament. Previously, Putin built credibility by being brutal during the conquest of Chechnya in 1999. A longstanding stereotype divided Ukraine between westward (often Roman Catholic/cosmopolitan) and eastward (Orthodox/Russian-speaking) orientations. While Russia exploited these existing linguistic, cultural, and religious tensions in 2014 to facilitate the seizure of Crimea and initiate hybrid warfare in Donbas, the ultimate effect of the 2014 aggression was the creation of a much more unified Ukrainian society than had ever existed before. Moscow's failure to recognize this post-2014 change was a fundamental miscalculation when invading in 2022.
