In episode 20, I share how life has been since my suicide attempt 1 year ago. I began my healing journey on July 7, 2019. Within this past year, I have learned to love myself, create my own happiness from within, be alone, and mend relationships. To assist with my healing journey, I prayed more, read more books, meditated, and spent more time with family and friends. I may not be where I want to be but I thank God I'm not where I use to be. I am proud of the progress I have made and the woman I am evolving into. Ashley was joined by Counselor/Mentor Jarvis "JB" to have a conversation about the clinical work he does in regards to mental health. JB has been doing clinical work for 5 years now and he works with males between the ages of 11 to 15 years old. JB creates a safe place for youth, specifically boys, to be open and to share their struggles with mental health. JB teaches his youth that it's okay to be vulnerable and to feel emotions. JB shares his passion for mental health and he also shares his own personal struggles with mental health. "Shoutout to all the men going through a lot, with no one to turn to, because this world wrongly taught our males to mask their emotions and that their strong means silent."

Prestin talks about his healing journey, what he does for self-care and gives advice to those that are struggling with suicidal ideation.
It is National Suicide Prevention Month! According to the AFSP suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the US. In Episode 5 I talk about my suicidal ideation and attempt.
