EPISODE 4: The journal of Samuel St. James, Kansas City, 1870… Sam St. James (born New York state, 1840) was Civil War officer, natural scientist and cartographer, known for documenting several government-sponsored exploratory trips through Wyoming, the Green River, and the Rocky Mountains. He left little behind beyond a mysterious journal documenting an exploratory trip out West before the turn of the century. Here's part of that journal.
