They discuss two topics: the supervision clarification advisory opinion from the Arizona Board of Nursing and the opt-out of Medicare Part A physician supervision requirements in Massachusetts. McKinnon shares his perspective on these issues and emphasizes the importance of removing barriers to competition and promoting a level playing field in healthcare.KeywordsCRNA, supervision clarification, advisory opinion, Arizona Board of Nursing, AA, opt-out, Medicare Part A, physician supervision, MassachusettsTakeawaysRemoving barriers to competition and promoting a level playing field in healthcare is important. The supervision clarification advisor opinion from the Arizona Board of Nursing allows CRNAs to supervise other health professionals. The opt-out of Medicare Part A physician supervision requirements in Massachusetts eliminates the perception of supervision and reduces liability concerns for CRNAs.The opt-out also simplifies contract negotiations and promotes collaboration between CRNAs and surgeons.CRNAs should have the opportunity to choose the model of care that best suits their practice and the needs of their patients.More states should consider opting out of Medicare Part A physician supervision requirements to improve access to care and increase provider options.Chapters00:00Introduction and Background of Michael McKinnon01:04Supervision Clarification Advisor Opinion in Arizona05:21Opposition to Anti-Competitive Legislation09:31Opting Out of Medicare Part A Supervision Requirements in Massachusetts12:20Impact of Opting Out on CRNAs and Service Line Management16:29Future Plans and ConclusionFollow us at:InstagramFacebookTwitter/X

According to sources from CBS Sports' Dennis Dodd, Arizona is currently engaged in serious discussions about leaving the Pac-12 conference and joining the Big 12. After days of deliberations, the Wildcats appear to be strongly leaning towards the Big 12 as their future conference, which has been their home since 1978. The Arizona Board of Regents, responsible for overseeing both Arizona and Arizona State, is holding an executive session on Thursday night to discuss "possible legal advice and discussion regarding university athletics." It is presumed that the main topic of the discussion will be conference affiliation. Despite the discussions, there is a considerable sentiment within both athletic departments that a separation between Arizona and Arizona State is not desired and is unlikely to happen. One high-ranking source mentioned that it would be extremely surprising if the Wildcats left their Sun Devil rivals behind in the Pac-12. Power brokers at both schools, including key members of the Board of Regents, prefer to maintain the unique UA-ASU rivalry and partnership and do not want to see a split. The question remains whether the Big 12 would be willing to expand to 16 members by bringing in Utah along with Arizona. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Tonight, the Arizona Board of Regents will meet in Executive Session to discuss allowing the Presidents of Arizona and Arizona State to negotiate conference affiliation. After recording, the Washington Board of Regents will meet for a similar reason later today. The good people down in Tallahassee have had it with the ACC and are planning to challenge the ACC's Grant of Rights which could mean paying half a billion dollars. There is a season on the way, but conference realignment is wilder than any game on the field could be. It is not hyperbole to say that today could be doomsday for college football unless it isn't.

News continues to flow from the PAC 12 that Arizona and Colorado are looking to make a move to the BIG 12, and that it seems, brings BIG 12 expansion ever closer to reality. But with the news the Arizona Board of Regents is willing to let the University of Arizona move to the BIG 12, but at what cost? Will the ABOR allow Arizona and Arizona State to part, and become independent in athletics? ASU, who is already in a less than ideal position athletically, also has to contend with a less than ideal budget situation, even after record investment from ASU. In Fall 2022, at ACTA's ATHENA Roundtable in Washington DC, a remarkable morning panel was hosted by Doug Sprei, Higher Ed Now producer and ACTA's Vice President of Campus Partnerships and Multimedia. The session, titled "How Civil Discourse Can Change Campus Culture," was graced by a cohort of panelists who are truly leading lights in the national movement to bring respectful discourse to college campuses and classrooms. All are cherished colleagues and allies of ACTA, and they included April Lawson, Managing Director of Debates and Public Discourse at Braver Angels, who co-founded and co-directs the national College Debates and Discourse Program; Manu Meel, CEO of BridgeUSA; as well as Deondra Rose, the Kevin D. Gorter Associate Professor of Public Policy, at Duke University's Sanford School of Public Policy; and Karrin Taylor Robson, who served on the Arizona Board of Regents from 2017–2021, and who also founded the Regents' Cup, a remarkable student debate competition in her home state. The session was designed to take on some of the format and tone of an actual Braver Angels debate, and invited lively audience participation.

Natalie Burke MSW. DBH Candidate CEO W.E.L.L Athletic Development Twenty years ago I was convicted of a non violent marijuana related charge. I served my sentence of 120 days (4months), 3 yrs probation , community services, and paid my restitution. I paid my debt to society and fulfilled my obligation to the justice system. In the interim, I developed a deep spiritual relationship with the Most High, I did tons of self development including pursuing a higher education. I did a holistic 180 turn for the better. My career and personal life metamorphosed into a far better version of myself. It took a lot of hard work and discipline to not return to my old life when there was so much temptation. Then to my surprise in the middle of the night, my son and I had dinner and we're watching a movie, I.C.E. knocks on my door and callously locks me up in front of my son. I was detained in a federal facility for 18 months fighting to stay in the only country I had known. During this time I realized my calling to become a Social Worker. In the Federal detention center I provided resources and support to the women I was locked up with. After being released I attended Arizona State University and received my Bachelor's and Masters degrees in Social Work. In 2016, the State of Arizona granted me my rights back and set aside my criminal record, so I was able to purchase a fire arm, pass a background check etc. I was suppose to be freed from any disability that a felony conviction would pose. Apparently the issue that I thought was reconciled and left in my past was not according to the federal government. Unbeknownst to me my charges left me deportable. The only thing that can help me to regain my freedom is a gubernatorial pardon. Jan 26, 2018 the Arizona Board of Executive Clemency granted me a favorable recommendation for a gubernatorial pardon. I have waited 5 long hard years in hopes that the former governor Doug Ducey would grant me the pardon. On December 30,2022 he denied my pardon application. As a result At a moments notice I can be deported back to Jamaica. I came to this country legally as a permanent resident in April of 1979 at the age of 3. I have lived as an American for 43 years. Marijuana is now legal in the state of Arizona, it is disheartening that what I was criminalized for has now become a billion dollar industry. Most of the people capitalizing from cannabis don't look like me however, the people incarcerated for it do. I am compelled to share my story in hopes that someone in a position of power will help me attain a pardon so that my family can remain together. I am unable to work, have no access to health insurance, I had a stroke a few months back. It would be an injustice to let my son be punished by taking his mom away. I never committed murder and I deserve a second chance. Although I did the time I was sentenced to, day after day my mind continues to be imprisoned by the fear of being deported. My heart is wounded by the betrayal of a country that I love, yet I feel so unloved by. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jackierowe/message

Let's get into it: DENVER (AP) — In yesterday's state of the state speech to lawmakers, Colorado Gov. Jared Polis laid out his vision to tackle the state's sky-high housing prices - including proposals to roll back building regulations, open public land to affordable housing development, and support innovations such as pre-built units.Polis, a Democrat re-elected in November, also touched on efforts to combat climate change, lower the state income tax, measures to reduce crime, and expanded education funding.Polis, the first openly gay governor in the U.S., starts his second term after a shooting at a Colorado Springs gay nightclub in November left five dead and has renewed calls by Democrats to enact stricter gun regulations.Looking down from the gallery were Richard Fierro and Thomas James, two patrons who tackled the shooter inside the club, as Polis read the names of those killed, asked for a moment of silence and nodded towards concerns around “spiraling hate speech.”Polis addressed gun violence but largely skirted Democrat proposals that included raising the minimum age to buy guns and potentially banning assault weapons.Polis told reporters after his address. “We are happy to discuss other ideas about how we can improve gun safety in Colorado and honor our Second Amendment rights," Polis lauded government intervention on housing, citing a ballot measure that Coloradans passed in November that dedicates an estimated $300 million annually to affordable housing. Polis said he also plans to “aggressively” free up parcels of state-owned land for low-income units.Polis gave his speech — which referenced everything from electric vehicle tax credits to "The Lord of the Rings” character Gandalf the Grey — after securing almost 60% of the vote in a state where Independent voters are one-third of the electorate. Polis's appeal has stirred rumors of a future presidential run.“Our state might be shaped like a square but the political pundits can't put us in a box,” Polis said. “We are a state that just this year voted to once again cut income taxes, while legalizing magic mushrooms.”Jesse Bedayn is a corps member for the Associated Press/Report for America Statehouse News Initiative. Democrats enjoy large majorities in both legislative chambers.House Speaker Julie McCluskie, a Democrat from Dillon, said “This session, we'll pass legislation to protect our water and air, invest in our schools, improve public safety, and make our state more affordable. Our first five bills are just the beginning, and we're excited to get to work building a Colorado where everyone can thrive,” In the House, the first five bills center on education investments, health care costs, mental health, language accessibility and water efficiency.House Bill 23-1001 would expand the eligibility for financial assistance and loan forgiveness for educators to address the state's teacher shortage. It is sponsored by Democratic Reps. Cathy Kipp of Fort Collins and Barbara McLachlan of Durango and Sen. Rachel Zenzinger of Arvada.House Bill 23-1002 would create an EpiPen affordability program for people who do not have health insurance. It would cap the cost of a two-pack of EpiPens, often used to treat severe allergic reactions, at $60. It is sponsored by Rep. Javier Mabrey, a Denver Democrat, and Sen. Dylan Roberts, an Avon Democrat.House Bill 23-1003 would form a mental health assessment program for Colorado youth in order to identify student mental health concerns and direct them to resources. It would be available in public schools for students in sixth through 12th grades. It is sponsored by Rep. Dafna Michaelson Jenet, an Aurora Democrat, and Sen. Lisa Cutter, a Littleton Democrat. In the Senate, the first five bills introduced involve housing, health care costs, education and workforce development for mental health and forestry professionals. The bill is sponsored by Roberts, Zenzinger, Rep. Shannon Bird, a Westminster Democrat, and Rep. The bipartisan bill is sponsored by McCluskie, Sen. Kyle Mullica, a Federal Heights Democrat, Sen. Cleave Simpson, an Alamosa Republican, and Rep. Mary Bradfield, a Colorado Springs Republican.Senate Bill 23-3 would create the Colorado Adult High School Program for adults to earn a high school diploma at no cost and enter the workforce. Here's what you need to know. The parent application for Colorado's new free preschool program opened yesterday— a major milestone in the march toward the program's launch next summer. The program, funded in part by a voter-approved nicotine tax, will offer 10 to 15 hours a week of tuition-free preschool to 4-year-olds statewide, with some eligible for 30 hours a week. In addition, some 3-year-olds will be eligible for 10 hours a week early childhood education.Families who fill out the application by Feb. 14, will find out what preschool their child matched with on March 10.State officials expect about 30,000 children to opt into the universal preschool program in its first year. That's about half the number that will be eligible. SO: Who gets free preschool and what age do they have to be?Three groups of children qualify: all 4-year-olds, some 3-year-olds who need extra help, and a small number of 5-year-olds who are too young for kindergarten. The goal is for kids to be more prepared for kindergarten. Some 4-year-olds will get 30 hours of free preschool a week, including those from lower-income families, kids who speak a language besides English at home, are homeless, in foster care, or have disabilities. The new preschool program will also cover 10 hours a week of preschool for 3-year-olds in these same groups. What's involved in the application? Are there income requirements? Many families will need about 15 minutes and not much else. The application is offered in English, Spanish, and Arabic, and parents should be able to complete the application on a cell phone or computer. Families that earn up to 270% of the federal poverty limit — about $81,000 a year for a family of four —will need to upload documents that prove their income. Can I pick my child's preschool?Yes. Families will be asked to pick up to five preschools they'd like their child to attend and will be able to rank their choices. Options include school-based preschools, church-based preschools, preschool programs inside child care centers, and state-licensed home-based preschools. Children will be prioritized for a spot in a preschool if they're already enrolled there, if a sibling is enrolled there, or if a parent works there. When does free preschool start in Colorado?August or September of this fall, depending on the specific preschool. Katie Hobbs. Dubbed the Promise for Dreamers Scholarship Program, the $40 million dollar investment is aimed at supporting undocumented students who've attended an Arizona high school for at least two years. Scholarships from the program help fund four years at one of the state's three public universitiesThe new scholarship program debuted in Hobbs' State of the State speech last week, where she billed it as an extension of Proposition 308 which allows DREAMERS to pay in-state tuition and access state-funded financial help. Reyna Montoya, who was part of the effort to pass Prop. 308 said that even though it improves access to higher education, but it doesn't resolve the inequality undocumented students face at the federal level. To fill out the FAFSA, which determines a student's eligibility for low-income loans and scholarships like the Pell Grant, citizenship is a requirement. If you're a low-income student, typically you have other supports, like the Pell Grant,” Montoya said. If you're a Dreamer, and you're getting ready to graduate from high school, you're not eligible. Even paying in-state tuition is going to be a steep challenge if you're trying to pay for school completely out of your own pocket.“Seeing the same heartache time after time — I get the chills to think that we can have different conversations with our students looking ahead. We don't have to tell them, ‘You're limited to these extremelydifficult pathways if you want to obtain an education,'” she said. Montoya is also hopeful that the scholarship will benefit the state's future by creating a more educated workforce and helping to mitigate labor shortages. Arizona is currently grappling with teacher vacancies and faces a projected nursing shortage by 2030. “This would really help us close a lot of the workforce gaps that we have in the state,” she said, adding: “It's in our benefit to see education as an investment rather than an expense.” Potential future benefits are a significant argument in favor of the scholarship, said Tyler Montague, chairman of the Yes on 308 campaign. “It's a big payback. Everybody that we get through college — as compared to just high school — makes $650,000 to $1 million more over their lifetime, and they're putting that money back into the economy. And they pay, on average, $380,000 more over their lifetime in taxes, which is a massive financial return,” he said, citing national studies. Also important to consider are the social returns that college grads provide, Montague added. People who earn a college degree are less likely to incur social costs, and are more involved in their communities. Montague hopes that the Republican-majority legislature gives the scholarship fund a fair shot, and keeps in mind the support that voters gave Prop. 308 as an indicator for the consensus around aiding undocumented youth in the state. “I would hope that the legislature takes their cue from (308) and acts accordingly,” he said. The proposition passed with a narrow 51% majority, but the approval across party lines was widespread, with as many as 27% of Republicans and 54% of Independents voting yes. Still, while Arizona voters agreed to level the playing field in university tuition rates, some Republican leaders in the legislature are balking at opening up access to state-funded scholarships. “Gov. KATIE HOBBS in her State of State stated that she would like to invest $40 million to help pay for illegal immigrants to attend college in Arizona,” tweeted House Majority Leader Leo Biasiucci. “What about LEGAL citizens of Arizona or any other state?” Hobbs' budget proposal also includes an equivalent $40 million increase to the state's existing Arizona Promise Program, which she estimated on Monday could benefit as many as 10,000 more students. Last year, 4,000 students benefited. While the underlying legislation of Prop. 308 found bipartisan support, and was proposed by a Republican state senator, Hobbs' initiative may face an uphill battle in a statehouse with a more conservative bent to it. Enacting it through legislative channels isn't her only option; she could resort to issuing an executive order or negotiate with the Arizona Board of Regents, which oversees the state's universities. It's unclear, however, what path the governor's office will take; they did not respond to questions about what strategies it might consider to create the new scholarship fund.CONCERT PICK OF THE WEEK:Billy Strings has 3 sold out shows February 2, 3, and 4 at the 1st Bank Center in Broomfield. Three of them have bipartisan sponsorship.Senate Bill 23-1 would provide $13 million to the Public-Private Partnership Office to encourage affordable workforce housing on state-owned land. “Gov. Join America's Roundtable Radio co-hosts Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy in a recent conversation with Arizona's State Treasurer Kimberly Yee focusing on her leadership role in countering the dangerous anti-Israel BDS (Boycott, Sanctions, and Divestment) movement. The conversation highlights the rise of anti-Semitism and how principled leaders across America are calling for principled actions against the BDS movement—a hateful campaign designed to delegitimize Israel and Jewish communities in America and around the world. Arizona State Treasurer Kimberly Yee put investment firm Morningstar on notice and stated that it violated the state's anti-BDS law. The Jewish Insider | Morningstar ESG rating system violates Arizona anti-BDS law, treasurer says (https://jewishinsider.com/2022/08/arizona-kimberly-lee-morningstar-esg-sustainalytics/) “As Treasurer, it is my duty to ensure that Arizona does not do business with companies that are attempting to undermine Israel's economy and violate Arizona's anti-BDS law,” said Arizona Treasurer Kimberly Yee. “Morningstar's ESG rating subsidiary, Sustainalytics, appears to violate Arizona law by negatively impacting ratings of companies doing business in Israel. I continue to strongly oppose the use of woke ESG ratings in order to keep politics out of Arizonan's livelihoods and retirement accounts.” In Treasurer Yee's letter to Kunal Kapoor, CEO of Morningstar Inc., she informed Kapoor that the company had 30 days within receipt of her letter sent on August 18, 2022, to provide written certification explaining how Morningstar's usage of ESG ratings does not violate Arizona's anti-BDS law. Further, Treasurer Yee required that Morningstar must provide a written averment that they will not engage in any future boycott activities against Israel. “As Arizona's Chief Banking and Investment Officer, I stand with Israel, and I will not allow taxpayer dollars to become victim to the woke political gamesmanship of ESG ratings. ESG ratings are a political scorecard, not a financial scorecard,” said Arizona Treasurer Kimberly Yee. “I will not allow companies to promote policies that are antisemitic and discriminatory efforts against Israel, which is America's longtime friend and ally, and a significant trade partner with Arizona.” Treasurer Kimberly and Arizona's state government have stood in support of Israel's sovereignty and thwarted efforts of American companies working to boycott Israel. Last year in September 2021, Treasurer Yee withdrew $143 million of Arizona's public funds from Unilever, the parent company of Ben and Jerry's over the ice cream firm's decision to cease sales in Judea and Samaria also known as the West Bank, and east Jerusalem. A published report stated (https://www.foxbusiness.com/politics/arizonas-state-treasurer-divests-funds-ben-jerrys-anti-semitic-boycott-israel) — "Arizona will not do business with companies that are attempting to undermine Israel's economy and blatantly disregarding Arizona's law," said Treasurer Kimberly Yee. Join America's Roundtable Radio co-hosts Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy in a conversation with Kimberly Yee, State Treasurer of Arizona (https://www.aztreasury.gov/treasurer-kimberly-yee)and former Arizona Senate Majority Leader. Arizona and the Arizona Treasurer's Office was the first state to divest state funds from Ben & Jerry's due to their Israeli settlement boycott in Judea and Samaria last September. On September 7, 2021, Arizona State Treasurer Kimberly Yee's divested $143 million of public funds from Unilever PLC, Ben and Jerry's parent company. Treasurer Kimberly Yee provides the latest update on Ben & Jerry's and the actions taken by its parent company Unilever. "As Arizona Treasurer, I've divested all state funds from Ben & Jerry's for boycotting Israel," Yee tweeted (https://twitter.com/KimberlyYeeAZ/status/1435279685399678982?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw). "Israel is and will continue to be a major trade partner of AZ. #IStandWithIsrael and I will not allow taxpayer dollars to go towards anti-Semitic, discriminatory efforts against Israel." The discussion with Arizona State Treasurer Kimberly Yee also focuses on America's inflation surge and the solutions presented to address the nation's energy crisis and the national security at the southern border. Arizona spans more than 370 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border. The U.S. Customs and Border Protection is on pace to make more than 2 million arrests along the Mexico border during the 2022 fiscal year. On the energy front, Kimberly Yee has been a leading voice to hold to account the U.S. banking industry and the world's largest asset managers when it comes to efforts to boycott energy companies. In November 2021, Treasurer Yee joined a coalition of 15 Republican Treasurers, Auditors, and Comptrollers of states representing over $600 billion in public assets with a warning that it could potentially reduce future business with banks that cut off financing for oil, gas, and coal. The letter reads: "We have a compelling government interest, when acting as participants in the financial services market on behalf of our respective states, to select financial institutions that are not engaged in tactics to harm the very people whose money they are handling. Further, we have the responsibility, as fiduciaries and stewards of more than $600 billion (https://oilprice.com/Energy/Energy-General/Republican-States-Could-Pull-600B-From-Anti-Fossil-Fuel-Banks.html), to ensure that our financial service providers are free from harmful conflicts of interest that could jeopardize state funds. Our guest for this episode realized early on in her career as a nurse executive that a traditional health system career path was not for her. Since then she's done everything from work as a clinical professor in a college of nursing, serve as the president of a state nursing board, write a number of nursing textbooks, and consult with hospitals and health systems on innovation and leadership. Given the depth and breadth of Kathy Malloch's career, it makes sense that her conversation with Dan would be similarly wide-ranging. Today they talk about where education for nurse leaders can improve, the tool sets that are needed in complex systems, how Kathy handled cases involving medical errors when she was the president of the Arizona State Board of Nursing and what she sees as the obligation of nurses to continually advance their skills and the profession. Beene, they are joined by attorney Kelsi Lane, member of the State Bar of Arizona Board of Governors to explore:Access to Justice in Arizona...what is being done to increase accessibility? How do rules get changed regarding legal procedures?Who and how are lawyers disciplined?

Kevin B. Earle, MBA, MPHwww.usdentaltriage.com for the patients and thenwww.drivendentalmarketing.com/emergencyMr. Earle has been working with the dental profession for much of his career. He led the Arizona Dental Association for eleven years from 2007 through 2019. He came to organized dentistry from a distinguished career in healthcare regulation, having previously served as the ExecutiveDirector of the Arizona Board of Dental Examiners, the NewJersey Board of Dentistry and the New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners. He is an Honorary Fellow of the American College of Dentists, the International College of Dentists and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. He holds a BA in Public Affairs from George Washington University, an MBA from Rutgers University and an MPH from Columbia University. In an effort to help emergency room doctors keep the focus on COVID-19 patients, Kevin has launched a special emergency response campaign for dental procedures.Every 14 seconds someone goes into the emergency room for a dental related issue. Emergency rooms are not equipped to handle definitive dental care. With the government limiting many dentist offices to handling urgent care and some of them actually closing, people are having challenges finding a dentist to treat their dental emergency or, they simply aren't going into the emergency rooms out of fear of contracting the coronavirus. Dentists are experts in infection control. This is why it's so important for patients to get connected to a dentist when experiencing pain or infection. I recently launched the U.S. Dental Triage so that we can help keep people out of the emergency rooms by connecting them with dentists who can treat them. What other precautions will dentists take to make sure the patient stays safe when visiting their office? The dentist will ask you to call them once you arrive at the office and they will come out to the car to get you and take you directly to a pre-sterilized room. The dentist and dental assistants will be wearing gloves and masks, and you will be isolated from any other patients on the premises. How will this also aid the healthcare workers in the dental community?Since many dental offices are closed across the country and only able to operate for dental emergencies, we are providing a solution to that. Many patients are unable to reach their dentist offices to schedule appointments and we are able to help thedentists with scheduling and new referrals to allow them to stay in business and provide lifesaving emergency services to people who need attention asap. For Dentist:Why is it important to you that a service like this exists? The coronavirus pandemic has added so much stress to the dailylives of our fellow Americans, we can address the additional stress of finding a dentist to handle an emergency dental case. Why is it beneficial to see a dentist as opposed to going to the emergency room?Emergency rooms are only equipped to handle to address the symptoms - - addressing pain or infection with pain medication orantibiotics. They aren't staffed to handle definitive dental treatment like fillings, root canals or extractions. These areservices that can really only be addressed in a dental office. What is considered a dental emergency? The American Dental Association Dental recently published a statement about dental emergencies. These are conditions that “are potentially life-threatening and require immediate treatment to stop ongoing tissue bleeding [or to] alleviate severe pain or infection.” Conditions include uncontrolled bleeding; cellulitis or a diffuse soft-tissue bacterial infection with intraoral or extraoral swelling that potentially compromises the patient's airway; or trauma involving facial bones that potentially compromises the patient's airway. As part of the emergency guidance, the Association added urgent dental care which “focuses on the management of conditions that require immediate attention to relieve severe pain and/or risk of infection and to alleviate the burden on hospital emergency departments.”We are available 24 hours a day and we will direct you to an available dentist that accepts your insurance and will see you right away. The dentist will then be able to do an online screening with the patient to make sure that they don't have symptoms of coronavirus themselves, and that their symptoms comply with the American Dental Association's list of urgent care procedures.Rhonda Peoples, Licensed & Certified B.A.N.K. Hiring a great home inspector is a key part of the due diligence or inspection period. Getting a home inspection is like getting a physical from your family doctor. The home inspector will check out all of the home's systems to make sure that they are working properly, and recommend you follow up with a specialist (plumber, roofer, etc) if there are any signs of issues. Choosing the right home inspector can be the difference between relaxing in your new home or potentially spending thousands of dollars on unexpected repairs. One of the first things you should do to ensure you get a great home inspector is to check with the Arizona Board of Technical Registration. You can find their website at https://btr.az.gov.If you have questions about hiring a home inspector or are ready to start the home buying journey, please feel free to reach out to me.Christopher EppichAssociate BrokerHomeSmart(480) 295-9431 CellChris@YourFirstHomeAZ.com

Kim Buck, LPC and CSAT, joins the show, to share her excitement in the concept of prodependence, and her own experience in integrating it within the treatment of her own clients. Kim has over 15 years of clinical experience as a therapist and works in multiple modalities depending on the clients needs. As the Clinical Director at Family Strategies Counseling Center in Arizona, she runs treatment programs for hundreds of people. She and Rob also talk about the difference between the codependence and prodependence models, and the changes she has seen firsthand in her treatment centers when implementing this model. TAKEAWAYS: [2:31] Kim heard about the concept of prodependence and was an early adopter, using it in her own practice. The concept of codependency helped in her own recovery, however there were concepts in the model that she found shaming and blaming towards the partner experiencing betrayal. Prodependence addressed those issues for her, and she aligned with it due to how it lessens the blame of the betrayed partner. [8:02] Kim started rewriting some of the curriculum for the partners to integrate the prodependency model. She now has three active prodependence groups for partners of sex addicts, and they learn how to take care of themselves and set boundaries in this time of crisis. [11:56] The first goal of Kim’s work is to help them sort through the mess of their partner’s actions, and offer them support and hope. If they need the additional work, it will come organically. However, oftentimes in the early stages of treatment, people just need support and understanding while they are in crisis mode. [17:34] Prodependence invites the addict to look in the mirror and not blame the other partner for their actions. It increases the chance that a betrayed partner will come back and question what they did in the past, creating a mutually agreed upon opening to explore and grow. [22:45] For Kim, she had some fundamental issues with some of the concepts of codependency, and found that prodependency served to depathologize rather than pathologize. It removes the idea that the partner has an illness that is causing the partner to act out, and instead understands that most often they are just trying their hardest to solve a problem dragging their life down the drain. [28:01] The goal of codependency which is self care and detachment is valid and necessary, but trouble comes in when blame is placed on the partner and sees them as part of the problem. They are trying to manage the crisis and the craziness.” “They are not trying to fight through a label or diagnosis when they walk through our door.” “We don’t make someone wrong, we make them right.” “Find another partner of an addict who doesn’t feel crazy.”

Can Using Emojis Get You in Trouble? You know what emojis mean. Otherwise, you wouldn't use them. Right? One recent University of Minnesota study found that there can be vast differences between what you and your recipient think that emoji means.Use the wrong emoji, and you may have some explaining to do. What you think is a smile on your iPhone could look more like a grimace on the recipient's end who is using a different device. Cases in which courts must determine what emojis mean are few and far between, but they do appear from time to time. In one case, a University of Michigan law student accused a fellow student of stalking. The fellow student had texted the victim messages calling himself a "petty bastard" and saying that he wanted to make her "feel crappy". The fellow student attempted to argue that the "wry" emoticons he used negated the threatening and harassing nature of the other texts. The court disagreed and held that the emoticons did not change the meaning of the texts. My guests today believe that while litigation involving emojis is sparse, uncertainty around what emojis mean could have important implications in legal proceedings down the road. Higher Education and the New Economy: Crisis or Opportunity? - Audio
Christine Thompson, the Arizona Board of Regents' assistant executive direction of government affairs, spoke with Fahey during the session. She said these and other funding complexities are often misinterpreted and not understood. Greg Fahey, University of Arizona's associate vice president for external relations, said that during the 1970s and 1980s the state's university system was something of a juggernaut. Thompson and Fahey also said such shifts also have partially led toward decreased earmarks for the university system and an increased reliance on tuition and fees, federal grant dollars and private funds by way of donations. The scene is, in some areas, dire, they noted. March 4, 2010.
