Tips For Tomorrow

Anna and Victoria talk with Alicia McFarland, a coordinator for Early Childhood Programs at Ventura County Office of Education. With a plethora of experiences and resources, Alicia shares ideas for teaching young children during Distance Learning, while keeping a focus on developmentally appropriate practices like provocations and building wonder. Alicia also shares considerations about how we might serve families of young children during Distance Learning.

Anna and Victoria discuss what they learned from Alicia McFarland about supporting young children during Distance Learning, focusing on relationships and learning through play. Anna and Victoria meet with Paige Gonzales, an educator at Ocean View Junior High School in Oxnard, California.  Paige teaches a Social Emotional Learning class to sixth, seventh, and eight grade students.  Today she shares what she has learned and how teachers can meet their students’ social emotional needs during the distance learning environment and beyond.
