A podcast about surfing, surf progression, community, friendship and the stories of surfing women. Listen in to conversations about the joys and challenges of being a regular woman with a serious surfing addiction.
In this episode, I sat down to chat with Sarah Farlow and it was just what I needed! Sarah is a passionate surfer and traveler, she shares openly about her time working in the Mentawai's as a surf guide and the journey she went to on to get there. In a season of lockdowns, restrictions and home schooling, taking some time out to reflect on the joys of travelling and surfing in the tropics was a real treat. I was so inspired by Sarah's sense of adventure, her willingness to believe in herself to step into exciting (sometimes scary) new situations and her joyful positive vibe. Her story is a fantastic example of how when one door closes, often an even better door opens! Sarah shares some great advice about travelling in the topics which has helped me through some of my fears around feeling out of my depth over there. I really hope this episode will get you thinking about stepping into that next adventure in your own life. I would love to get your feedback on this podcast and any other episodes you have listened to, you can like and subscribe or dm me @tropical_winter_podcast on Instagram. In this Episode I sat down with my good friend Kate to record her absolutely epic story. Kate is a renowned Vedic Meditation teacher here on the south coast of NSW, and her journey to becoming who she is today will take your breath away. Kate is a wonderful example of how important it is to connect mind and body and to respect your intuition. Sitting with Kate and hearing the full version of what she has faced and overcome has been a privilege and I am so stoked to be able to share it with you. Kate's passion to be in the ocean is evident, and the way that surfing has opened up pathways of connection and healing for her is incredible. I have loved being a part of her surfing journey and witnessing her dream life unfolding. This is a nice long listen, perfect for a road trip, long walk or some solid housework. I hope you enjoy it. Kate can be found at kateciffmeditation.com.au or on Instagram @kateciffmeditation where you can learn more about the wonderful work she does.
Did you know that the Australian Ambassador to Peru, Her Excellency Diana Nelson, is a surfer? I was so excited to be put in touch with her via her sister in law Michelle, who is my bus stop buddy many mornings as we get our kids off to school. Diana has lead an incredibly interesting life working for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, having held postings in many locations around the world. She is currently in charge of the Australian Embassy in Lima, Peru and is totally in love with surfing! Diana was so generous in sharing about her work, her life in Peru and her personal surfing journey. I've been dreaming of a Peruvian surf trip non stop since we spoke. This was my first attempt at recording over Zoom and I was pretty pleased with how it went. I'm still blown away that I can have a video conversation with someone on the other side of the world! Also a huge thanks to Emily Dennis @emily_dennis_music for writing and performing a magical guitar piece for this podcast. We had a lot of fun recording it and I'm stoked that she's allowed me to use it and share it with you. I hope you enjoy listening in.
Thanks for joining me for Episode 2 of the Tropical Winter Podcast. In this recording I sit down with Sonia Rivas to chat about her life of surfing. She has some fantastic insights and stories to tell. I was so inspired by her self belief and attitude to life and have taken away lots of little challenges for myself. I hope you enjoy the listen. Feel free to share this podcast and if you haven't already, go check out Episode 1 with Kathy Thomas.
Listen in as I chat to Kathy Thomas about her surfing journey. In this episode Kathy gives a great rundown of her recent trip to the Urbn Surf wave pool in Melbourne and offers some great advice for anyone planning to head there. Kathy talks about her surfing goals in a 'progression session' and we basically just have a great surf chat about some topics that I think lots of lady surfers will relate to. Apologies for any dodgy mic stuff, I'm learning on the go. Enjoy, and feel free to leave your feedback, comments or suggestions about topics you would like us to cover in the future.
