What Happens After Menopause? What are the positives....if any??In the absence of anyone with first hand experience Sal and I have trawled the internet to find a meaningful answer to the questions: What Happens AFTER the menopause? We wanted to know - what would we be like, both physically and mentally? Is there anything positive we can look forward to?We had a look at information and articles provided by people who should know and learned that amongst others, some of the benefits of the post menopause are.... because we can see death sharply in the distance it is less frightening and you can't fall victim to the male accusation 'are you on your period?' when you are feeling upset. Hmmm. You can imagine what Sal and I think of these so-called 'benefits'. So we looked harder and found many things written about post-menopause to make us truly happy and we share them with you in this last episode of the series.
Menopause - Gaining weight and is it time to improve yourself? In this episode Sal and Alison take a look at why we gain weight during the menopause process. And ask, is this a good time to take a long hard look at improving yourself? The two women explore how we can go about taking care ourselves physically, to safeguard our futures and to avoid the next 30 years being stuck in a chair. What really are the benefits of starting that now?Sally and Alison also share their experiences of how they try to look after themselves at this age and how it means Alison can put her socks on in the morning without falling over (and no, it's not because she sits on the bed).
Menopause - The partner's point of view - warts and allHere's an interview with my husband Rob about how he's coped with MY menopause. He came to the interview armed with the telephone number of the the local hostelry so he could book a room if we kicked him out and the telephone number of a divorce lawyer if things took a turn for the worse. He needn't have worried. He caught us on a good day and we listened to what he had to say with interest. Amongst many other things... Rob tells us what the most difficult things are that he's had to deal with and how best to approach the woman you wish to support.
Episode 3 takes a wider view of the menopause and first, we listen to some horrendous stories about how menopause has been viewed over the years. As recently as the 20th Century it was considered that women were predisposed to insanity. Tis enough to make your blood boil (if it isn’t already because of any menopause symptoms). Sal and I then consider how we view ourselves now we’re getting older. How do we feel about the way we look and how do we think society sees us now?
In this podcast Sally and I discuss how we can deal with those irritating and/or debilitating menopause symptoms. Ideas range from taking drugs to moving furniture, via magnets in your pants, alternative therapy and even willpower…… Don’t miss it….
Menopause: What is it and what are the symptoms? In this first episode we ask ourselves; why do women go through the menopause and are we the only species that does? And just what is the menopause exactly? And does it hurt? Sally and I try to understand more about the menopause, discovering that we start with 7 million eggs and end up with flat feet (potentially) - all as a result of this life-changing process that is happening to our bodies.
