Why is it that some people eat well, exercise consistently, and still struggle to lose weight? If you've ever felt like your body is fighting against you instead of working with you, today's episode may provide the missing piece. Emerging research suggests that fat cells don't just store energy they may also act as a protective buffer against chronic inflammation. That means your body could be swelling existing fat cells or even creating new ones in response to internal stress, toxins, hormone imbalances, or immune activation. So on today's Cabral Concept 3673, I'll break down the research behind how inflammation disrupts fat-burning hormones and share practical strategies to lower inflammation, so your body no longer feels the need to hold onto protective fat. Today, I am thrilled to connect with Dr. Sonya Jensen, a naturopathic physician on a mission to transform how women understand themselves and their bodies. She believes women are central to their families and communities, and by supporting women, we create a ripple effect that supports the whole. In our conversation, we explore the sense of selfishness many women feel when advocating for their needs, and why choosing ourselves, especially in midlife, is essential. We discuss science-versus-soul transformations, gestational silence and trauma, and the physiological effects shaping this generation and those to come. We also unpack how stress impacts the immune system and autoimmunity, why stress reduction techniques are the key to vagus nerve activation, the link between mental health and hormones, womb-wisdom and generational influences, how grief and sadness can influence us profoundly, and the value of trusting our intuition and embracing the gifts of aging. I know you will enjoy this discussion with Sonya Jensen. She shares a gentle, loving, and kind message for women- one that is well worth reflecting upon. Be sure to keep an eye out for her upcoming book, Heal Your Hormones, Reclaim Yourself, scheduled for release in early 2026, where she connects hormonal chaos, emotional overload, and relationship pain through her integrative method. After the recording, Dr. Jensen noted a clarification: there were 50 famines in total during British rule in India, not 50 famines in a single year. IN THIS EPISODE, YOU WILL LEARN: How awareness practices can help you become more physically regulated when things feel overwhelming Why friable emotions are not due to personal failure or a faulty mindset How to reconnect with your body The benefit of body-based practices for supporting nervous system regulation What is womb wisdom? In this episode of The Health Fix Podcast, Jay Campbell, best known for being the testosterone replacement therapy guru shares his two-decade plus journey into the world of peptides and hormone replacement therapy and how these compounds have transformed not just physique and fat loss, but metabolic health and longevity. This conversation goes far beyond weight loss headlines and dives into the mental benefit side of health optimization. **We get real in this episode and there's some swear words so if you're listening with kiddos around listen with caution** What You'll Learn In This Episode: Why GLP peptides are reshaping obesity treatment The power of microdosing peptides, especially GLP-1's, for sustainable results Why education is the missing link for both clinicians and patients Injectable vs oral peptides — what actually works The role of lifestyle optimization alongside peptide therapy How misinformation (and AI amplification) is distorting public perception The humanitarian mission to make peptide therapies more accessible Peptides Are a Tool — Not a Shortcut Jay emphasizes that GLP peptides can dramatically improve metabolic health but without lifestyle changes, long-term success is limited. For those who want to stay active and adventure-ready, peptides may: Improve insulin sensitivity Reduce inflammation Support fat loss Enhance recovery But they are meant to amplify effort, not replace it. Microdosing Changes the Game One of the most powerful strategies discussed is microdosing. Rather than high-dose protocols aimed purely at appetite suppression, strategic lower dosing can: Preserve muscle mass Reduce side effects Improve metabolic flexibility Support long-term sustainability This is particularly important for athletic or active adults who don't want to lose performance while improving body composition. Injectable > Oral Jay explains why injectable peptides remain the gold standard due to bioavailability and effectiveness. Understanding delivery method matters especially for those investing in advanced health strategies. The Future of Obesity Treatment We're entering an era where next-generation GLP and triple-agonist peptides are transforming how we address: Insulin resistance Chronic inflammation Fat loss resistance Metabolic disease But access, education, and responsible use are critical and why Jay and I do podcasts like this! Health Optimization as a Spiritual Practice One of the most compelling parts of the conversation: When you optimize your biology, you elevate your capacity; physically, mentally, and spiritually. Health isn't vanity. It's vitality. It's freedom. It's staying in the game. If you feel tired but wired, struggle with hormone imbalances, poor sleep, blood sugar crashes, or stubborn symptoms, the issue may not be what you're eating, but when. Your circadian rhythm is the master system coordinating your hormones, metabolism, digestion, and nervous system. In this episode, we break down circadian rhythm in a practical, real-life way. This isn't just about sleep. It's about how your body knows what time it is and what it should be doing. We cover how light, food timing, and movement act as biological signals for cortisol, melatonin, thyroid function, mitochondrial health, and even hormone production. We also dive into why poor sleep, PMDD, irregular cycles, afternoon crashes, and even skin flare-ups may stem from circadian disruption. If you've been focusing on supplements, elimination diets, or protocols without seeing results, this episode will show you the foundational layer you might be missing. What You'll Learn In this episode, we discuss: What circadian rhythm actually is (and why every cell has a 24-hour clock) How cortisol and melatonin should rise and fall naturally The difference between sunrise, UVA rise, and UVB light How circadian rhythm impacts thyroid hormone conversion (T4 to T3) Simple habits to support sleep, metabolism, and nervous system regulation Chapters 00:00 – Why circadian rhythm impacts hormones & sleep 04:14 – Every cell runs on a 24-hour clock 09:44 – Cortisol timing, digestion & metabolism explained 14:23 – Sunrise: the master reset signal 20:53 – UVA rise & hormone production (pregnenolone, thyroid, insulin) 27:45 – Sunset & melatonin preparation 32:18 – The role of food timing in circadian rhythm 35:29 – Vitamin D vs. melatonin (seasonal shifts explained) 39:09 – Movement timing & workouts 41:36 – Signs your circadian rhythm is off 45:55 – Practical habits you can implement immediately Resources & Mentions My Circadian App Circadian Rhythm Resource Blue Light Glasses Circadian Lighting How to Turn Your iPhone Red Want to Work With Us? What if perimenopause isn't a breakdown… but a biological upgrade? In this episode of Why Isn't Everyone Doing This?, Emily sits down with Dr. Maritza Snyder to dismantle one of the most damaging narratives women have inherited: that midlife marks decline. Dr. Maritza reframes perimenopause as a powerful remodel. A hormonal recalibration that, when understood and supported, can lead to deeper clarity, stronger boundaries, sharper cognition, and expanded vitality. They explore: Why perimenopause is not “pre-menopause” in the way we've been taught What's happening in the brain and nervous system during this transition How stress physiology impacts symptoms The connection between hormones, identity, and purpose Why this chapter can feel like an initiation rather than an ending Dr. Maritza also shares her personal healing journey after a concussion forced her to radically reimagine her health, and how envisioning her future healthy self became the turning point in her recovery. This conversation is both science-based and soul-based. Practical and empowering. In this episode, I sit down with Nikolina Lauc, CEO and Co-Founder of GlycanAge, and we dive into a questions that should stop every midlife woman in her tracks: is menopause actually accelerating your biological aging? What if the shift from perimenopause to menopause could age you up to nine years in just six months? And more importantly, what can you do about it? We unpack what biological age really means (and why it's not the same as your chronological age), how inflammation quietly drives aging and disease, and why estrogen may be one of the most powerful longevity tools we have. Is HRT just symptom relief, or is it actually protecting your future health? And why are so many women still being told to "just wait it out"? I also share my own GlycanAge results and what they revealed about my cardiovascular risk and immune aging. Can you actually reverse your biological age? How early can we detect risk for heart disease or other chronic conditions? And how much of this is in your control? This conversation might completely change how you think about aging in midlife. In this episode, we uncover: How menopause can accelerate biological aging dramatically. Why estrogen plays a critical role in immune and heart health. What biological age really measures beyond just your birthdate. How glycan testing detects disease risk years before symptoms. Why HRT may be able to reduce all-cause mortality by 40%. Want deeper support? Join Circle at holplus.co/circle and use code PODCAST for a one-month trial. What if the real issue in women's health isn't that women are “doing it wrong,” but that the entire wellness system was built on research, protocols, and performance standards designed for male bodies? In this solo episode, Dr. Taz breaks down why bro science and modern biohacking culture often backfire for women, and how pushing harder, optimizing more, and chasing protocols can quietly drive hormone chaos, burnout, inflammation, and nervous system dysregulation. She explains why so many women are told their labs are “normal” while their bodies are clearly signaling that something is off, and how medical models that isolate symptoms fail to capture how women's systems actually work. This episode is rooted in the same clinical patterns that led Dr. Taz to writeThe Hormone Shift. After years of watching women come into her practice exhausted, inflamed, and dismissed by conventional care, she began documenting the repeating cycles she saw across life stages, from teens to perimenopause to post-menopause. You'll learn why women were historically excluded from research, how that gap still shapes today's treatment models, and why intensity, calorie restriction, and rigid optimization strategies may worsen hormonal imbalance, metabolic stress, and emotional exhaustion in female bodies. This episode reframes women's health as a whole-body system, not a protocol stack, and explores why safety, rhythm, recovery, and regulation matter more than force. This conversation reframes healing as a process of supporting interconnected systems, not overriding them. Hormones, gut health, immune function, nervous system regulation, emotional safety, stress load, and life stage are not separate variables. When these systems fall out of sync, symptoms multiply. When they are supported together, the body can restore balance, energy, and resilience.Dr. Taz shares: • Why bro science and biohacking trends often backfire for women • How “normal labs” can still mean your body is not functioning optimally • Why women's bodies were historically excluded from research and how that impacts care today • How pushing harder, restricting calories, and overtraining disrupt hormones and metabolism • Why women's nervous systems require safety, rhythm, and recovery to heal • How stress physiology, trauma patterns, and life stage shape women's health outcomes • Why hormones don't act in isolation, but communicate with the gut, immune system, and brain • Where modern tools like HRT, GLP-1s, peptides, and protocols fit and where they fall short • How to build a sustainable, personalized approach to women's health that works with the body, not against itWhether you're feeling dismissed by your labs, burned out from trying every new wellness trend, or frustrated by protocols that seem to work for others but not for you, this episode offers a grounded, integrative framework for understanding what women's bodies actually need.Women don't heal through force. They heal through safety, rhythm, and whole-system support.Stay Connected:Connect further to Hol+ at https://holplus.co/- Don't forget to like, subscribe, and hit the notification bell to stay updated on future episodes of hol+.Follow Dr. Taz on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/drtazmd/https://www.instagram.com/liveholplus/Subscribe to the audio podcast: https://holplus.transistor.fm/subscribeSubscribe to the video podcast: https://www.youtube.com/@DrTazMD/podcastsGet your copy of The Hormone Shift: Balance Your Body and Thrive Through Midlife and MenopauseHost & Production TeamHost: Dr. Taz; Produced by ClipGrowth.com (Producer: Pat Gostek)Chapters0:00 Women told it's “normal” and “in your head” 1:13 Holistic approach and the “five bodies” 1:25 Why Dr. Taz is done with “bro science” 4:25 “Your labs are normal” and the dismissal problem 5:20 Why biohacking culture worsens women's health 6:10 HRT, IVF, peptides, GLP-1s without a holistic context 8:18 Why AI and protocols can't replace the whole-woman lens 9:01 What bro science gets wrong (intensity, restriction, isolated hormones) 10:31 Life stage, stress load, nervous system, trauma, lineage 11:45 Bias against women and what it means in the exam room 13:28 Why “evidence-based” fails women when studies exclude women 14:20 What “evidence-based holistic medicine” actually means 16:19 Stats on women's health disparities and research gaps 17:55 Where are you on the health spectrum: powering through vs powering up 18:21 Identify your biggest symptom and quality-of-life limiter 20:00 Don't let “normal labs” end the story, track patterns over time 21:10 Female stress response, intuition, and cortisol sensitivity 24:15 Hormones, gut, immune system triangle and inflammation 27:00 Stress processing differences and guardrails 28:15 Safety as the foundation of women's health 30:10 Women's rhythms: hormones, sleep, food, nervous system 32:50 A woman's body doesn't respond to force 34:25 What holistic healing for women actually looks like 35:39 Closing: share this with a woman who needs it (00:00) - Women told it's “normal” and “in your head” (01:13) - Holistic approach and the “five bodies” (01:25) - Why Dr. Taz is done with “bro science” (04:25) - “Your labs are normal” and the dismissal problem (05:20) - Why biohacking culture worsens women's health (06:10) - HRT, IVF, peptides, GLP-1s without a holistic context (08:18) - Why AI and protocols can't replace the whole-woman lens (09:01) - What bro science gets wrong (intensity, restriction, isolated h...
Summary In this episode, Ali Damron discusses the complexities of hormonal imbalances, particularly in women experiencing perimenopause. She emphasizes that while hormones play a significant role in various symptoms, lifestyle factors such as chronic stress, self-criticism, and lack of boundaries are often overlooked. Ali explains how the nervous system's state can impact overall health, digestion, and emotional well-being. She advocates for a holistic approach to healing that includes understanding the nervous system, managing stress, and practicing self-compassion. The conversation concludes with practical strategies for improving health and well-being. Takeaways Many women blame their hormones for various symptoms. Lifestyle factors often contribute more to hormonal issues than hormones themselves. Chronic stress can lead to a state of fight-or-flight, affecting overall health. The nervous system plays a crucial role in digestion and hormone regulation. Self-compassion is essential for managing stress and improving health. Healing the nervous system involves doing less, not more. Creating a sense of safety in life can improve health outcomes. Practical strategies for stress management can enhance well-being. Understanding the connection between stress and physical symptoms is vital. Consulting with a healthcare provider can help address unique health concerns. sound bites "My hormones are a mess!" Hormone balance is not a supplement problem, but a foundation problem. In this episode, Dr. Jen speaks with Dr. Serena Russum and Dr. Heidi Codino, The Hormone Heroines, about how food quality, fiber, protein, sleep, stress, detox pathways, and endocrine disruptors can quietly derail hormones from puberty through menopause, and why ‘quick fix' hormone plans can backfire when the basics are missing.Dr. Jen speaks with the Hormone Heroines, Dr. Serena Russum and Dr. Heidi Codino, about hormone balance, nutrition foundations, endocrine disruptors, sleep, stress, gut health, and why lifestyle comes before supplements or hormone therapy.Dr. Serena Russum and Dr. Heidi Codino, Hormone Heroines, are naturopathic physicians and award-winning speakers specializing in women's health from puberty through menopause. If your tongue could talk, it would tell you it affects far more than speech — from sleep quality and hormones to jaw development and restless kids. In this episode I interviewed Kristi Dobbs, a dental hygienist and myofunctional therapist from Roberts Integrative Dentistry, about how oral posture, nasal breathing, tongue-tie releases, and simple device and exercise-based therapies can transform sleep, behavior, pain, and overall health. What myofunctional therapy is: muscle-focused therapy for the face, tongue, jaw, and soft palate (like physical therapy for the neck up). Some modern lifestyle contributors to poor jaw development: softer diets, early solids/formula, early tooth removal and braces timing.Common signs linked to oral function problems: narrow palate, long face, gummy smile, mouth-breathing, snoring, TMJ, speech issues, picky eating, digestive problems, plantar fasciitis. The four pillars of myofunctional therapy: nasal breathing, lip seal, correct tongue posture, and proper swallowing.Device options: MyoMunchie (from ~6 months), Myobrace, Myo nozzle/Remplenish, and Invisalign palatal expansion when needed.Tongue-tie approach: pre- and post- myofunctional therapy plus a laser release and suturing to optimize outcomes and retrain function.Timing and commitment: therapy typically runs 12 sessions over ~6 months; results improve with ongoing maintenance exercises but require occasional practice to retain gains.Integration with other therapies: best results come when myofunctional therapy is combined with ENT, SLP, chiropractic, massage/lymphatic work, orthodontics, and other integrative providers.Virtual options: evaluations and much of the therapy can be done via telehealth; surgical procedures require an in-person provider.Contact Kristi Dobbs and Roberts Integrative Dentistry:Myofunctional Therapy Info: https://robertsintegrativedentistry.com/oral-myofunctional-therapy/Roberts Integrative Dentistry Phone and Email: (417) 246-3029 and office@robertsintegrativedentistry.comMyofunctional Therapy can be performed virtually.Signs and symptoms of disordered breathing: https://mail.google.com/mail/u/1/#inbox/FMfcgzQfBkQwSbXXmnqckwjRmgSCfkTp?projector=1&messagePartId=0.1New Resource: Breast Health Guide - dailywellnesscommunity.com/breast-health-guide→ Please take 1 minute to show your support of the show! Join her free health & longevity newsletter here: https://www.drvondawright.com/resources/aging-longevity For years, we've focused on the external markers of health, but I've become increasingly obsessed with the internal landscape, specifically, how the food we eat communicates with our biology. We used to view nutrition as just calories in and calories out, but we now know it's a sophisticated signaling system that dictates our hormones, our mood, and even how we age. If you've felt like you're doing "everything right" but still feel exhausted or out of balance, the missing piece isn't your effort; it's likely the lack of foundational support for your internal "Amazon jungle", your gut microbiome. In this episode, I sit down with the brilliant Dr. Amy Shah to discuss her new book, Hormone Havoc, and the simple yet profound framework she's developed to help women reclaim their vitality. We explore how moving away from restrictive diets and toward a science-backed "30-30-3" rule can stabilize your hormones, lower systemic inflammation by nearly 20%, and finally give your body the fuel it needs to thrive through perimenopause and beyond. What we explore: - How the "30-30-3" framework simplifies nutrition for busy women by focusing on protein, fiber, and fermented foods. - Why eating 30 grams of protein in your first meal is a non-negotiable for mental focus and managing midlife cravings. - Why fermented foods like sauerkraut and yogurt act as a "walkie-talkie" to signal your immune system and lower inflammation. - How a daily goal of 30 grams of fiber can lower mortality by up to 10% by feeding your beneficial gut bacteria. - The critical role of the "estrobolome", gut bacteria that specifically regulate how estrogen is processed in your body. - Why modern medicine often overlooks practical nutrition training and why you must be your own advocate. - How simple "hacks" like adding chia seeds or raspberries can rapidly close your daily fiber gap. - What science says about the power of "postbiotics" found in traditional foods like sourdough bread. About the Dr. Amy Shah: Dr. Amy Shah is a double board-certified medical doctor and nutrition expert who has taken the digital world by storm with her mission to help women feel less "effing tired". Send a textIn this episode of Skin Anarchy, Dr. Ekta Yadav sits down with double board-certified dermatologist Dr. Sabrina Fabi to examine how hormonal signaling actively shapes skin resilience, recovery, and structural integrity. This conversation moves beyond trend-driven skincare and into the biology that determines how skin functions at every stage of life.Dr. Fabi emphasizes that skin constantly responds to hormonal shifts. Changes in progesterone, estrogen, testosterone, and neurohormones influence collagen production, barrier strength, inflammation, muscle tone, and healing capacity. Aging reflects signaling patterns — not just the passage of time. When hormones fluctuate, skin behavior changes.A central focus of the discussion is oxytocin. While most people associate oxytocin with bonding and mood, Dr. Fabi explains that skin contains oxytocin receptors that participate in local repair and inflammatory signaling. That neuroendocrine connection reframes how we think about resilience. The brain and skin communicate continuously, and hormonal signaling drives that dialogue.Dr. Fabi applies this signaling-first framework directly through XOMD. Instead of topically applying exogenous hormones, she built XOMD around activating intrinsic pathways that support recovery and tissue strength. The focus remains on optimizing communication within the skin rather than overwhelming it with isolated actives.Throughout the episode, she challenges casual aesthetic culture and reinforces the importance of individualized, long-term planning. Hormones shape anatomy, metabolism, and tissue quality — treatment strategies must reflect that complexity.Listen to the full episode to hear Dr. Sabrina Fabi break down hormonal biology, oxytocin science, and how XOMD advances a more intelligent approach to skin resilience.SHOP XOMD SkincareDon't forget to subscribe to Skin Anarchy on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or your preferred platform.Reach out to us through email with any questions.Sign up for our newsletter!Shop all our episodes and products mentioned through our ShopMy Shelf!Support the show
What if your hormone imbalance is not just a hormone problem, but a nervous system and emotional overload problem? In this episode of The Ben Azadi Show, Ben Azadi welcomes back Dr. Sonya Jensen to explore why so many women feel puffy, inflamed, exhausted, and hormonally off even when labs look “normal.” Dr. Jensen connects inflammation, cortisol, progesterone depletion, estrogen dominance, and liver support with the deeper layers most people miss: stress patterns, identity roles, generational stories, and the constant input from news and social media.
Are you constantly looking at your husband like he's the villain, only to realize your "normal" was actually a cry for hormonal help? Your nervous system is constantly scanning for safety, and if things feel tense with your spouse, your body stays stuck in a stress response that no amount of supplements can fix.Today, I'm talking with marriage coach Haley Teixeira about why emotional safety is the actual foundation for hormonal health. We're diving into how our childhood wounds and patterns create a "protective" internal environment in our relationships that physically deregulates our minerals, leaving us feeling exhausted. You'll hear:How a lack of safety creates a mineral barrier that blocks rest and tanks your energyWhy being your parents' "emotional confidant" as a kid is still driving your stress todayWhy stepping out of protection mode is the best pro-metabolic shift for your marriageThis episode uncovers your body's habit of building a literal calcium wall when your home feels like a pressure cooker. Pop it on while you make dinner tonight, because honestly, it's a lot easier to fix your minerals than it is to find a new husband who doesn't "breathe so loudly".Nourish Tracker - Discount code: HAPPILYHORMONALDownload the new 20-min private podcast training - Simply Nourished CyclesBook a FREE Hormone Strategy Call with meCONNECT WITH HALEY:WebsiteNEED HELP FIXING YOUR HORMONES? In this episode of the Female Health Solution Podcast, I break down what happens when women commit to six months of targeted hormone support using DUTCH testing, personalized protocols, and real lifestyle shifts. I'm sharing real client examples and the behind-the-scenes reasons why so many symptoms finally start to resolve when we stop chasing quick fixes. We talk about why hormone changes don't happen overnight, why six months is the sweet spot for real, measurable progress, and how testing takes the guesswork out of your symptoms so you're not wasting time, energy, or money on things that miss the mark. In this episode, I cover: Why DUTCH testing gives us clarity that standard labs miss What actually changes between your initial DUTCH test and your 6-month retest Why symptoms like low libido, fatigue, anxiety, weight gain, and terrible periods often trace back to cortisol, not what you've been told The difference between capacity and living in survival mode Why regulating your nervous system can feel uncomfortable before it feels better How women regain energy, mood stability, creativity, libido, and resilience What it looks like when your period stops running your life Why seeing your progress on paper helps rebuild trust with your body I also explain why so many women have been dismissed, gaslit, or told to "just deal with it," and how retesting helps you stay connected to what your body actually needs long-term. If you're tired of white-knuckling your way through exhaustion, mood swings, brain fog, painful periods, or feeling like you don't recognize yourself anymore, this episode is for you. Ready to see what six months could change for you? The Hormone Foundations Program is our most popular 1:1 program where we: Run an initial DUTCH Complete test Support you with personalized recommendations for six months Address cortisol, nutrient deficiencies, sleep, cycle issues, and more Retest at six months so you can see your progress in black and white Learn more: https://drbethwestie.com/hormone-foundations-program/
It's 2:47 AM. You are exhausted. But your eyes pop open, and suddenly your brain decides it's the perfect time to plan dinner for next Tuesday, worry about an email you sent three years ago, or wonder why your hip hurts. If you're tired of staring at the ceiling while your husband snores peacefully beside you, thinking, "Why can everyone else sleep but me?"—I want you to know: You are not broken. You are not failing. And you are definitely not alone. Today, I'm going to share the exact strategy I use with my private clients called the "Sleep Stack." We're going to calm that "tired but wired" feeling so you can finally get the rest you deserve. If you keep waking up at 3 AM—wide awake, restless, mind racing—this episode is for you. Midlife sleep changes are incredibly common, and they're rarely about one single thing. Often, 3 AM wake-ups are driven by a mix of cortisol rhythm shifts, blood sugar dips, hormone and temperature changes, and a nervous system that's been running in "high alert" for far too long. In this episode, I walk you through the most common reasons women wake up at 3 AM in midlife, and—more importantly—what to do about it. You'll learn how to build your personal Sleep Stack (a layered approach that makes sleep feel easier instead of harder) and you'll get a simple 3 AM Protocol you can use in the moment, so you don't spiral, don't suffer, and can fall back asleep faster. In this episode, we cover: Why 3 AM wake-ups are so common in midlife (and why it's not "just you") Cortisol spikes at night: what they are and how to calm them The blood sugar connection (and why it can wake you suddenly) Hormone + temperature changes that fragment sleep The "tired but wired" nervous system pattern (and how to downshift) The Sleep Stack: simple layers that support deeper, steadier sleep The 3 AM Protocol: what to do when you wake up so you can fall back asleep A gentle 7-day reset to help you stay asleep longer Resources + Next Steps If you want a gentle chat about next steps, schedule time with me here: https://calendly.com/lynnewadsworth/30min Free resource: Midlife Morning Menu https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/8q1mf8y6z9mqhys39ep4r/Midlife-Morning-Menu.pdf Connect with Lynne Website: https://holistic-healthandwellness.com Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/holistichealthandwellnessllc Private Community: https://www.facebook.com/groups/energized.healthy.women Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lynnewadsworth LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/lynnewadsworth Disclaimer: This episode is for educational purposes only and is not medical advice.

Hormones shift. Stress builds. Energy crashes. Emotions run high. And if you're not communicating clearly, resentment can sneak in.We talk about:What happens when one partner feels like they're “walking on eggshells”How burnout affects leadership in an FLRHormone shifts, irritability, and emotional overloadWhy saying “not today” is healthy communicationHow active listening saved what could've become a fightWhy honesty matters more than dominanceThis episode isn't about kink techniques or sex acts. It's about communication in a Female-Led Relationship, emotional awareness, and how to navigate real marriage tension without losing respect or connection. If you've ever wondered how FLR works in everyday life — when you're tired, overwhelmed, or just not in the mood — this episode is for you.Topics CoveredFemale-Led Relationship communication in real lifeActive listening in marriageEmotional burnout in FLR dynamicsHormonal shifts and irritability in long-term relationshipsWalking on eggshells in a power exchangeBoundaries and saying “not today”Supportive dominance vs pressureReleasing old episodes & rebuilding the podcastChastity updates (banana & berries included)Honest marriage conversations that strengthen power exchangeKey TakeawayFLR is not about perfection. Hormone therapy can be incredibly helpful and still not fix everything. If you began bioidentical hormone replacement therapy or menopause hormone therapy expecting better sleep, improved mood, weight loss, or relief from symptoms and it did not fully deliver, this episode offers a broader perspective. In this conversation, Janell Yule explores why hormones do not operate in isolation. They function within the terrain of your body, which includes digestion, detoxification pathways, blood sugar regulation, inflammation levels, and nervous system state. When those systems are under stress or depleted, adding hormones may only provide partial relief.Janell shares her personal experience with testosterone therapy and explains why supportive systems matter just as much as the hormones themselves. She walks through how the gut and liver metabolize hormones, how blood sugar instability and inflammation influence fat loss resistance, and how cortisol and nervous system patterns shape hormone utilization. This episode is not about dismissing hormone therapy. It is about recalibrating expectations and restoring clarity. If hormone therapy helped a little but did not fix everything, nothing has gone wrong. It may simply mean there is foundational support missing underneath it.In this episode, Janell explores:• Why hormone therapy can help but may not solve every symptom• The difference between BHRT and MHRT• Why hormones require supportive systems to work effectively• How gut health and detox pathways influence hormone metabolism• The role of blood sugar balance, insulin, and leptin• How cortisol and nervous system regulation impact hormone use• Practical ways to begin supporting your terrain this weekIf you have felt discouraged or confused by your response to hormone therapy, this conversation will help you zoom out and understand the bigger picture.Health Disclaimer:This podcast is for educational purposes only and is not intended as medical advice. Weight may shift. But sleep changes. Mood feels different. Body composition moves in unfamiliar ways. Libido quietly declines.Perimenopause and menopause often unfold alongside metabolic treatment, and the hormonal transition can complicate everything. In this episode, we connect midlife hormone changes with metabolic health. Dr. Cathleen “Dr. Cat” Brown, board-certified OB/GYN and Medical Director at Winona, joins us along with Kelly Miller, Winona Patient Ambassador, to discuss what's happening during perimenopause and menopause, why hormone replacement therapy is back in the conversation, and what changed after the black box warning. We also speak candidly about sexual health in midlife, an area that rarely gets the honesty it deserves. For women navigating GLP-1 treatment or broader obesity care, this conversation widens the lens. Send a textHow the body's internal circadian clocks regulate metabolism, energy balance, and health.TOPICS DISCUSSED:Master circadian clock in the brain: Light detection via retina entrains the suprachiasmatic nucleus, which coordinates body-wide rhythms; intrinsic period slightly deviates from 24 hours, allowing seasonal flexibility.Peripheral clocks in organs: Nearly all cells have autonomous clocks; liver and fat clocks rapidly adjust to feeding time, while brain clock aligns more tightly to light.Clock mutations and metabolism: Disrupting core clock genes (e.g., CLOCK, BMAL1) causes obesity, liver fat accumulation, and impaired insulin secretion without hyperinsulinemia.Timing of food intake: Eating the same high-fat calories during rest phase causes more weight gain than during active phase due to differences in energy dissipation.Modern disruptions (jet lag, shift work, blue light): Create desynchrony between brain and peripheral clocks, contributing to metabolic issues; late-night eating impairs glucose handling.Critical illness & feeding: Tube feeding at night (opposite natural cycle) induces rapid insulin resistance, highlighting mismatch costs.Hormone rhythms: Testosterone, glucocorticoids, and others peak at specific times; misalignment affects stress, reproduction, and metabolism.Weight loss drugs & maintenance: GLP-1 drugs reduce intake effectively, but regain involves neuroendocrine adaptations tied to brain clock pathways.ABOUT THE GUEST: Joseph Bass, MD, PhD is Chief of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Molecular Medicine at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Director of the Center for Diabetes and Metabolism, and a leading researcher who pioneered the link between circadian clock genes and metabolic disorders including obesity and diabetes.RELATED EPISODE:M&M 237 | Circadian Biology: Genetics, Behavior, Metabolism, Light, Oxygen & Melatonin | Joseph TakahashiSupport the showHealth Products by M&M Partners: SporesMD: Premium mushrooms products (gourmet mushrooms, nootropics, research). Today's episode is a metabolic reality episode because insulin resistance isn't rare and it's not something that suddenly appears out of nowhere. If we zoom out and we look at the landscape of metabolic disease, type two diabetes, cardiovascular disease, non- alcoholic fatty liver disease, insulin resistance sits at the center of all of it. And when we look at the data, close to ninety percent of metabolic disease is driven by lifestyle factors. This means it's how we eat, how we sleep, how we move, how we manage stress, and how sedentary or active we are over time. That makes this an everyday conversation. Insulin resistance shows up in women long before anyone ever uses that language. And most women, they can feel it before they can name it. We'll unpack insulin resistance, how this affects women different than men, insulin signaling, and what we need to do as women to stave off this complex issue. Is Pilates the missing piece for midlife hormone balance? In this episode of Confidently Balance Your Hormones, Dee Davidson, FDN-P, sits down with Beth Sandlin of Trifecta Pilates to discuss why Pilates is one of the most powerful forms of exercise for women over 40 navigating perimenopause, stress, and body changes.Beth shares her personal journey of discovering Pilates while recovering from cancer treatment. In this repost episode of the Awake & Winning Podcast, Kaylor Betts sits down with Jessica Bennett for a Sovereign Session that connects health, truth, and personal responsibility. Jessica shares how COVID-19 became the "straw that broke the camel's back," pushing her from compliance to questioning the narrative—and how her medical background helped her spot what wasn't adding up. She opens up about healing her Vermont-rooted "farm-to-table" foundations, recovering from Boise-based life stress, and navigating Hashimoto's disease through root-cause strategies, lifestyle shifts, and long-term consistency. The conversation lands on sovereignty: how to reclaim agency over your body, your beliefs, and your income—by building a skills-based online business that creates real impact. Episode Highlights: awakening moment, propaganda vs truth, traditional values, root-cause healing, autoimmune recovery, stress and nervous system, clean living foundations, perimenopause and hormones, women's health education gaps, body fat and brain fog fixes, coaching as sovereignty, pay-to-pay-attention mindset Takeaways: Question narratives without outsourcing your intuition Genetics aren't destiny when environment and habits change Sleep, food, movement, light, and stress are non-negotiables Healing is layered and takes consistency over perfection Women deserve real education on hormones and perimenopause Paying for support increases commitment and follow-through Build sovereignty by turning your skill into a clear solution If this episode lit a fire under you, don't keep it to yourself.
