115: How to Love Yourself as Much as You Love Your Kids | Stacey Ogden

The SuperMum Podcast

Motherhood hit Stacey Ogden like a ton of bricks. Her baby was premature and the first months of her life were spent in hospital. Several years later, the attachment she had with her daughter, who is now 7 years old, was so strong that she completely gave up everything in her life for her. The stark reality dawned on Stacey that she was so consumed by motherhood, that she no longer had a life outside being a mum. She realised that this was no good either for herself, or for her daughter, and something had to be done. Slowly and gradually she clawed back her own identity and started a blog. Through her posts and podcast at Busy Mom Collective, Stacey now helps and supports mums who've experienced similar struggles as hers. Stacey's mission is to help mums realise that making themselves a priority isn't selfish or neglectful. On the contrary. By being a role model for the type of adult you want your kids to be, you're loving them in a better way. Do you really want your kids growing up thinking it's normal to be a frenzied ball of stress that doesn't have a life? In this episode, Stacey encourages you to find out what what lights you up outside of your children. It's all about self-reflection, finding something that excites you and having the discipline to go ahead and make it part of your schedule. You'll learn to find the balance between spending time with your children and finding time for yourself; letting go of control; making yourself a priority without feeling guilty; and changing the way you talk to yourself. Episode Summary With 2018 coming to an end, you've probably heard others talk about planning for the next year but before you start planning, you need to take a look back at this year and really look at the details so that you can look at the big picture! Today, I am walking you through a simple process to look back at your year. Here are four questions to reflect on when you're looking back at your year.  What went well in your business this year? What did you do that was a success? This could be things that were unexpected! One example for me was when I rebranded from Busy Mom Collective to Side Hustle Moms. I pivoted the business in March but I didn't pivot the name to match my new vision of what I had for my company. This was a big win for me! All of a sudden, people for finding the podcast because they knew what the podcast was about. Take a look and really take the time to look back at all of the wins no matter how big or small!  What didn't go so well? Did you run Facebook ads that didn't work out. Did you hire someone that didn't work out? What did you try this year that didn't work the way you thought. We tend to make this list a lot longer but I want you to think honestly and objectively and stay away from making judgments on yourself.  How are my finances? It's time to sit down and look at your books and it can be intimidating but it needs to be done! The reason this is important is because you can really evaluate where your money is going and if it's actually worth it in you current stage of business. Be sure to check out my budget freebie to help you on this task! https://side-hustle-moms.com/budget  Why? You can't just look at what went well, what didn't go well, and where your money is going. You have to ask WHY? Why did that went well and the other didn't? If you are racking in the money, why is that? What is it that you did this year that really brought in money. If you are in the red, why? Could that be because of the start up costs that is associated with a business and next year, those costs won't be there? Why is a very important question in any solid year end review.  "If you're looking at next year without reflecting on this year, you're going to find yourself making the same mistakes." - Stacey Odgen    Links Mentioned:  Raising Your Biz with Dana Malstaff Overwhelmed to Overbooked with Micala Quinn Let’s Connect! 086: [Coaching] How to Generate Leads From Your Podcast with Stacey Ogden

Do you have a podcast - or video series or blog - but aren’t getting leads from it as you had expected? You know your content is good - you’re getting listeners and viewers and readers - but, when it comes to making money as a result of that content, it’s crickets (and an empty inbox). What can you do? This is the question my guest today, Stacey Ogden of Busy Mom Collective, had. In this on-air coaching call, you’ll hear as we dissect what’s going on with her podcast (if you don’t have a podcast, you can apply it to the content you’re creating). We come up with specific strategies she - and you - can use to generate leads, including: what to do on her podcast to talk about what she does what kinds of calls to action to include and how many where to promote her podcast what to do when people sign up for her email list.   One thing Stacey told me is that she doesn’t want her podcast to come off as a sales pitch. And, I totally get it. I did an entire episode on why you shouldn’t sell from the stage - and what to do instead (episode 59). The same premise applies to your podcast and other content. If you need help strategizing your podcast, video series, or messaging in general, you can book a strategy session. Strategy sessions are great for specific questions or challenges you have. We dig deep and you walk away with a concrete action plan, much like you’ll hear here with Stacey.   This episode is the second in a 4-part series related to podcasting. If you host a podcast or have a thought about it, this series will help you get better results. If you don’t have any plans for a podcast, still listen! The strategies we talk about can be applied in other areas too.   About My Guest: Stacey Ogden is the founder and owner of the Busy Mom Collective. Through her podcast of the same name, and working one-on-one with clients, she helps working moms and mompreneurs master their schedules, own their time, and conquer their out of control to-do lists. When I first started this journey, I originally created Busy Mom Collective as a place for self-care and taking time for yourself.
