At the beginning of November, Tatiana traveled to Las Vegas for the World Crypto Convention. There were a lot of interesting blockchain folks to talk to, but Michael Cernovich is a little different. For this segment, Tatiana is joined by Sasha Hodder, blockchain attorney and host of the Hodlcast podcast. Cernovich is a controversial journalist, writer, and filmmaker. Michael has been on the activist scene for years, most recently in support of the 2016 Trump Election and he was instrumental in throwing of the Deploraball in DC. While some may not agree with his politics, most that meet him admit he is a “nice guy.” We certainly found him to be kind and interesting, especially in his efforts to support Lyn Ulbricht by sharing the Change.org petition with his half a million Twitter followers. We were very excited to learn (and get an early preview) of his upcoming film “Hoaxed” that exposes the media industry's propaganda and the history of fake news. https://www.change.org/p/freerosspetition-we-seek-potus-s-clemency-for-ross-ulbricht-serving-double-life-for-a-website-realdonaldtrump-free-ross About the Guests: Mike Cernovich is a journalist, author, and filmmaker. Cernovich has reported everywhere from protests on the streets to the White House. Congressman John Conyers resigned after Cernovich uncovered documents revealing a secret sexual harassment settlement. Cernovich’s latest film, Hoaxed, explores fake news, and will premiere on October 20th in Los Angeles. Zoe Chace has no problem walking up to strangers with headphones on and mike poised. It’s how she captured her duPont-Columbia winning story, “Ep 600 Will I Know Anyone at This Party?” which gives a firsthand account of the immigration push back taking place in America today. Chace is a producer at the radio program and podcast, This American Life. She reveals her tips for getting into the Republican convention without credentials, persuading people to talk when they don’t want to, and managing fears of getting fired. Check out the “Deploraball” episode referenced in this week’s podcast. And see Chace and our other winners accept their batons at the 2018 duPont-Columbia ceremony.
Welcome to weaponized information and the battle for the online narrative. We're joined this week by a panel of experts: Charlie Warzel from BuzzFeed, who reports on disinformation and internet culture, Jeff Giesea, an author on memetic warfare and the organizer of the Deploraball, and Renee DiResta, a leading computational propaganda researcher and Director of Policy at Data for Democracy.
Today on the show we discuss why talking to people when they are near the end of their lives is a very valuable thing to do. Why I approve of things like the Womens March and the Deploraball, why there is a solution in the term "petulant children" for people on both the left and right, plus Funkhouser continues to spread fake news and alternative facts

We discuss all the hot-button issues in this episode. We talk about a rift in the "Alt-Right" movement in the lead-up to this year's "DeploraBall", Sunny Obama (one of the Obamas' dogs) biting a White House guest, and a study showing how people who swear tend to be more honest. It's a good listen, you piece of shit. Sorry. Just being honest. Interstital Music: "Local Saloon" and "Hollywood High" by Silent Partner. Produced by Josh Lopez (@GameRushmore, @PushSlamcasters)
