Stand up comic Zack Lyman sits down with Troy Meiss (Meat Puppets, The Feelies, Guitarist) They talk comedy, writing, touring and how artist live life. Troy is such an interesting guy and I loved hanging out with him. Track him down and find out where he is playing next. The Meat Puppets Meat Puppets started as a punk rock band, but like most of their labelmates on SST Records, they established their own unique style, blending punk with country and psychedelic rock, and featuring Curt's warbling vocals. Meat Puppets later gained significant exposure when the Kirkwood brothers served as guest musicians on Nirvana's MTV Unplugged performance in 1993. The band's 1994 album Too High to Die subsequently became their most successful release. The band broke up twice, in 1996 and 2002, but reunited again in 2006. The Feelies The Feelies had an influence on the development of American indie rock.[4] Their first album, Crazy Rhythms (Stiff Records, 1980) was cited by R.E.M. as a major influence on their sound. The Feelies were influenced by the Velvet Underground and Lou Reed. The Feelies rarely worked with outside producers although Pete Buck (of R.E.M fame) did produce one of their most successful albums. and created shimmering soundscapes with multiple guitar layers and percussion. They frequently played at Maxwell's, a live music venue and bar/restaurant in Hoboken, during the 1980s. About Zack Lyman Zack Lyman has just released his Full Length Album "Sorry I Am Late".
