On today it is one of those shows where you are going to hear a lot of stuff. We have no less than 12 different tales that range from ghost stories, to science fiction, to a memorial tale and even a brand new Johnny Is It True. We will even visit the 1904 olympiad. So sit back, enjoy, because I think you're in for something completely different. Featured Story - The 1904 Olympics Well as you know these past two weeks we have been watching the 2020 Olympics from Japan. Something that I have really been enjoying. America's first Olympics may have been its worst, or at least its most bizarre. Held in 1904 in St. Louis, the games were tied to that year's World's Fair, which celebrated the centennial of the Louisiana Purchase. The Olympics' signal event, the marathon, was conceived to honor the classical heritage of Greece and underscore the connection between the ancient and modern. But from the start, the 1904 marathon was less showstopper than a sideshow, a freakish spectacle that seemed more in keeping with the carnival atmosphere of the fair than the mood of the games. The outcome was so scandalous that the event was nearly abolished for good. On this podcast, we feature that story and you are not going to believe it. Other Stories Include - The Needle Murder, Grand Theft Astro, Why don't people believe, Don't Touch My Batman Bank, My Rose Recorder, The Test Rocket, Johnny Is It True - Facebook Edition, Last Scene Of All, and The Marathon of The 1904 Olympics. He's worked as a dance instructor, a tennis coach, hiked Machu Picchu and arranged for a Harris's Hawk to deliver the ring on his wedding day; from organizing Back Street Boys lip synch contests to opening up London Calling Pasty Company in Springfield, there's not a whole lot of adventures that Neil Gomme hasn't embarked upon. He's got an infectious energy and a zest for life that inspires even the most reserved among us. So it was no surprise that I wanted to grab this man's attention for an hour on his double decker bus to talk about his various adventures that brought him, finally, to the midwest, delivering some damn delicious food. Did you know that ping pong is considered among the fighting sports in the Olympics? Well, you WILL after listening to Neil's take! Enjoy this fun conversation with a genuine renaissance man! And here is his wedding day dance groove!

Who better than 1996 gold medalist Lindsay Davenport to join Ben and Courtney to talk about the Olympics? Well, Lindsay is awesome on anything and everything, but for this Olympics-themed episode as we're on the eve of an Olympic year, Lindsay shares her memories from her various Olympic efforts, her thoughts on how the Olympics have grown in stature within tennis, and the show-and-tell duties that they never tell you about when you're on the podium. Ben and Courtney also discuss various other Olympic issues, including their disruptiveness in the calendar, qualifying rules, and which mixed doubles teams we #RioShip. And again, we thank you for continuing to make our Kickstarter campaign such a success so far! We're already blown away by the totals, but would love to see more of you become backers at any level, no matter how small.
