The second half of the Chris Kluwe interview, where Jonah goes deep into Chris Kluwe's post football life.
Chris Kluwe spoke to me about his career in the NFL and American Ninja Warrior. Chris was essentially fired from the NFL for speaking out about same sex marriage in 2013. He has written two books, plays in a rock band, Tripping Icarus, and has given a Ted Talk. And we barely even touch on that stuff. I hope to have him back on one day, for sure.
Shek and Rank kibitz with Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen about his worthy charity (HomesForWoundedWarriors.com), the 2013 Minnesota Vikings, playing outdoors, and which NFL mascots he could defeat in a fight. The fellas also welcome former Viking/current Raiders punter Chris Kluwe into Studio 66 to talk about his new book, “Beautifully Unique Sparkleponies,” his vocal support of gay rights, his band, road trip songs and kickers being too good. In addition, Around The League scribe Marc Sessler and Handsome Hank stop by for producer Black Tie's latest “Black List,” with topics including this summer's best sports story and Colin Kaepernick wearing a Miami Dolphins cap. Lastly, we end the podcast with a tune from Chris Kluwe's band, Tripping Icarus, titled "Misery."

Gay Rights, Free Speech, Pro Football -- who could ask for anything more? We'll talk to Chris Kluwe, punter for the Minnesota Vikings, who wrote an open letter about these strangely-related subjects, a letter laced with inventive and hilarious profanity. It was published on the Huffington Post and became an internet sensation. Chris, who also dominates online video games and plays bass with the band Tripping Icarus, is not your average NFL player and this is not your average episode. Indeed, some of the language discussed may not be appropriate for younger listeners. But join us anyway. You've heard these words before. Well, most of them.
Vikings punter Chris Kluwe stopped in the dōjō last night; it was the first time we've had an NFL starter "live" for a podcast recording. Kluwe has been outspoken on recent NFL policies and the recent CBA negotiations, and we asked him about that and a few other things. We also spoke with HOUSE OF PUNTE legal analyst Matt DeTura, who discusses the NFL CBA and gives some great-if-a-bit-dated insight into the Roger Clemens mistrial and Casey Anthony verdict. Follow @houseofpunte on Twitter. Episode 84. Recorded 7/20/2011. Runs 64 minutes.
