According to Outsports, back before social media took over in the early 2000s, recruits were described with phrases like “nice V,” “muscular,” and “tight bubble.” In other news, poor Caitlyn Jenner is being sued over her meme coin venture. She's launched a GoFundMe for legal fees — and as of today, it's raised a grand total of $14. Meanwhile, the Trump administration is looking to roll back services on the 988 Lifeline — potentially cutting critical options for Spanish speakers, LGBTQ individuals, and veterans. In response, our friends up north have stepped in: Canada's suicide hotline is now open to Americans, with an option to be routed back to U.S. services if needed. Thank you, Canada. If you're interested in the sort of stories that we tell on this podcast, then you almost certainly already follow Jon Holmes. And if you don't, you need to – as it's no exaggeration to say that he's one of the most influential LGBTQ+ sports journalists working in the world today. From his work with Sky Sports to his current role at Outsports, alongside his work with the Sports Media LGBT+ group, there really is no aspect of LGBTQ+ sporting life in the UK and further afield that Jon hasn't covered. So, it's great to get him on the show to talk about all sorts of things – and especially the work he's been doing as part of Football v Homophobia during February, including today's ‘Wear it Black and Pink' Day to support the campaign. It's no exaggeration to say that Jon is an absolute pioneer who so many of us in the industry look up to, and it's amazing to have him on the podcast with us today. It's Tuesday, August 13th, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus.  (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson U.S. Christian leaders want India designated as dangerous Over 300 Christian leaders from Roman Catholic, Methodist, Presbyterian, Pentecostal, Anglican, and Lutheran churches have submitted a letter to U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, calling on the US to designate India as a Country of Particular Concern in regards to religious liberties. The letter notes that persecution against Christians in India is now 4.7 times worse than it was in 2010 when Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi came into power. International Christian Concern places India as the third worst persecutor of Christians in the world today. Earlier this year, the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom issued a statement criticizing the Biden administration for refusing to include India and Nigeria on the list of Countries of Particular Concern. India's government is headed by a nationalist Hindu party.  And Nigeria's government is headed by a president of Islamic persuasion. As of 2022, the Biden administration has appointed a Muslim, Rashad Hussain, as the United States Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom. Kamala Harris most liberal Democratic presidential candidate Our worldview analysis of the Democrat candidates for the U.S. presidency found Kamala Harris as the most leftist candidate ever to run for the top office as far back as the early 1980s. For example, 52% of the Democrat senators were rated more liberal than Joe Biden in the 2008 legislative session, according to Gov Track.US.  In addition, 17% of the Democrat senators were rated more liberal than Barack Obama in the same legislative season. Regarding Al Gore, 43% of the Democrat senators were rated more liberal than him in the 1990s. Gore was the Democrat candidate who faced off with George W. Bush in the 2000 elections. In 2020, GovTrack marked only 6% of the Democrat Senators as more liberal than Kamala Harris. And, in 2019, GovTrack ranked Kamala Harris as the “most liberal compared to all senators.” Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are radically pro-abortion Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America issed a memorandum warning of Kamala Harris and Tim Walz's “fanatical” commitment to killing children in the womb. Both candidates fought for policies that would allow babies to suffer and die if they were born alive in an attempted abortion. Both candidates also opposed all legislation that prohibited the coercion of women into abortions. And both have enthusiastically supported increased government funding for abortion. Proverbs 31:8 instructs those in power to: “Open your mouth for the speechless. In the cause of all who are appointed to die, open your mouth, judge righteously.” Top 10 most crime-ridden cities Crime dominates in at least 10 cities in America. Newsweek puts the highest robbery rates in the country in these 10 cities — Baltimore, Minneapolis, Chicago, Washington, D.C., San Francisco, St. Louis, Philadelphia, Seattle, Denver, and Little Rock, Arkansas — all of them blue cities. Man pretending to be a woman sues Liberty University A man pretending to be a woman is suing Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia for what he calls “Unlawful termination” on the basis of his so-called “gender identity.” Jonathan Zinski is seeking $300,000 and a reinstatement to his position on the IT help desk at the Christian college. Liberty University's Doctrinal Statement holds that denial of birth sex by self-identification with a different gender is a sinful act prohibited by God. 191 Olympians embrace homosexual sin (Audio of Olympic theme song) The Olympics have turned homosexual, with 191 athletes claiming to have embraced the sinful lifestyle. That's up from only five in the year 2000.   And, according to Outsports, one third of President Joe Biden's delegation to the Closing Ceremony identified with a sexually perverted lifestyle. China tied with the U.S. for the most gold medals won at the Summer Olympics this year.  That's the second time China has taken first place in history.  The first time was in 2008. China has largest economy Based on Gross National Income by Purchasing Power Parity, China is now the largest economy in the world at $35 trillion. The United States is second at $29 trillion. And India has displaced Japan for third place at $15 trillion. Greece's wildfire In God's providence, Greece is experiencing the worst wildfire of the year, now approaching Athens and surrounding towns. The mayor of the ancient city of Marathon, Stergios Tsirkas, told CBS News, “Our whole town is engulfed in flames.” Half of the nation is under what they call “red alert” - at high risk of fires. Gold hit record high In economic news, gold posted another record high on Monday at $2,470/ounce. Meanwhile, Bitcoin is down 18% from its March high. And the Nasdaq is still 10% down from its July 9th peak. Elon Musk interviewed Trump last night The richest man in the worldinterviewed Donald Trump on his social media platform X Monday night. Elon Musk has endorsed Trump for president in the 2024 race. Trump is back on Twitter, a social media outlet with 126 million active users in the United States, compared to Facebook's 222 million. The valor of Euplius And finally, yesterday was a notable anniversary.  On August 12th in the year A.D. 304, Euplius of Catania, a Christian deacon from Sicily, was martyred under the Diocletian Persecution. His crime? He was in possession of the Scriptures. He unashamedly, loudly, and repeatedly declared himself to be a Christian, a follower of Jesus Christ, before he was tortured and beheaded for his faith. Let us stand for Jesus today. In 2 Timothy 2:12, the Apostle Paul wrote, “For if we died with Him, we shall also live with Him. If we endure, we shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Tuesday, August 13th, in the year of our Lord 2024.  Subscribe by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com. It's fair to say that Kirk Walker has a life that has been shaped by softball, over and over again. The current head-coach at UCLA, Walker spent nearly two decades at Oregon State before returning to the place where he had previously been on the coaching staff between 1984-94. Kirk has more titles and accolades than you can shake a stick at – with multiple NCAA Championships, over a dozen appearances in the Women's College World Series, Coach of the Year awards, stints serving on the coaching team for Team USA through the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens… the list goes on and on. Yet Kirk's significance is also related to what he's done as an advocate – including in 2007, when he shared his story with Outsports and became the first out gay male Division 1 coach. Nowadays, it's also related to his work with the Sports Equality Foundation, which promotes visibility, linking, opportunity and education for LGBTQ+ athletes – so it's only natural for us to get him on the podcast. This chat is a cracker for anyone who wants to find out more about what it takes to coach at the very top level, and how authenticity is such a crucial part of that – and we're delighted that Kirk made the time to join us for it. Now, eight years sober and a proud member of the LGBTQ community, Tim has been named one of Outsports' Power 100 Most Influential LGBTQ People in Sports and is an active member of the Recovery Community. An NFL Executive, he continues to openly share about his sobriety and sexuality, providing a unique, inspiring and barrier-breaking perspective.  Brave and vulnerable, this conversation is about the journey of self-realization, the painful depths of self-denial, the freedom found in self-acceptance, and the healing power of sharing your story.  Connect with Zac https://www.instagram.com/zwclark/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/zac-c-746b96254/ https://www.tiktok.com/@zacwclark https://www.strava.com/athletes/55697553 https://twitter.com/zacwclark If you or anyone you know is struggling, please do not hesitate to contact Release: (914) 588-6564 releaserecovery.com @releaserecovery

Cyd Zeigler started OutSports in 1999, gradually shifting focus from “pro sports from a gay men's fandom angle” to all things LGBTQ++, including trans athletes. He joins the Dorx to argue for inclusion of male trans athletes in female categories. From chess to football, Zeigler believes every sport can and should be treated differently; that sex categories open up opportunities; and that both sides point to Title IX as the reason they're right. Nina pushes back on safety; Corinna introduces the idea of locus of control; and everyone agrees more data is needed. Despite an unfortunate technical error that ends the game early (that's what happens when your tech support is an alpaca), Zeigler remains sportsmanlike throughout. “Stealing Nikki” (November 26, 2000) Go figure: It's our longest episode yet, and it's about a show you might not even remember. We were fortunate enough to get Talking Simpsons co-host Henry Gilbert back for a second go-around, and we decided to make use of his encyclopedic knowledge of professional wrestling. Lucky for us, there is in fact a sitcom that discusses pro wrestling and queerness in the same context, and it's Nikki Cox two-season comedy series, which could not be more early 2000s. Even better? It aired on The WB, which allows us to discuss that netlet's role in TV history. Listen to Talking Simpsons, because we ripped it off in making this show. If you haven't yet, treat yourself to GLOW: not the Netflix version (which is also good!) but the original syndicated 80s Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling show. Brock joins the What Connects Us Podcast to share how he worked up the courage to come out to his team after he could no longer take the homophobic slurs and rumours of his sexuality. He chats about his journey to self-acceptance, the surprising reaction his team had to his news, the power of representation, and how damaging non-inclusive language can be. Brock also describes the rollercoaster of what it was like to have something he kept secret for so long broadcast internationally when a piece he wrote for OutSports went viral at the beginning of 2020. It's a revealing and vulnerable story of self-discovery and one that kept Brock asking himself "Will hockey keep me?"

Three days after that she saw CeCé Telfer make NCAA history and a few weeks later she was writing for Outsports. Around that same time, a freshman softball pitcher at the University of Scranton was battling on the field, while continuing wrestling who they were as a person. In that same moment, a young woman who had ambitions with pro golf was navigating a year in Law School. In this last year, these three lives have intertwined. The pitcher, now Scranton senior E Kerr, left the game because identity meant more. and explained why on the Trans Sporter Room in October. In January, with the intense scrutiny surrounding Lia Thomas, the tour hopeful-turned-law student, Maya Reddy organized a mass response of support for the senior student-athlete who was seeking to make the history Telfer did.
