Ever notice when you hear someone talking on the phone nearby it's hard not to listen? You are only hearing one-side of the conversation and that can drive your brain crazy. It's not just annoying and distracting it can actually be dangerous. https://now.uiowa.edu/news/2017/06/ui-study-explores-why-cell-phone-use-leads-distracted-driving It's hard to imagine life without GPS. But now it has become so woven into daily life that most of us never think about it. We use it to navigate, order food, track packages, find rides, locate our phones and even synchronize financial transactions. Yet GPS wasn't created for that. It began as a military technology and evolved into one of the most important—and expensive—infrastructure systems ever built. How does GPS actually know where you are? Why is it free to use? Who pays for it? Is it spying on you? Here to explain is Katherine Dunn, business reporter, editor and author of the book Little Blue Dot: How GPS Shaped the Modern World (https://amzn.to/4uvtk2M). Why is it that millions of people experience chronic pain, fatigue, digestive problems and other ailments that doctors and medical tests often fail to explain? Too often they're told "it's all in your head." But according to psychiatrist Susan Trachman, that phrase badly misunderstands what's happening. The connection between the brain and body is far more powerful than most people realize. Thoughts, emotions and stress can trigger genuine physical symptoms—and understanding how can be the key to finding relief. Susan has spent more than 30 years treating medically unexplained illnesses. She is author of the popular Psychology Today blog and the book It's Not Just in Your Head. (https://amzn.to/4oqvjDP) Listen to a tennis match or walk through a gym and you'll hear it everywhere: grunting. Sometimes really loud grunting. It seems odd. Maybe even unnecessary. So why do athletes do it? Is it habit? Showmanship? Or is there something else going on? https://www.womenshealthmag.com/fitness/a64691561/grunting-power-output-study/ PLEASE SUPPORT OUR SPONSORS AIR DOCTOR: Head to https://AirDoctorPro.com and use promo code SYSK to get $250 off select AirDoctor air purifiers, including the 3500, 4000, and 5500 models. Silicon Bites Ep358 | 2026-06-24 | They stole it. They sunbathed on it. They shipped their children to it. Now the petrol's gone — and that, finally, is the thing that is forcing Russians to flee Crimea. Today: ISLAND CRIMEA. Sunday morning, the twenty-first of June. Nine o'clock local time. And across the entire occupied Crimean Peninsula, the petrol pumps stop. Not rationed. Not coupon-only. Stopped. Sergey Aksyonov, the Kremlin's man in Simferopol, posts the order to Telegram: from this hour, fuel goes only to the state. Petrol will be sold solely to the government agencies that keep the peninsula running and secure — and to nobody else. Not to you. Not to your car. Not to the tourist stranded sixty kilometres from a working tank. This is the prize Vladimir Putin seized in 2014 and called forever Russian. The sunlit trophy. The symbol of resurgent empire. And on a summer Sunday it cannot fill a single civilian fuel tank. Tonight: how Ukraine turned a trophy into an island, an asset into a liability — and why people who holidayed on stolen land will be stopped not by conscience, but by queue.----------ACTIVE CAMPAIGN:We are raising funds for 5 of 15 Vampire DronesSilicon Curtain for Kupiansk Vampires. Between players jumping contracts and entangling themselves in gambling scandals; the lack of a clear, consistent enforcement authority and conference (league) realignments, one could easily confuse current state of the NCAA with the chaotic state of 19th Century baseball. This week, John T. Fortunato joins us to make sense of college sports today. Fortunato is a professor of communications and media management at Fordham University's Gabelli School of Business. His research interests include sports, broadcasting & communication and public relations. He comments on a wide range of topics, including name, image & likeness; the Brendan Sorsby and Darian Mensah controversies, the increasingly toothless NCAA enforcement arm, and whether or not Congress has the power to bring order to the anarchy. Professor Fortunato at FordhamJohn Fortunato, An Ethical Application to Student-Athlete Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL), Journal of Intercollegiate Sport.Errata: The University of Houston played Idaho, not an Ivy League school, in March Madness's first round in 2026 - you'd think a "basketball junkie" would remember that. Kyler explains how it gets installed on every company machine, why he treats each new agent session like onboarding an employee, and how a self-improving loop of skills and automated reviews keeps it getting better. They explore his day-to-day setup for running many agents at once, why worktrees and Claude Code hooks exist to make failure nearly impossible, a one-on-one prep skill that pulls context from every corner of the company, and the layered guardrails, including a nightly “librarian” agent, that keep confidential information from leaking. If you're a product or engineering leader trying to make your team more AI-native, someone wiring agents into real workflows, or anyone wrestling with how to run agents safely at scale, this episode is for you.All episodes of the podcast are also available on Spotify, Apple and YouTube.New to the pod? Disney vacation planning feels like art until you realize it's closer to operations research. We sit down with Len Testa, president of Touring Plans, co-author of The Unofficial Guide series, and a familiar voice from the Disney Dish podcast, to unpack how crowd calendars and wait time predictions actually get made and why they work as often as they do.We talk about the moment Len fell in love with Walt Disney World as a kid, then follow the thread into computer science, scheduling problems, and the surprising amount of data required to forecast a day in the parks. Len breaks down what a touring plan really is: a step-by-step itinerary designed to minimize time in line, powered by historical wait times and updated with real-time conditions. He also shares where the data comes from, how it gets checked against reality, and what it means to be a responsible consumer of Disney and Universal app data. From there, we zoom out to Disney's bigger tech and analytics story. Len explains why Disney's analytics capabilities outpace the rest of the theme park industry, how guest surveys and promotion testing reveal internal decision-making, and why legacy systems and user experience friction still show up in My Disney Experience. We also get into what can force models to change overnight, including pandemic-era anomalies and major operational shifts like DAS eligibility changes. We wrap with a fun rapid-fire favorites round and a peek at what Len hopes Disney reveals at D23, from villains land details to timelines and phase-one expansion progress. The story of the prodigal son is not ultimately about two sons. It is about a Father whose love refuses to quit. While the younger son wandered into reckless living and the older son remained trapped in self-righteous striving, both were separated from the Father's heart in different ways. One believed he had gone too far to be welcomed home. The other believed he could earn what could only be received by grace. Yet when the younger son finally came to his senses and returned, the father saw him from a long way off, ran to him, embraced him, and restored him before a single apology was finished. This message reminds us that our greatest problem is not merely bad behavior but separation from God, and our greatest hope is the relentless mercy of a Father who pursues His children. Whether we identify more with the rebel or the rule keeper, the invitation is the same: come home. God's steadfast love never ceases, His mercies are new every morning, and His heart has always been for restoration, not rejection.

David Jenyns had 15 people on his team when he realized his business still couldn't function without him. Every client wanted him personally. Every escalation came back to him. He was working long hours and couldn't switch off. When he thought about taking time off to be present for the birth of his first child, it filled him with anxiety rather than excitement. "It was a little bit scary when I realized, hey, if I'm not working, the business isn't working." David is the founder of SYSTEMology, a three-times bestselling author of Authority Content, SYSTEMology, and Systems Champion, and a TEDx speaker. He has since personally coached 223 businesses across 48 industries and 27 countries. In this conversation, David and Mark explore why founder dependency is so common in recruitment businesses, why it often gets rewarded in the early stages, and how agency owners can break the cycle. Melissa Rausch of Simi Valley, California, was diagnosed in 2019 with triple-positive breast cancer, one of the more aggressive types, and did everything her doctors told her to do. She endured 16 weeks of hard chemo, hospitalizations, a lumpectomy with unclear margins, and radiation with severe side effects. Then in November 2020, the cancer spread to her bones and her oncologist said the word she wasn't ready to accept: terminal. Instead of giving up, Melissa said "with all due respect" and started knocking on other doors. She dove into books, found holistic practitioners, overhauled her diet overnight, and eventually connected with Chris Wark's Square One program and the Healing Strong community. Through a dual path of faith, integrative care, and persistent self-advocacy, including fighting her own oncologist to return to a treatment that had actually worked. Melissa is now in complete remission. She co-founded and now leads the HealingStrong group in Simi Valley, praying for each member by name daily.HealingStrong's mission is to educate, equip and empower our group leaders and group participants through their journey with cancer or other chronic illnesses, and know there is HOPE. Joshua Pantony spent years being told there would never be a viable AI company in his lifetime. He sold his first AI company to Microsoft anyway — work that quietly became part of what is now Microsoft Copilot. Today he runs Boosted AI, an agentic platform serving more than 400 institutional investors who collectively manage around five trillion dollars in assets. He is one of the most credible voices in applied AI finance, and his read on where the industry is heading cuts through a lot of noise. The conversation covers what it actually means to deploy AI in professional investing — not the demo version, but the one that has to earn trust from portfolio managers who have built careers on discretion and judgment. The platform learns each investor's individual style and then acts like a highly motivated junior analyst who never sleeps: constantly surfacing ideas, flagging risks, and improving the workflow without ever taking over the decision. Josh also unpacks why the Bloomberg terminal is facing its BlackBerry moment, why the technology moat is effectively dead, and why the next durable advantage in finance will come from human trust networks that no model can replicate. AI XR News You Should Know: The episode opens with two news segments covering AWE 2026 and the Snap Spectacles keynote with Evan Spiegel, the Samsung Galaxy Glasses debut, Gemini rolling out as Android's native agentic AI, the Cerebras sixty-billion-dollar IPO, and what an AI filmmaking company launched by the creators of Instagram Stories tells us about the future of short-form content. The conversation about micro-dramas, why Quibi failed, and what sixty percent of social media users now say about their own feeds leads directly into the trust themes that run through the entire episode.Key Moments:[00:00] – Cold open and welcome. Charlie frames the sixth anniversary of the show.[02:30] – AWE 2026 recap. Snap Spectacles keynote, Evan Spiegel on stage, Samsung Galaxy Glasses previewed.[06:00] – Gemini as Android's native agentic layer. What it means that AI is now replacing the OS interface.[09:15] – Cerebras sixty-billion-dollar IPO. Joshua Pantony on being told AI would never be a viable business, and the algorithm he wrote at twenty that saved a million dollars.[24:00] – How Boosted AI works. The digital twin model, the agentic workflow, and why it is not a portfolio manager.[33:00] – The Bloomberg terminal's BlackBerry moment. Thirty thousand dollars a year for what AI will deliver for a fraction.[42:00] – The moat is dead. Why user context — not the technology — is the durable advantage.[51:00] – The innovator's dilemma at high frequency. Rony on why a day in AI is like a decade, and what that means for incumbents.[58:00] – Trust networks as the last edge. The analog handshake as the most valuable currency in a world of synthetic information. This conversation is a clear-eyed look at what it takes to build AI that professionals actually adopt — not a pitch, not a thought experiment. Josh's framing of Wall Street as the greatest collective intelligence humanity has built, and his argument that AI can finally make capital allocation genuinely more efficient, gives the episode an ambition that goes well beyond fintech. The question of what survives automation — and what only humans can do — runs underneath every answer. This episode is sponsored by Zappar and Mattercraft. John Goglia and Todd Curtis examine an all-too-common aviation incident: fuel exhaustion.  Two pilots recently took off on a training flight that would start after midnight and end before dawn. They planned 10 takeoffs and landings at a towered airport, a 100-nautical-mile cross-country flight, refueling, and waiting until sunrise to practice additional maneuvers.  Unfortunately, they ran out of fuel short of the refueling stop and had to dodge wind turbines and power lines to safely land on a road. Because there were no damage or injuries, no report was published by the FAA or NTSB.  However, the incident was reported to the NASA Aviation Safety Reporting System (ASRS). John and Todd use that information to examine what happened and point out that they may have created avoidable dangers by planning to perform a challenging set of tasks for a single flight.  This episode also demonstrates how to use the ASRS to learn from those who submit reports, including events that could have ended in disaster. This episode could help you avoid this and other common aviation safety issues.
