Since taking up the role of a gay character on the new drama series Vula Vala, budding actor, Zola Msizi has spoken out on how homophobic South Africans are. Zola plays the role of Lefa Kwena who lives in the shadows of his father’s greatness while trying to hide his sexuality. In a podcast interview with the TshisaPOD, Zola shared how it was natural for him to take up the role of a gay man all thanks to his gay friends who taught him a great deal about people in the LGBTQ+ community.
