A local campaigner who secured an apology from University Hospital Limerick over his late father's care has been writing about his experience.Mike Daly in Limerick City made history by successfully securing a second inquest into the passing of his father, Mike Daly Snr. The initial 2012 inquest ruled the death as natural causes due to cardiac failure, but a groundbreaking fresh inquiry was ordered and heard in 2023, and a verdict of medical misadventure was recorded. Alex Murdaugh's lawyers want a signature from the prosecution, and the reason sits in a case most people have never heard of. Tony Brueski takes the listener mail with retired FBI Special Agent Robin Dreeke.The defense filed a supplemental motion under Brady and Giglio. It asks the court to order prosecutors to search again for favorable and impeachment material generated since the 2023 trial, then certify in writing that the search was diligent and current. Thirty days.Now the case that gets a fraction of the coverage. Last spring a circuit court judge quashed the murder indictment in the Michael Colucci prosecution after concluding potentially exculpatory evidence had not been properly disclosed. Former SLED special agent David Owen, the lead investigator in the Moselle murders, faced renewed credibility scrutiny in connection with that matter. Owen retired in June 2024 after twenty-eight years of service.At Murdaugh's first trial, Owen acknowledged under cross-examination that SLED waited roughly three months to search the family's Almeda property, even though investigators later theorized Murdaugh may have taken weapons or evidence there. Asked whether that was an opportunity missed, he answered that it probably was.The current motion names neither Owen nor anyone else. It asks the state to repeat the entire discovery process against everything that has happened since.Prosecutors have not yet filed a response. Judge Debra McCaslin has tentatively set the retrial for April 5, 2027, with pretrial proceedings in Lexington County.Maggie Murdaugh and Paul Murdaugh were killed at the family's Colleton County hunting property on June 7, 2021.Murdaugh's convictions were overturned by the South Carolina Supreme Court, he awaits retrial, and he is presumed innocent. After Anna Kepner died on a Carnival cruise ship, her stepmother made a decision that says everything. She sent her son, Timothy Hudson, to live with a relative, and per People magazine's reporting, the stated purpose was removing any risk of danger to the other children in the home. The office running the Nancy Guthrie investigation handed the public its biggest piece of evidence by accident. The Pima County Sheriff's Office sent out a media release with the alleged kidnapper's Bitcoin wallet address printed at the bottom. They clawed it back, but only after it was screenshotted across the internet. Retired FBI Special Agent Jennifer Coffindaffer took that address and traced every transaction on it, and this episode of Hidden Killers walks through what she found.Start with the number. The alleged demand was four million dollars. Coffindaffer's trace shows the only money that ever entered the wallet was 0.0022 Bitcoin — about three hundred dollars — deposited by the FBI on February 10. It sits there untouched. No ransom was ever paid, which lands hard against the family's public statement that they did their part.Then the silence. The blockchain shows messages written straight to the wallet, including the exact words Savannah Guthrie spoke on camera about being willing to pay. Whoever sent those notes had a direct, open channel to the family the entire time and never used it. Coffindaffer tells Tony Brueski what that pattern looks like from the inside of a federal kidnapping case. None of the explanations are comfortable.She also separates the two ransom notes into what she believes are two different hands: an organized author writing threats on a schedule, and a second voice claiming they never intended to hurt her. If she's right, the apology note reads like insurance in a death penalty state.And through all of it, Sheriff Nanos sits for his six-month message, calls the FBI partnership great, and concedes thousands of hours of video haven't been reviewed. Six months. Nancy Guthrie's family is still waiting. This sermon explores Acts 13:44-52 to demonstrate that human rejection never frustrates God's sovereign purpose. The preacher highlights how Jewish leaders rejected the gospel out of jealousy, yet Paul and Barnabas responded with boldness by turning to the Gentiles. This shift reveals that God's saving grace is limitless and not confined by human opposition or prejudice. The passage assures believers that their responsibility is to proclaim the message faithfully, while salvation remains entirely dependent on God's appointment. Ultimately, those who trust in Christ possess a joy and endurance rooted in the Holy Spirit, unaffected by external persecution.

Read OnlineThe Gift of Counsel, Given and ReceivedAt that time Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon. And behold, a Canaanite woman of that district came and called out, “Have pity on me, Lord, Son of David! My daughter is tormented by a demon.” But he did not say a word in answer to her. His disciples came and asked him, “Send her away, for she keeps calling out after us.” Matthew 15:21–23At first glance, this interaction is surprising. Yet Jesus is performing an act of love toward the Canaanite woman, while at the same time offering an important lesson to His disciples. This act of love and instruction is conveyed through the divine pedagogy—the way God, as a wise and loving Teacher, draws out deeper truths through patient instruction and testing. Jesus leads the woman through a threefold test, each one revealing the increasing depth of her faith.First Test: The first test comes through Jesus' silence. The woman cries out from the depths of her heart, “Have pity on me, Lord, Son of David! My daughter is tormented by a demon.” The disciples likely watched closely to see how Jesus would respond. When He did not answer, they misinterpreted His silence as indifference or irritation, saying, “Send her away, for she keeps calling out after us.” Yet the woman does not turn away. She endures His silence, waiting patiently for Him to respond. This shows the first fruit of her faith—perseverance in the face of apparent rejection.Second Test: Jesus' next words seem to be a limitation of His mission: “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” As a Canaanite from Tyre and Sidon, the woman is, by all appearances, outside the covenant people of Israel. Yet she does not let this discourage her. Instead, she draws even nearer, does Him homage, and pleads all the more: “Lord, help me.” Her faith perseveres, deepening with greater humility and trust.Third Test: Finally, Jesus presents the most difficult challenge: “It is not right to take the food of the children and throw it to the dogs.” His harsh words are a further invitation to the woman to reveal her heart. Instead of taking offense or walking away, she accepts the image and turns it into a profession of faith and humility: “Please, Lord, for even the dogs eat the scraps that fall from the table of their masters.” With this, she reveals a beautiful trust in God's mercy, recognizing that even the smallest grace from Him is enough. This is precisely what Jesus was drawing out of her—a faith that is humble, bold, persistent, and filled with trust. At that moment, Jesus honors the depth of her faith and boldly proclaims it for the disciples to hear: “O woman, great is your faith! Let it be done for you as you wish.” And her daughter was healed instantly.In this sacred encounter, Jesus reveals the Gift of Counsel in action. This divine gift of the Holy Spirit, perfectly possessed and manifested by Jesus, enables the woman to respond wisely to the mysterious ways of God, especially when those ways are hidden or difficult to understand. The Canaanite woman, moved by divine grace and guided by the wise and loving pedagogy of Jesus, navigates the trials He presents with perseverance, humility, and unwavering trust, ultimately receiving the fullness of God's mercy. Jesus knew exactly what He was doing. He saw the depth of her heart and, through this gift, skillfully drew that faith to the surface for her own good, for her daughter's healing, and for the instruction of His disciples. We, too, are called to follow His example, allowing the Holy Spirit to guide us and others through the trials of life with patient and discerning love. Reflect today on this sacred interaction and ask the Holy Spirit to deepen the Gift of Counsel within you, so that you may always recognize God's hand at work in moments of silence, testing, or delay, and respond with faith, humility, and perseverance. Seek this gift not only for yourself, but also so that God may use you as an instrument of His loving guidance, leading others closer to Him in ways that only He, in His divine wisdom, can orchestrate.Lord of Perfect Counsel, You teach us in many ways, always guiding us closer to Yourself. Open my heart to Your divine pedagogy, and teach me to persevere through every trial You permit, so that my faith and trust in You may grow ever deeper. Bestow upon me the Gift of Counsel, so that I may respond wisely to Your promptings and help lead others to Your loving Heart. Use me as Your instrument to draw souls to the truth, in ways that only You can design.
