CI4L SHOW - Hailey, Idaho - LOCKDOWN Averted

Play Episode Listen Later Nov 24, 2020 17:23

We the People added another win under our belt today! The City of Hailey met on November 23rd to vote on additional restrictions and/or lockdowns. After the Mayor and City Council heard from the People, they actually backed down of all of their proposals! The order they adopted in fact got rid of the 64 sq. ft. requirement for gatherings. The gathering size was essentially voted to be in compliance with the State of Idaho “rebound” orders. We will see how that is phrased exactly in the final order later on Tuesday (hopefully). We the People showed up big for this meeting and made a huge difference. There were over 200 people participating online and over 50 people participating at the off-site public comment location at Freedom Bible Church (who so graciously permitted us to use their space). You can watch my analysis of the meeting here: https://youtu.be/QQfHI2Hv2z4You can also watch the livestream of the meeting from the off-site location here: https://www.facebook.com/shanetalkspolitics/videos/1067516153701679THE GOOD. The Mayor Martha Burke and council people, Kaz Thea, Juan Martinez, and Heidi Husbands heard the people and voted for the less restrictive order. THE BAD. Councilman Sam Linnet voted against the less restrictive order and pushed for the most draconian measures/lockdowns/shutdowns. THE UGLY. The draconian measures were not lifted completely. The People fought tooth and nail to get at least some roll-back. The fight is just starting, and we need to stay engaged. Please share this email with your family, friends, and neighbors so we ALL can continue to be informed. Please email Hailey mayor and city council to express your thoughts. Please thank the mayor and three council members (Ms. Thea, Ms. Husbands, and Mr. Martizez) for their vote. BUT also tell them to roll back the rest of the mandates. Don’t forget to let councilman Sam Linnet know how disappointed you are in his vote and his comments favoring the most draconian measures. I also want to thank two other groups that joined in this important meeting. Health Freedom Blaine County led by Leslie Manookian, and Wood River Business Alliance led by Oliver Whitcomb.
