Today we're going to start with our usual financial fare, but then branch out into other important topics impacting society today, like the state of free speech, media bais and the role of government.I'm taking the license to do so because of our good fortune to be joined today by Matt Taibbi, one of the few remaining truly great independent journalists -- a rare breed these days. Many of you know Matt from his work at Rolling Stone where, among other great scoops, he chronicled the unfolding of the Great Financial Crisis, as well as the abuses that caused it, in a plain-language manner that the general public could finally understand.Or you may know him from his pioneering work on the Twitter Files, exposing the government-driven censorshop and narrative planting that had metastasized across the social media ecoystem during the COVID era.Or you may know him from his ongoing work on Substack at his Racket News channel, or from the many books he has authored. We are very lucky to have him join us today. #freespeech #socialism #westerncivilization _____________________________________________ Thoughtful Money LLC is a Registered Investment Advisor Promoter. We produce educational content geared for the individual investor. Love to hear from you; “Send us a Text Message”In this conversation, Jack and Tom Hampson discuss the paradox of food insecurity in America, despite its wealth. They explore the evolution of food banks into a multi-billion dollar industry that manages poverty rather than alleviating it. The discussion highlights the bureaucratic inefficiencies, the role of corporate donations, and the need for local, community-based solutions to effectively address hunger. They argue that the current system is failing the very people it aims to help and call for a reevaluation of how food assistance is structured and delivered.Read Toms Investigation Summary Here! If you care about hunger relief, public accountability, and the dignity of real help, this conversation will challenge your assumptions and offer concrete next steps. Listen, then share it with someone who thinks “more meals served” is the only metric. Episode 368 of RevolutionZ has as its guest Bhaskar Sunkara of Jacobin and more recently The Nation and author of The Socialist Manifesto. Our topic isn't a kinder capitalism; it's a post capitalist vision and practice where private ownership is overcome and control of production resides with the people who do the work.Together we discuss seeking a higher minimum wages and seeking higher wages more generally, full employment, greater workers say in the workplace and community, municipal support for co-ops and more. We urge that what we seek, how we seek it, and even what issues we raise while engaged in the pursuits, should deliver concrete gains in the present and also rewire expectations about who should decide and who should benefit in the future.Sunkara discusses electoral campaigns and candidates, but more so the system in which elections occur. He challenges the limits of welfarism and highlights the power question: who owns, who governs, who invests. Together we also broach the hard problem of the division of labor and derivative class divisions. Sunkara says that specialization won't disappear. We can't and won't all do everything. But what we do and how we do it must be democratized so that expertise serves everyone instead of hardening into a class that serves mainly itself over workers. We also explore differences and agreements about when to challenge what issues and about what structures are needed to attain our goals versus what structures will continually obstruct our goals. How can and should the choices of a socialist in a workplace or on a campus, for example, and really anywhere, differ from the choices of a progressive working in the same settings? Issues. Demands. Formulations.Regarding the electoral arena we consider why some workers back Trump and why even center-left parties feel distant. We agree the answer isn't to scold; it's to organize. It is to show up where people live, to honor local experiences and concerns, and to build organizations that feel like home not like elite seminars. Sunkara explores how an independent profile—more Sanders than party brand—and now more Mamdani than party brand—can help rebuild trust and make clear class politics evident again. Are we ready to move beyond slogans and toward a post-capitalism that's practical, democratic, and winnable? Are we ready to further define our vision's features to the extent we now can, and to refine and improve them as we proceed? Sunkara proposes a path forward to consider. Support the show

Zohran Mamdani's Oval Office lovefest with Donald Trump was a dangerous legitimization of fascism, and has won New York no respite—as the city was targeted for ICE raids mere days later. These were happily met with a strong street response by progressive New Yorkers, and Zohran has reiterated his stance of non-cooperation with the federal police state. Meanwhile, the massacre of Jews one week ago in Sydney increases the pressure on Mamdani to walk the fine line between remaining true to his anti-Zionist principles on one hand, and acquiescing in anti-Semitism on the other. And his support for bulldozing the Elizabeth Street Garden (even after a deal to save it has been accepted by the incumbent administration), while failing to protest displacement of tenants from public housing projects slated for privatization, points to an accommodation with the pro-"development" consensus of the city's permanent government. On the final countdown to Mamdani's inauguration, the contradictions he faces are sharpening. In Episode 309 of the CounterVortex podcast, Bill Weinberg breaks it down. X: @JCats2013 @ileaderssummit @americasrt1776 @NatashaSrdoc @JoelAnandUSA @supertalk @JTitMVirginia Join America's Roundtable (https://americasrt.com/) radio co-hosts Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy with John Catsimatidis, a leading national business figure and senior lay leader in the Greek Orthodox Church community. John Catsimatidis is the Chairman and CEO, The Red Apple Group and Owner of the Iconic 77 WABC Radio in New York City. The Red Apple Group is a conglomerate that owns and operates assets in the energy, real estate, finance, insurance, and supermarket industries. 77 WABC Radio is heard in 50 states and 173 countries. John is the author of Wall Street Journal Bestseller and Publishers Weekly Bestseller — “How Far Do You Want to Go: Lessons from a Common-Sense Billionaire.” As a leading American entrepreneur, John Catsimatidis will provide insights into the state of the US economy as inflation drops, nationwide gas prices fall under $2.80 per gallon and rent prices coming down. John will explain how free market principles applied by House Republicans in Congress with President Trump's "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill" will cut taxes for Americans earning under $50,000 by 14.9%. John will also highlight the benefits for 4 million tipped workers like waitresses, barbers, hairstylists, and taxi drivers who will not pay taxes on tips. For those working overtime - once again, this group of hard-working Americans will not be taxed on overtime. A major savings and great benefit for senior citizens who will not have to pay taxes on social security. Natasha Srdoc and John Catsimatidis discuss key economic data of economic growth rates and how changes at the Federal Reserve Bank may usher in an era of lower interest rates that will further help working families. Joel Anand and John Catsimatidis discuss the major fraud and money laundering unveiled in Minnesota with federal taxpayer funds abused. According to published reports: "A Minnesota safety net program was so easy to scam, it attracted tourists, Assistant U.S. Attorney Joe Thompson said Thursday. The extent of fraud in Minnesota human services programs — which has become infamous across the country — is even higher than the public knew. Providers in 14 “high-risk,” state-run Medicaid programs being audited by the state have billed $18 billion since 2018, and “half or more” is possibly fraudulent, Thompson said." The conversation on America's Roundtable will also focus on the horrific terrorist attack in Sydney, Australia, with 15 innocent civilians murdered and over 40 injured as the Jewish community gathered for the first day of Hanukkah. The brazen manifestation of anti-Semitism in the West, including America is brought to the forefront. The concerns of the waves of socialism battering America will be highlighted as the Democratic Party becomes more influenced by the Democratic Socialist Party's agenda which pushes communism and socialism, dangerous ideologies that have failed and left billions of people around the world in poverty. The conversation will also bring to the forefront economic forecasts for 2026 and what Americans can expect in the New Year. americasrt.com (https://americasrt.com/) https://ileaderssummit.org/ | https://jerusalemleaderssummit.com/ America's Roundtable on Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/americas-roundtable/id1518878472 X: @JCats2013 @ileaderssummit @americasrt1776 @NatashaSrdoc @JoelAnandUSA @supertalk @JTitMVirginia America's Roundtable is co-hosted by Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy, co-founders of International Leaders Summit and the Jerusalem Leaders Summit. Seeking the opportunity for work, Home Depot parking lots are often a gathering place for immigrants who hope to get chosen by a contractor for work and wait long hours in the elements without a promise for any job. Immigration and Customs Enforcement have come to Home Depot parking lots to detain immigrant laborers, and the Albany community showed up to condemn this relationship with a rally and short march, coordinated by No Kings Collective Albany and Capital Region Sanctuary Coalition (CRSC). Sina Basila Hickey reported from this rally and spoke with No Kings Collective Albany co-leader Bryan Paz-Hernandez, Jahaira Roldan of New York Immigration Coalition and a volunteer with CRSC, CRSC volunteer Amanda, and Chris, and organizer with the Party for Socialism and Liberation. In this episode, Lisa welcomes the Manhattan Institute's Daniel Di Martino to talk about his firsthand perspective of life in Venezuela, drawing from his personal experience growing up under a socialist regime. The conversation explores the devastating consequences of socialism in Venezuela, the rise of narco-terrorism under Nicolás Maduro, and how President Trump’s policies factor into the future of the region. Daniel also examines why socialism continues to attract support in the United States—especially among younger generations—and outlines strategies to push back against its growing acceptance.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
What does it really mean to speak of "socialism with Chinese characteristics"? Is it simply a matter of policy and political economy, or does it require grappling with thousands of years of civilizational history, philosophy, and culture? In this episode, Breht is joined by Zhao, the mind behind Goods for the People and author of Chinese Characteristics of Socialism: Civilizational Factors in CPC Governance to explore a bold and provocative argument: that while class struggle and material conditions must remain primary, China's socialist path cannot be understood without its deep Confucian, Daoist, and Buddhist inheritance. From Yu the Great's flood control and the origins of infrastructural legitimacy, to the Mandate of Heaven, Da Tong, and the tributary system, we examine how ancient ideas of harmony, moral legitimacy, and collective responsibility continue to shape contemporary Chinese governance and foreign policy. This is a wide-ranging conversation for Marxists, socialists, and anti-imperialists interested in China beyond caricature, reductionism, and Cold War myths -- one that asks how history, philosophy, and material struggle converge in the making of a socialist future, and what China's trajectory might mean for the global path toward communism. Hour 1 of The Marc Cox Morning Show kicks off with birthday celebrations for Kim, complete with donuts and laughter, before shifting into sharp political talk. Marc and Kim dissect Trump's concise national address, questioning its timing and purpose ahead of the State of the Union. The team then revisits the explosive Candace Owens–Piers Morgan exchange over conspiracy claims surrounding Charlie Kirk's shooting. Kim's “Whim” dives into America's growing flirtation with socialism, spotlighting a young entrepreneur's app that promotes shared ownership and the power of capitalism. The hour closes with a sweet surprise—Scott from Donuts Delight delivering a custom “36” donut for Kim's birthday. #MarkCoxMorningShow #KimsBirthday #TrumpSpeech #CandaceOwens #KimOnAWhim #Capitalism #DonutsDelight
In her “Kim on a Whim” segment, Kim reacts to New York's new socialist mayor, Zoran Mamdani, and rising youth support for socialism, calling it a failure of America's education system. She highlights 24-year-old entrepreneur Stephen Wang and his investing app “Dub,” which lets users mirror proven investors' portfolios to promote capitalism and shared ownership over government dependency. Marc draws parallels to index funds and warns against the risks of day trading, while Kim argues the American Dream is still alive — if people take part in the system instead of rejecting it. #KimOnAWhim #Socialism #Capitalism #InvestingApp #AmericanDream #DubApp

This is a Patreon episode we liked so much that we unlocked it for everyone to hear. We hope you enjoy it. This week, Jason and Ben sat down to acknowledge and resolve all the contradictions that have manifested in our discussions on this podcast. Actually, we don't resolve anything, but we do acknowledge some things. Our listeners will know that we often disagree with the broader left, each other, and our earlier selves. While we don't manage to piece together a solid line for the podcast, we do manage to talk a lot about those contradictions.Send us a message (sorry we can't respond on here). Love to hear from you; “Send us a Text Message”Love isn't a mood that lasts forever; it's a mission that matures. We trace the arc from infatuation to mature love, explaining what happens when the early hormone rush fades and why that moment is the invitation to choose each other anew. Costanza reframes “submission” as surrendering the urge to fix your spouse and learning to love the person you actually married. We talk about original loneliness, the deep hunger for God at the center of every human heart, and the tough truth that marriage either becomes a school of holiness or it stalls in scorekeeping and silent contempt."Vulnerable and refreshingly real. Mike shares his compelling personal journey of growing up in the former Soviet Union and immigrating to the U.S., offering a vital perspective on the dangers of socialism and communism as these terms resurface in modern politics. In this episode of Crazy Wisdom, Stewart Alsop sits down with Javier Villar for a wide-ranging conversation on Argentina, Spain's political drift, fiat money, the psychology of crowds, Dr. Hawkins' levels of consciousness, the role of elites and intelligence agencies, spiritual warfare, and whether modern technology accelerates human freedom or deepens control. Javier speaks candidly about symbolism, the erosion of sovereignty, the pandemic as a global turning point, and how spiritual frameworks help make sense of political theater.Check out this GPT we trained on the conversationTimestamps00:00 Stewart and Javier compare Argentina and Spain, touching on cultural similarity, Argentinization, socialism, and the slow collapse of fiat systems.05:00 They explore Brave New World conditioning, narrative control, traditional Catholics, and the psychology of obedience in the pandemic.10:00 Discussion shifts to Milei, political theater, BlackRock, Vanguard, mega-corporations, and the illusion of national sovereignty under a single world system.15:00 Stewart and Javier examine China, communism, spiritual structures, karmic cycles, Kali Yuga, and the idea of governments at war with their own people.20:00 They move into Revelations, Hawkins, calibrations, conspiracy labels, satanic vs luciferic energy, and elites using prophecy as a script.25:00 Conversation deepens into ego vs Satan, entrapment networks, Epstein Island, Crowley, Masonic symbolism, and spiritual corruption.30:00 They question secularism, the state as religion, technology, AI, surveillance, freedom of currency, and the creative potential suppressed by government.35:00 Ending with Bitcoin, stablecoins, network-state ideas, U.S. power, Argentina's contradictions, and whether optimism is still warranted.Key InsightsArgentina and Spain mirror each other's decline. Javier argues that despite surface differences, both countries share cultural instincts that make them vulnerable to the same political traps—particularly the expansion of the welfare state, the erosion of sovereignty, and what he calls the “Argentinization” of Spain. This framing turns the episode into a study of how nations repeat each other's mistakes.Fiat systems create a controlled collapse rather than a dramatic one. Instead of Weimar-style hyperinflation, Javier claims modern monetary structures are engineered to “boil the frog,” preserving the illusion of stability while deepening dependency on the state. This slow-motion decline is portrayed as intentional rather than accidental.Political leaders are actors within a single global architecture of power. Whether discussing Milei, Trump, or European politics, Javier maintains that governments answer to mega-corporations and intelligence networks, not citizens. National politics, in this view, is theater masking a unified global managerial order.Pandemic behavior revealed mass submission to narrative control. Stewart and Javier revisit 2020 as a psychological milestone, arguing that obedience to lockdowns and mandates exposed a widespread inability to question authority. For Javier, this moment clarified who can perceive truth and who collapses under social pressure.Hawkins' map of consciousness shapes their interpretation of good and evil. They use the 200 threshold to distinguish animal from angelic behavior, exploring whether ego itself is the “Satanic” force. Javier suggests Hawkins avoided explicit talk of Satan because most people cannot face metaphysical truth without defensiveness.Elites rely on symbolic power, secrecy, and coercion. References to Epstein Island, Masonic symbolism, and intelligence-agency entrapment support Javier's view that modern control systems operate through sexual blackmail, ritual imagery, and hidden hierarchies rather than democratic mechanisms.Technology's promise is strangled by state power. While Stewart sees potential in AI, crypto, and network-state ideas, Javier insists innovation is meaningless without freedom of currency, association, and exchange. Technology is neutral, he argues, but becomes a tool of surveillance and control when monopolized by governments.
On Saturday, December 13, local immigrant rights advocates joined in a national day of protest against ICE and Home Depot with a rally and clothing drive at Crossgates Common. The activists demanded that the company take immediate action to stop Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations in and around its stores nationwide. Across the country, Home Depot locations have become flashpoints in a growing human rights crisis. Immigration raids at and around stores have led to chaotic, violent, and frightening encounters—not only for immigrant workers and day laborers, but also for customers and surrounding communities. We hear from No Kings Collective Albany co-leader Bryan Paz-Hernandez, Tara from the Party of Socialism and Liberation, and Jahaira Roldan of the NY Immigration Coalition. This has been Mark Dunlea for the Hudson Mohawk Magazine.

The transformation of the Labour Party by 1997 is among the most consequential political developments in modern British history. Futures of Socialism overhauls the story of Labour's modernisation and provides an innovative new history. Diving into the tumultuous world of the British left after 1973, rocked by crushing defeats, bitter schisms, and ideological disorientation, Colm Murphy uncovers competing intellectual agendas for modern socialism. Responding to deindustrialisation, neoliberalism, and constitutional agitation, these visions of 'modernisation' ranged across domestic and European policy and the politics of class, gender, race, and democracy. By reconstructing the sites and networks of political debate, Futures of Socialism: ‘Modernisation', the Labour Party, and the British Left, 1973–1997 (Cambridge UP, 2023) explains their changing influence inside Labour. It also throws new light on New Labour, highlighting its roots in this social-democratic intellectual maelstrom. Futures of Socialism provides an essential analysis of social democracy in an era of market liberalism, and of the ideas behind a historic political reconstruction that remains deeply controversial today. Colm Murphy is a historian of modern British and Irish politics and political economy at Queen Mary University of London. He has published on 1970s-80s social democracy (including its political culture, evolving electoral strategy, and economic policymaking) and on Irish labour relations and nationalism in the 1910s. His more recent work has focused on the politics of economic policy, including Keynesianism, austerity, trade, and currency. Since 2018, Colm has worked for the Mile End Institute and is currently its Deputy Director. Jacob Ward is a historian at Maastricht University, the Netherlands. He has written in the history of science and technology, environmental history, business and financial history, and political history. He recently published Visions of a Digital Nation: Market and Monopoly in British Telecommunications (MIT Press, 2024) and he's currently working on a history of futurology in the United Kingdom and Europe from 1945 to the present day.
