It's Friday, April 25th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Nigerian Muslims have killed 170 Christians during Lent and Easter Nigerian Muslims killed 170 Christians during the Lenten season and on Easter Sunday in Nigeria's Middle Belt region, reports International Christian Concern. In Benue State, 72 Christians were confirmed dead following a series of deadly attacks by suspected Fulani Muslim militants between April 18 and April 20. They struck multiple villages in Ukum and Logo Counties during the Holy Weekend, turning what should have been a time of solemn reflection and worship into a scene of terror. Governor Hyacinth Alia, who visited the affected areas, described the massacre as “a calculated and strategic attack on innocent Christian farmers.” He also said, “These were peaceful people observing their Holy Weekend.  The scale and timing of the violence is heartbreaking. We cannot continue like this.” Please pray Amos 5:24 -- that “God's justice would roll on like a river.” Massive Russian strike on Ukraine's capital On Thursday night, Russia attacked Kyiv, Ukraine with an hours-long barrage of missiles and drones, killing at least eight people and injuring more than 70 in its deadliest assault on the Ukrainian capital since last July, reports CBS News. The Ukrainian Air Force said Russia fired 66 ballistic and cruise missiles, four plane-launched air-to-surface missiles, and 145 Shahed and decoy drones at Kyiv and four other regions of Ukraine. On Truth Social, President Donald Trump wrote, "I am not happy with the Russian strikes on Kyiv. Not necessary, and very bad timing. Vladimir, STOP! 5,000 soldiers a week are dying. Let's get the Peace Deal DONE!" TRUMP: “We're putting a lot of pressure on Russia, and Russia knows that, and some people that are close to it know or he wouldn't be talking right now.” In response to Russia's aggressive strikes in Western Ukraine, NATO has heightened its alert level, placing fighter jets in the "highest state of readiness," reports The Express. Former Brazilian president in ICU Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro's health condition has worsened following bowel surgery nearly two weeks ago, his doctors said Thursday, reports MSN.com. The medical team said the former president “experienced a clinical decline, elevated blood pressure and worsening liver lab test results." Bolsonaro underwent a 12-hour surgery on April 13 to remove intestinal adhesions and reconstruct the abdominal wall after the assassination attempt by stabbing in the abdomen during a campaign rally in September 2018. Democrat Senator Dick Durbin, a pro-abort, will not seek re-election Democrat Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois made an announcement on Wednesday, DURBIN: “There comes a point in your career when the torch must be passed, and I've reached that point. I will not be seeking re election to this United States Senate seat.” To his shame, Senator Durbin, age 80, has consistently voted to eliminate or prevent protections for the unborn and for children born alive after failed abortions. In addition, Senator Durbin has voted to use hard-earned tax dollars to pay for abortion, including abortion travel expenses. And he has worked to allow radical abortion ideology to be inserted into every facet of the United States Government. Illinois July 4th parade shooter sentenced to life in prison On Thursday, Robert Crimo III, the gunman who killed seven people and injured dozens in a mass shooting in Highland Park, Illinois, during a July 4th parade in 2022, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, reports ABC News. Judge Victoria Rossetti sentenced Crimo, age 24, to seven consecutive life sentences along with 50 years in prison for each person injured, Judge Rosetti said, "This court hopes this sentence brings a sense of justice and an end to the continued horror." However, the judge ignored God's just standard articulated in Genesis 9:6 which says, “Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed, for in the image of God has God made mankind." Max Lucado got a tattoo Max Lucado, the Christian bestselling writer and pastor of Oak Hills Church in San Antonio, Texas, took to social media to announce he got a tattoo, reports MyChristianDaily.com. Located on his forearm, he chose the word “Tetelestai” which is Greek for “It is finished!” That is what Jesus uttered from the cross when He had paid our sin debt, according to John 19:30. Lucado said, “I'm celebrating the golden anniversary of God's great grace in my life. 50 years ago this spring, grace found me. My testimony is interwoven with my favorite word in the Bible. On the cross, Christ proclaimed,  in Greek, “Tetelestai!” Among the meanings of this word is, ‘paid in full'.” He added, “Not everyone likes the idea of a 70-year-old pastor getting a tattoo. That's ok. I didn't do it for people, I did it to say thank you to Jesus who paid a debt I could not pay.” However, Leviticus 19:28 says, “Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD.” How “In God We Trust” became American motto And finally, on April 22, 1864, the United States informally adopted the motto "In God We Trust."  Conceived during the Civil War, Union supporters wanted to emphasize their attachment to God and to boost morale. The fourth stanza of the U.S. national anthem "The Star-Spangled Banner", adopted from the 1814 poem "The Defense of Fort McHenry", contains the line: "And this be our motto—'In God is our trust.'" “In God We Trust” was officially adopted by Congress in 1956, replacing the defacto motto of “E Pluribus Unum” which is Latin for “Out of Many, One.” Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Friday, April 25th, in the year of our Lord 2025. Subscribe for free by Amazon Music or by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com. Franklin Graham delivered the prayer service at the White House Easter prayer service and dinner. President Trump declared "It will always be In God We Trust. We will never change that… With God's help, we can overcome every challenge, triumph over every evil, and restore the spirit of faith in the United States.” Restoring the spirit of faith in America is a stark contrast from Biden's proclamation of Transgender Visibility day on Easter just last year. The Left is once again wrapped up in their obsession of celebrating bad guys, this time around its Kilmar Abrego Garcia. Senator Chris Van Hollen failed to secure a meeting with deported immigrant Kilmar Abrego Garcia in his attempt to bring Garcia "home." AOC and Cory Booker are singing the same tune but unfortunately for them, Abrego is home, as he is a citizen of El Salvador. Even more, the Prince George county gang unit identified him as gang member back in 2019. The Trump administration obliterated the Senator from Maryland when they brought in angel mom Patty Morin to share how Senator Van Hollen never even acknowledged her daughter, Rachel Morin, when she was murdered by an illegal immigrant. The IRS is looking to strip Harvard of its tax-exempt status because Harvard is choosing to be a nesting ground for anti-semitism and woke radical lunatics. Letitia James may face jail time for mortgage fraud of all things, her vengeful campaign against President Trump included his real estate dealings, while she herself was guilty the entire. As the former governor racks up more big endorsements for his mayoral run while putting out reportedly AI-assisted policy plans and mostly avoiding the press, co-host Christina Greer asks if the frontrunner in the polls wants a marriage with New York City or just a wedding. It remains to be seen, though, how his lead holds up as the election heats up and the “dwarves” — as one Cuomo aide has described them — running against him combine their matching funds to try and convince Democrats not to rank him at all in June's primary. Greer, Katie Honan and Harry Siegel discuss that, Katie's Inner Circle performance, Hizzoner sporting an “In God We Trust” t-shirt as he tries to reset his struggling reelection campaign, and much more.

Pat then breaks down several proposals the Wisconsin legislature is framing as solutions for schools throughout the state, by posting signs that say "In God We Trust" and arming teachers in the wake of school shootings. Pat shares his thoughts and we get a quick reaction from Dr. Kristin Lyerly (via Facebook) on the RFK Jr. hearings that took place yesterday. The word E Pluribus Unum appear on The Great Seal of the United States. Until 1956, E Pluribus Enum was the unofficial motto of the United States. In 1956, the official motto of the United States became In God We Trust. E Pluribus Unum, while not the official motto of our nation, still appears on our Great Seal and on other currencies and documents produced by our government.   E Pluribus Unum is a Latin phrase which means “out of many, one,” or “one from many.” This phrase pictures the United States as a melting pot. It envisions our nation as one nation, made up of many individuals. While there is diversity and division among the people that make up the United States of America, at the end of the day, we are all still Americans. Regardless of the country of our origin, the color of our skin, the type of politics we embrace, or where we stand on many social issues, we are “one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.” The United States is a unity made possible by, and in spite of, great diversity.   I want you to see that the phrase “out of many, one” could also be applied to the church. Paul has just told us that we are one on the Lord. That we stand together as one in the Lord. We are in the same body. We are indwelled by the same Spirit. We share the same hope. We serve the same Lord. We believe the same faith. We have experienced the same baptism. And, we are children of the same Heavenly Father.   As I mentioned when I preached from verses 4-6, we are made one through our relationship to the members of the Holy Trinity. The same Spirit lives in each of us. The same Lord died to save each of us. The same God has saved us and brought us into His family. We are on in Him!   Yet, as the first word of verse 7 points out, we may be one, but we are still many. The word “but” in this verse is more than a simple conjunction. It literally means “in spite of that,” or “on the other hand.” The idea is that, while we may be united in Jesus, but we are still expected to be different people. We are expected to be individuals for the glory of God. We may be commanded to do everything in our power to maintain the unity of the body of Christ, v. 2-3, but, at the same time, we are to celebrate the diversity that makes our unity possible.

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee calls the newest installment of the God's Not Dead film series a story made for this moment in history. Huckabee plays himself in the film, and on this episode of Lighthouse Faith podcast, he jokes about getting his Oscar speech ready. But in all seriousness, this film, subtitled "In God We Trust", is meant to inspire millions of Christians, especially the 40 million who sat out last election, to make their voices heard at the ballot box this November. He says every vote counts. How US Public Schools Became a New Religious BattlegroundUS News/Reuthers, By Liya Cui and Joseph Ax, on Aug. 7, 2024https://www.usnews.com/news/top-news/articles/2024-08-07/how-us-public-schools-became-a-new-religious-battleground In a discussion centering on the tension between religion and public education in the United States, the core theme highlights the rise of Christian nationalism and its implications for American identity. Proponents of Christian nationalism assert that to be American is to inherently be Christian, a claim often bolstered by a misinterpretation of the intentions of the nation's founders. Historical evidence suggests the founders sought a secular state with a democratic foundation that allowed individuals the freedom to practice any religion or none at all. They envisioned a country based on self-determination and the separation of church and state, a principle that is currently being challenged in places like Louisiana and Oklahoma. In Louisiana, new school policies mandate that the Ten Commandments be prominently displayed in every classroom, a move seen as a clear violation of the Establishment Clause of the U.S. Constitution, which prohibits government endorsement of religion. Meanwhile, Oklahoma's educational system has adopted a policy requiring the Bible to be taught across all grade levels, with teachers expected to integrate biblical references into their lessons. These actions are drawing criticism for infringing upon the constitutional separation of church and state and are seen as attempts to indoctrinate students with a singular religious perspective. The conversation delves into the broader social and psychological aspects, suggesting that such policies stem from resistance to inclusivity and a desire to maintain traditional, conservative values. With a conservative majority in the Supreme Court, some lawmakers feel emboldened to push these boundaries, believing there is a possibility of getting away with such violations. The belief is that by presenting these religious teachings as fundamental to American identity, they can rally their base by portraying governmental pushback as an overreach and an infringement on religious freedom. This discussion also touches on the potential impact of these policies on educators and students. There is concern that the emphasis on religious content will detract from the teaching of critical thinking and evidence-based knowledge. This could undermine the quality of education and the development of well-rounded, analytical thinkers. Critics argue that a government's role should be to create unity from diversity, not to impose uniformity of thought. The conversation concludes by emphasizing the importance of maintaining a clear boundary between religion and government to prevent the criminalization of thoughts and beliefs. The current U.S. motto, "In God We Trust," is contrasted with the historical motto "E Pluribus Unum," advocating for a return to the latter as it better represents the inclusive and unifying ideals upon which the country was founded. The Non-Prophets, Episode 23.33.4 featuring Scott Dickie, Aaron Jensen, Jimmy Jr. and "Eli" (Eli Slack)Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-non-prophets--3254964/support.

It's Wednesday, July 31st, A.D. 2024. This is The World View in 5 Minutes written by Jonathan Clark and heard at www.TheWorldView.com.  Filling in for Adam McManus I'm Ean Leppin. U.K. Upholds Ban on Puberty Blockers  A High Court judge in the U.K. upheld the country's emergency ban on puberty blockers for children on Monday. Mrs. Justice Lang based her decision on the Cass Review. The study found so-called “gender-affirming care” could actually be harmful for gender-confused children.  Lang ruled, “In my view, it was rational for the first defendant to decide that it was essential to adopt the emergency procedure to avoid serious danger to the health of children and young people who would otherwise be prescribed puberty blockers during that five- to six-month period.”  Trump Calls out Harris for Hostility to Christians In the U.S., former President Donald Trump called out Vice President Kamala Harris last Friday for targeting people of faith. Trump spoke at the Turning Point USA event and criticized Democrat's hostility toward Catholics in particular.  TRUMP: “As everyone here understands, the radical left ideology, Kamala supports is really militantly hostile toward Americans of faith.  And you saw that during the pandemic, where people couldn't get together.  Even when they want to get together with big spaces outside, they were ravaged.  As a senator, she viciously attacked highly qualified judicial nominees, simply because they were members of the Knights of Columbus, suggesting that their Catholic faith disqualified them from serving on the federal bench.” Trump also promised to cut funding for schools that push “critical race theory,  transgender insanity and other inappropriate racial, sexual, or political content onto the lives of our children.” Tech billionaire Elon Musk posted a clip of Trump's statement, commenting, “Save our kids!”  1 out of 7 Americans Would Consider Moving if their Presidential Candidate Loses A new survey from StorageUnits.com found 15% of Harris and Trump voters say they will move if their preferred candidate loses. Among Harris voters, 19% said they would consider moving to a different state if Trump wins the presidential election. The top states they would consider moving to are New Jersey, California, and New York. Among Trump voters, 12% said they would considering moving if Harris wins the election. Many would consider moving to states like Florida and Texas.  Fewer Protestants Inviting Others to Church Lifeway Research reports 60% of protestant churchgoers have invited someone to church with them in the past six months.  That includes 20% who made three or more invitations. The numbers are slightly down from 2017 when 62% of respondents had invited someone to church. And 25% had offered three or more invitations.  Lifeway found younger people, people who attend church more often, and evangelicals were among the most likely to invite others to church. Most Americans still Credit God for Mankind Gallup released their latest data on what Americans' believe about the origin of human life. A record 24% believe human beings have developed over millions of years from less advanced forms of life, but God had no part in this process. That's up from 9% in 1982.  Meanwhile, 34% believe human beings have developed over millions of years from less advanced forms of life, but God guided this process. That's slightly down from 38% in 1982. And 37% believe God created human beings pretty much in their present form at one time within the last 10,000 years or so. That's down from 44% in 1982.  Hebrews 11:3 says, “By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.” Anniversary of “In God We Trust” Motto And finally, this week is the anniversary of when the U.S. made “In God We Trust” its official motto. Congress passed legislation to make the phrase the motto on July 30, 1956. President Dwight Eisenhower signed the legislation the same day.  But that's not all President Eisenhower did to acknowledge God during his presidency.  As reported by PBS here is historian Kevin Kruse: KRUSE: “It's during Eisenhower's presidency, for instance, that the prayer breakfast became an annual event - an event at which clerics and politicians of all political stripes come together to pray for the nation.  We get the addition of ‘under God' to the pledge of allegiance for the first time, which had previously been secular, had no mention of God.  We get the adoption of a God we trust as the nation's first official motto in 1956.  It's added to paper currency for the first time in 1957.” The phrase “In God is our Trust” appeared in “Defence of Fort M'Henry,” a poem written by  Francis Scott Key in 1814. The poem would become the lyrics of the U.S. national anthem, better known as “The Star-Spangled Banner.” The poem's fourth verse says: “Praise the Power that hath made and preserv'd us a nation! Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just, And this be our motto— ‘In God is our Trust'.” And that's The World View in 5 Minutes on this Wednesday, July 31st, in the year of our Lord 2024. Richard Ellis Talks

The only way for our nation to be godly is if its people are godly and choose to trust the Lord with their lives. It's one thing to slap a bumper sticker on our car saying, "In God We Trust", but it's another thing to live it out daily. If we want our country to progress towards godliness, we have to allow God to use us to touch the lives of those around us.
