When The Wolf saw that Jason Bonham was bringing his Led Zeppelin Evening to town he was interested but a little skeptical. Though John Bonham's oldest child is now a grandfather himself with four decades of experience, I didn't know what kind of show it would be. Turns out not only has Jason assembled an incredible band that can truly do justice to Led Zeppelin classics but Jason gives us a glimpse into his brief time with his dad. As MC between songs, Bonham helps keep the crowd loose with his laid back persona and sly humor which keeps the fans engaged. Sharing stories about John and also fanboying with Jimmy Page and Robert Plant (they had to limit him to 2 Zeppelin questions a day during the Celebration Day rehearsals) give the audience what they want - direct connection to the men who made this incredible music. And the band are fantastic. James Dylan (Vocals, acoustic) can hit some of those classic Plant notes while Alex Howland provides part of the John Paul Jones roll on keys and acoustic. The other half is Dorian Heartsong on bass/mandolin - all of them are brilliant players. But Jimmy Sakurai has taken on the essence of Jimmy Page with his hair, clothing, movements and equipment. He not only looks the part but he's got the tracks down and it makes for a fun night of Led Zeppelin - a night where they celebrate Physical Graffiti at 50 by playing the whole thing! After Custard Pie and The Rover, they played the songs out of order with Jason dipping in and out to share his own stories of learning to love Led Zeppelin and other music of his generation (Stewart Copeland is way better than you Dad!). During the acoustic set they all sit on the drum riser and Jason tells us why they used to give Bonzo a tambourine for the acoustic Zep sets. From there they build to a crescendo using all the power the 1975 double album had to offer, ending with one John Bonham co-wrote by telling Jimmy dunna-dunna dun, click, dunna-dunna dun, click, dunna-dunna dun, click, dunna-dunna dun. Don't be skeptical - know that this a fun night for Zeppelin fans with great stories to go along with epic music you can't get live anywhere else these days. If you can see them, GO!! In our Species 1995 Movie Review, we drop you straight back into the chaotic brilliance of mid-90s cinema, where practical effects, erotic sci-fi horror and unapologetic B-grade madness collided to create something truly unforgettable. In this episode of Born to Watch, Whitey, Gow, and Damo go deep into the 1995 creature flick that defined many a teenage boy's movie-going experience. They unpack the film from top to bottom, celebrating the nostalgia, questioning the logic and laughing at the sheer absurdity that made Species a cult classic.Whitey kicks things off by reminding us that the nineties were the final analog decade. Plans were made by phone, movie rumours spread by word of mouth, photos were printed, and mystery still existed. Out of that world came an alien seductress named Sil, played by Natasha Henstridge in her unforgettable debut. The boys discuss how this “erotic sci-fi horror” served as the perfect storm of schlock, suspense, and snorbery, with a surprising amount of A-grade pedigree hiding behind the B-grade sheen. The crew swap first-watch stories, revealing who saw it at the movies, who wore out the VHS and who had only seen the, let's say, memorable scenes on repeat. They break down the cast, including a peak Michael Madsen showing maximum smoulder, Ben Kingsley collecting a paycheck, Forest Whitaker feeling everything as an empath, and Alfred Molina delivering one of the most gloriously stupid character decisions ever put on screen. From there, the episode dives into Species' glaring logical gaps. The boys question how a creature only days old can understand cars, language, currency, sex, and self-sacrifice. They rip into the nightclub bathroom scene, which was somehow empty, the world's cleanest train conductor uniform, the magically perfect self haircut, and that spectacularly unconvincing fake-death scene, which makes no sense. Add an oil reservoir under Los Angeles, a fireball that should still be burning today and a final sewer showdown straight out of Aliens, and you have a recipe for pure nineties chaos. The team also digs into production trivia. Henstridge's big break as a 19-year-old model, Madsen's reluctance toward violent roles, HR Giger's sexualised creature design and the film's surprising success at the box office. The boys even cover Species' most prestigious accolade, the 1996 MTV Movie Award for Best Kiss, complete with an on-stage pash and a very unimpressed boyfriend watching on.As always, the gang wrap things up with The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, Snorbs Report, Ordinary People and Question Time, where the dumb decisions of this film truly shine. Was Spa Man the dumbest man alive? Would anyone ever leave a hot tub to answer the phone? Do diabetics get a raw deal in this movie? Why does Sil's intelligence fluctuate depending on what the script requires? It is all here, and it is all hilarious. This Species 1995 Movie Review is full of nostalgia, stupidity and sci-fi sleaze, but above all, it is pure Born to Watch. Strap in for '90s madness, a whole lot of snobs chat, and plenty of laughs as the boys relive one of the most chaotic creature features ever made.JOIN THE CONVERSATIONIs Species the most outrageous sci-fi horror of the '90s, or just the most unforgettable?Did Natasha Henstridge redefine the term B-grade icon?Would you have survived Sill's mating spree, or ended up like poor Rapey Robbie?Listen now on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or at BornToWatch.com.auDo us a favour: hit follow and drop a five-star review. There's a scene in the 1986 movie “Wildcats” that was oft-imitated by kids trying to be funny back in the late 1980's. A group of cheerleaders dance and chant at the other school's cheerleaders, “U-G-L-Y you ain't got no alibi! You ugly!” While the scene was intended to be funny, the real-life sentiment is still being dished-around as a biting criticism among the teenage population. In today's social media saturated world, it's the word “Chopped” that's trending among kids. While we adults are largely ignorant to teen slang, we need to be aware that when teens call someone “chopped”, they're issuing a put-down about that person's appearance or social status. We need to respond with the kind of support that builds resilience if our kids are being labeled as “chopped.” And, for those kids who call others “chopped” either face-to-face or online, we need to correct them, reminding them that the Scriptures call us to treat others with Christ-like love, kindness, and humility.

The Jets somehow pull out a win despite Justin Fields throwing for just 54 yards thanks to special teams heroics and a dominant defensive effort. Boomer and Gio react to one of the strangest victories of the season, as Aaron Glenn's crew finds a way to win ugly while the Giants sink further into chaos.
The Giants blow another fourth-quarter lead this time in Chicago and Brian Daboll's future feels more uncertain than ever. Boomer says if Jaxson Dart can't go, it has to be Jameis Winston on Sunday, while Gio wonders how much longer ownership can wait to make a change. The Jets somehow beat the Browns despite Justin Fields throwing for just 54 yards, and Boomer gives credit to Darren Mougey for keeping the team alive. Plus, the Bills get smoked by the Dolphins, the Patriots roll in Tampa, and even Steve Cohen's gold toilet makes an appearance.

How do you pull off the biggest, most violent smash-and-grab in human history? You can't just say that's what you're doing. You need a story. You need a justification. This episode is a three-part journey into the long, dark, and ridiculously complicated shadow of empires, framed as "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly". Part 1: The "Good" We dissect the official PR campaign for global domination. This is the "civilizing mission", the "divine mandate", and the "enlightened" philosophy of men like John Locke and John Stuart Mill. We explore how scientific racism and cultural projects like Orientalism created "The Other" , culminating in the infamous "White Man's Burden". Part 2: The "Bad" This is the reckoning. We watch as the colonized turn the master's own tools—"Liberty, Equality, Fraternity"—against him, exposing the empire's glaring hypocrisy. We cover the earth-shattering Haitian Revolution, Gandhi's brilliant moral theater with the Salt March, and the groundbreaking philosophy of liberation. We dive deep into Frantz Fanon's devastating diagnosis of colonialism as a mental illness and Edward Said's unmasking of Orientalism. Part 3: The "Ugly" The story doesn't end when the flags come down. We confront the world we live in now: Neo-Colonialism. We trace how the system mutated, swapping soldiers for bankers. This is the story of the IMF and World Bank, "Structural Adjustment Programs" that crippled new nations, and the creation of a new "comprador" elite. Finally, we explore the new liberation movements, from "decolonizing the mind" to the urgent fights for debt forgiveness and climate justice. This isn't just a history lesson; it's a look at the code that still runs our world. Support me to keep the show going on Patreon https://patreon.com/dannyballan

As my feet begin to hit the ground after last week's speaking event I landed in this very human chat on resilience, the kind you actually feel in your bones, with Harps. We opened with the usual chaos, long nails, zero filters, and shenanigans... and from there we went straight into the good stuff. We talked about walking your talk when life is messy, why personal development isn’t a brand but a practice, and how sometimes life is just a total you-know-what and you still need to show up for an hour and be amazing. I shared the behind the scenes on my keynote build, the resistance (oh yeah, there was plenty of that), the almost pull-out, and the moment it all clicked. We swapped stories on freezing, failing, riding the wave anyway, and choosing the room that grows you, not the room that claps for you. It’s raw, honest, and actually useful. Almost 40 days into the government shutdown and the predictable seems to be playing out, the GOP is extending an olive branch and tasty goodies for the Dems to re-open. This is pathetic. Former CIA Director John Brennan could be in serious trouble as the DOJ is starting to issue subpoenas for a grand jury. The Chiefs have a wandering eye so strong that requests for proposals are out for architects and builders and a new stadium in KCK according to a report from Pete Mundo at KCMO Talk Radio. Meanwhile, the Royals have surveyed their fans and the results trickling out are hilarious. The Broncos are the best defense, and the ugliest team in all of football. They also now have the league's best record. Lee Sterling of www.paramountsports.com is here with the pigskin picks and our song of the week is about the new communist New York City.
