On March 12, 2025, the Idaho House of Representatives voted on HCR 9 and HCR 10. This was the first time ever that the Idaho House has considered our Article V legislation. First, they debated HCR 9, which is 34|Ready legislation that would set the state's rules for selecting and governing commissioners to an Article V convention. Secondly they debated HCR 10, which contained our Article V resolution calling for a convention to propose amendments that would place fiscal restraints, jurisdictional constraints, and term limits on members of Congress and Federal office. To cap off this episode, co-hosts Rita Peters and Andrew Lusch share their highlights and lowlights from the debate.
Idaho is one of only ten states that doesn't have a shield law.
On February 17 the Idaho House Committee on Judiciary, Rules, and Administration held a public hearing on our Article V application (HCR 10) to rein in federal power as well as our 34Ready bill (HCR 9) which would set the procedural rules for selecting and guiding commissioners to an Article V convention. Rick Santorum provided expert testimony. Providing commentary are Senior Vice President for Legislative Affairs Rita Peters and Regional Directors Catherine Zemanek and Andrew Lusch. After a debate among the legislators and a series of motions, the committee ultimately advanced both pieces of legislation to the House floor by a vote of 8-7 with "do-pass" recommendations. Luke 4:21-30Then he began to say to them, "Today, this scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing." All spoke well of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his mouth. They said, "Is not this Joseph's son?" He said to them, "Doubtless you will quote to me this proverb, 'Doctor, cure yourself!" And you will say, "Do here also in your hometown the things that we have heard you did at Capernaum."And he said, "Truly I tell you, no prophet is accepted in the prophet's hometown. But the truth is, there were many widows in Israel in the time of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, and there was a severe famine over all the land; yet, Elijah was sent to none of them except to a widow in Zarephath of Sidon. There were also many lepers in Israel in the time of the prophet Elisha, and none of them was cleansed except Naaman the Syrian."When they heard this, all in the synagogue were filled with rage. They got up, drove him out of town, and led him to the brow of the hill on which their town was built, so that they might hurl him off the cliff. But he passed through the midst of them and went on his way. If you heard last Sunday's sermon, it was full of good news, but I warned you that things were going to change. Back in Nazareth, Jesus' hometown – his friends, family, and neighbors had heard what he'd been up to – preaching and teaching his way around Galilee, and when he showed up in the synagogue, where we find him, still, today – he had that good news for them, which he has been anointed by God to share: “good news for the poor, release for the captives, recovery of sight for the blind, freedom for the oppressed, and the year of the Lord's favor.”And they were all over it. Their home-town boy made good. A local hero. An anointed prophet, filled with spirit and good news and so many gracious words falling from his lips. And Jesus knows they'd like more than just to hear about these things. They'd like to see some of his best work, too, which is why he kind of teases them with that old proverb, “Doctor, cure yourself.” “Show us a trick.” “Give us a show.” “Let's see just how ‘anointed' you really are.”He knows what else they're thinking, too: “Jesus, do something for us – your family, friends, and neighbors – like we've heard you've been doing out there in the world. Release some captives, here. Heal some of us who are sick. Give some of the Lord's favor to those of us who know you best, now that you're home. If you're doing it for them, surely you can do it for us, too.”But Jesus reminds them – not so subtly – that this “Lord's favor” the prophets spoke of wasn't about playing favorites, or taking sides, or “us and them.”He reminds them about how – during a famine once, way back in the day – when all of Israel – the nation of God's chosen ones – could have used a little release and recovery and a dose of the Lord's favor, the prophet Elijah was sent outside the fold, to help some widow at Zarephath in Sidon. And he reminds them about how, during the good ol' days of the prophet Elisha, there were plenty of Hebrew lepers who could have used a cleansing, but that God sent the prophet to an outsider – some foreigner named Naaman, from Syria. And when they hear it, Jesus' newly minted fans lose their minds. They turn on a dime. They turn on Jesus. And they run him out of the synagogue, and straight out of town.“You mean this grace and favor and this recovery and release stuff isn't just for us?!” “You mean we aren't supposed to look out for number one?!?!” “You mean we don't take care of our own, first, and then pick and choose who we think might be worthy?!?!?” “You mean this ‘recovery' and ‘release' and ‘freedom' and ‘favor' is for them, just as much as it is for us?”And, to begin to grasp what was so upsetting and unsettling to Jesus' hometown crowd, we need to be reminded about the insignificance of these widows and these lepers and these foreigners about whom he was telling them. They were at the bottom of the barrel as far as social standing was concerned. They were outcasts. They were outsiders. They were unclean, unworthy, unloveable, and unwanted by the rest of the world. (They were probably undocumented, too, if you know what I mean.)Because, not only was Jesus talking about the outcast, the sinner, the shamed, and the shameful, he was talking about people outside of the Jewish circle. Jesus was saying that, just like the prophets Elijah and Elisha had shown … foreigners to Israel were welcome to the grace of God, too. Not only was God's grace for losers – like lepers and widows – but it was even for Gentile widows and Gentile lepers, too. Which seems to imply that there wasn't anyone beyond the reach of God's love, or beyond the reach of Jesus' own ministry, as a result.Could this be a more hard, holy, timely lesson for us, these days? If Jesus walked into the midst of his people this morning – Christian churches on Sunday morning, filled with those of us who call ourselves, friends and family and brothers and sisters and siblings in Christ – what would HE find, and what would WE do, if he reminded us about the likes of Naaman, the Syrian, or about that widow from Zarephath in Sidon – outsiders and outcasts and foreigners, too?It reminds me of how Bishop Mariann Budde, from the National Cathedral simply, humbly, faithfully, graciously, kindly asked our President to show mercy to immigrants who are afraid of what border policies and deportation practices could mean for them and their families – and about how at least one US Congressman proposed she be deported for it; the 21st Century, American version of being hurled off a cliff, you might say.It makes me think of the rabbit hole of reels and Tik Toks I found myself in, just this week, where Christian-flavored people spend a lot of time explaining why women can't be and shouldn't be allowed to be priests and pastors in the Church. These were men and women, young and old, red and yellow, black and white followers of Jesus – in the year of our Lord, 2025 – who are blind to the fact that, other than Jesus, the very first person EVER to proclaim the Good News of the Gospel, was Mary Magdalene on that first Easter morning. It makes me think, too, of a conversation at the Wellness Center, right around the corner – and quite recently – where someone made note of how, as more people of color find their way there that “the quality of the clientele seems to be going downhill.” I couldn't help but wonder where she might be worshiping Jesus this morning. And did you know that just this past Monday, the Idaho House of Representatives passed a memorial suggesting the US Supreme Court reconsider – and undo – the legalization and protection of same-sex marriage in our country? Heather Scott, the Idaho state representative behind it all, blamed it on Jesus, suggesting that Christians across the nation are being targeted by having to welcome the idea of marriage equality. The sad truth is, too many Christians are still too busy looking for cliffs whenever the message of God's grace and love and mercy and favor gets too wide and too mighty and too scary and too uncomfortable and asks too much of us. And Naaman, the Syrian, and that widow at Zarephath, in Sidon – and those knuckleheads in Nazareth – are all just First Century examples of our 21st Century reality. So today, “this Scripture that is fulfilled in our hearing,” convicts us to ask, who are the 21st Century “widows” and “lepers” among us – because none of this is about widow and lepers anymore. Who are the unloved, the unloveable, the unworthy, or the unwanted as we sit here this morning? Even more, who do we pretend is outside the circle of God's grace as far as Christians in the Church and our community are concerned? We can try to limit God's grace or draw lines in the sand and keep it for ourselves. We can even vote for politicians and policies that do our bidding one way or another. And we can pretend that Jesus' preaching and teaching has nothing to do with those politicians or those policies. We could even try to silence the truth by running the messenger out of town or by hurling him off a cliff or by nailing him to a cross – but we have been there and we've done that and we know how that story ends.Or, rather, we know how that story begins, thanks be to God.Because it is the resurrection that reminds us that God's grace will be shared – no matter what. It will bring good news to the poor. It will release the captive. It will restore sight to the blind. It will let the oppressed go free. The Lord's favor will be proclaimed – whether you and I – Jesus' friends, family, and neighbors are on board or not.And what always gets me when I hear about Jesus' near-death experience that day in Nazareth, is the invitation to get with the program. What I hear is a call to the Church – our congregation at Cross of Grace and the larger Church as God's people in the world – to not be left standing on the cliff like the people of Nazareth, only to find that Jesus has passed through the midst of us – untouched. What I don't want any of us to find is that he's continued on his way sharing grace, doing justice, and offering God's blessings to a world so desperate for it, but that we were too busy or too angry, too self-absorbed or too blind, too partisan or too proud, too selfish or too scared, to join him in that work.Amen

It's Thursday, March 30th, A.D. 2023. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldView.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Israeli Prime Minister opposes criminalization of Christian evangelism Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke out against a new bill that would criminalize Christian evangelism. Last Wednesday, he tweeted, “We will not advance any law against the Christian community.” The anti-conversion bill would punish violators with at least one year in prison. Members of the United Torah Judaism Party proposed the legislation to suppress the spread of the Gospel in Israel. In a statement, a spokesman said, “Recently, the attempts of missionary groups, mainly Christians, to solicit conversion of religion have increased … the many negative repercussions, including psychological damages, warrant the intervention of the legislature.” Romans 1:16 says, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.” Pope hospitalized Pope Francis has a respiratory infection and will need to spend a few days in the hospital in Rome, reports the British Broadcasting Company. The 86-year-old had breathing difficulties in recent days, but does not have COVID-19. United Methodist Church's perversion push costs more delegates The United Methodist Church is now losing its regional bodies in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. On March 18, United Methodist Church delegates from Russia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Estonia voted for allowing regional bodies to leave the denomination. The delegates also voted against a proposal that would have authorized the blessing of people living sexually perverted lifestyles. The split comes as United Methodists in America and western Europe are pushing support for such perverted lifestyles. Biden eager to strip students of religious liberty Members of the U.S. House of Representatives' Committee on Education and Workforce sent a letter to Education Secretary Miguel Cardona last Friday. The Republican representatives are challenging a Biden administration proposal that would remove protections for religious student groups. In 2020, the Trump administration established a policy known as the free inquiry rule. The rule prohibited public institutions from discriminating against religious student organizations. Now, the Education Department is moving to rescind the rule. The Republican letter referenced research from the Christian Legal Society. The research documented anti-religious discrimination in 90 campuses in 35 states in recent years. Idaho bill would end trafficking teen girls for abortion The Idaho state Senate advanced a bill Monday to end the trafficking of teenage girls to other states for abortions, reports LifeNews.com. Linda Thomas, Director of Community Outreach for Stanton International, a medical pro-life pregnancy outreach, said, “With abortions virtually banned in Idaho, Planned Parenthood and other organizations are actively coaching and luring women across state lines for abortions. This is abortion trafficking.” The bill already passed the Idaho House. It's expected to pass the state Senate, and Republican Governor Brad Little will likely sign it. Marriage is good for women's physical and mental health A new study published in Global Epidemiology found marriage is good for women's physical and mental health. The study examined 11,830 American female nurses who were deciding on marriage in the 1990s. Twenty-five years later, the women who got married had a 35% lower risk of death compared with the women who did not get married. The married women also had lower risks of cardiovascular diseases and depression. Dr. Brendan Case and Dr. Ying Chen at Harvard University helped conduct the study. In a Wall Street Journal column, they wrote, “Our findings, added to an already extensive literature showing the value of marriage, ought to serve as a wake-up call for a society in significant denial about this crucial element of flourishing.” Protestant missionaries arrived in Hawaii 203 years ago And finally, the first Protestant missionaries arrived at the Sandwich Islands, now known as Hawaii, on this day in history in 1820. That was the original name that James Cook, a British explorer, chose in honor of John Montagu, a British statesman known as the 4th Earl of Sandwich who invented the sandwich. The missionaries were sent by the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions, America's first organized missionary society. The first missionaries to Hawaii came thanks to a young Hawaiian named Henry Obookiah. He traveled to the United States and became a Christian. As one of the first Hawaiians to convert, he urged for his teachers to send missionaries back to his homeland. He died in 1818, but his wish would come true. Describing the first missionaries to Hawaii, Historian Peter Young noted, “Most of them were young people, still in their twenties, full of life and enthusiasm. All were pious . . . Some were scholars able, when the native language had been mastered, to put into Hawaiian the Scriptures from the original Hebrew and Greek.” 1 Timothy 4:12 says, “Let no one despise you for your youth, but set for the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.” Close And that's The Worldview in 5 Minutes on this Thursday, March 30th in the year of our Lord 2023. The Idaho House of Representatives has passed a bill known as the "Greater Idaho" bill, which seeks to expand the state's territory by moving the Oregon-Idaho border to encompass a significant portion of Eastern Oregon. The bill grants Idaho lawmakers the authority to initiate discussions with their counterparts in Oregon to explore the feasibility of relocating the state line.Reps. Barbara Ehardt of Idaho Falls and Judy Boyle of Midvale collaborated on the joint resolution aimed at initiating formal talks with the Legislature of Oregon. The resolution received a favorable outcome, passing with a 41-28 vote."America's actually watching; we're not the only state looking to do this," Ehardt said. While debating on the House floor, supporters of the bill argued that adopting Idaho's laws in eastern Oregon would be beneficial in distancing the state's drug laws from the existing population centers of Idaho.According to the report, supporters also pointed to an economic analysis conducted by the Claremont Institute, which demonstrates that the incorporation of rural Oregon counties into Idaho would result in a positive net financial outcome for the latter.Although the Oregon Legislature proposed a bill that would permit such discussions, it has been dormant since early January and has yet to show any progress.Support the showSign Up For Exclusive Episodes At: https://reasonabletv.com/LIKE & SUBSCRIBE for new videos every day. https://www.youtube.com/c/NewsForReasonablePeople

The Babylon Bee Has been suspended on Twitter for naming Rachel Levine as their Man of the Year https://twitter.com/Steve_Sailer/status/1505768655207903238?s=20&t=BKWBnwuyliwJ85J5UEIy5Q Seth Dillon, the CEO of the Babylon Bee posted yesterday the notification that their account has been locked for violating Twitter Rules – specifically against hateful conduct. “You may not prompt violence against, threaten, or harass other people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, religious affiliation, age, disability, or serious disease.” Apparently, the mockery that Rachel Levine makes of the Christian faith, real women, and the truly mentally retarded doesn’t count with Twitter. As far as we know, various Ayatollah’s in Iran are still happily tweeting about stoning homosexuals and their ownership of many child brides, like the Prophet Muhommad. But Babylon Bee clapped back nicely in a post on Facebook with a headline saying, Babylon Bee writers struggling to come up with new material after Twitter Bans 1 of their 2 jokes. With a thumbnail picture of the Man of the Year post, reposted. https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=286578320312583&set=a.158909999746083 Well played, Babylon Bee. And if you do the social media thing, make sure to share those posts, or screenshots of them far and wise, especially on Twitter. Gov. Little & and Idaho Enslavement https://www.ktvb.com/article/news/local/gov-little-senior-nutrition-bill-50th-anniversary-idaho-senior-nutrition-program/277-57c37201-5c7a-48fd-b4ce-84af8237335b?utm_campaign=snd-autopilot Governor Brad Little signed House Bill 687 into law at the Mountain Home Senior Center Monday, highlighting the impotence of Idaho families to take care of their own parents and grandparents. Gov. Little also signed a proclamation recognizing the 50th anniversary of the Senior Nutrition Program (SNP) which has funded non-profit organizations and local agencies to serve home-delivered and communal meals to older adults and people with disabilities. This is because Gov. Little wants the people of Idaho to be dependent on the government for taking care of the needy and elderly in our midst. These were part of an overall plan of enslaving Idahoans through government benefits. The cleverly named “Leading Idaho” plan is actually leading them right into slavery, and will be spending $5 million of Idaho taxes to make Idahoans even more dependent on the state for taking care of their own families. Pretty soon the people of Idaho will have to ask Gov. Little what medicine or treatment they are allowed to give their parents and grandparents, or even if we are allowed to see them. You know, like Gov. Cuomo did in New York state when COVID broke out. You’d think that the people of Idaho would have no use for this sort of thing, but apparently they can be bought off like cheap hookers. "We are seeing many folks moving to Idaho to retire and bringing their parents with them. Whether you've lived here all your life or you are new to Idaho, it is critical we make investments to meet the needs of this important growing population in our state." Governor Little said, explaining that unless the government offers handouts, we will probably not know how to take care of our own parents and grandparents, because the people of Idaho are incompentent idiots. "This bill enhances local senior centers, which are the hub of all kinds of community activity across most of Idaho.” The Governor explained, assuming that the people of Idaho hate their parents and grandparents and can’t wait to ship them off to government detention centers where they will hopefully die soon. “With the passage of this important component of my 'Leading Idaho' plan, we are telling Idaho seniors they matter to all of us." Right, except that we are not communists. The best care for our parents and grandparents comes from their own families. Our parents are not animals that you can herd into pens. Our parents and grandparents are unique people with unique needs, and the families of Idaho are in the best position to intelligently provide for our own families, just like God told us to. So please keep your money to yourself, Gov. Little and stop treating us like you are the master of our plantation. We are not your slaves, and you cannot buy our freedom. On the other hand, we would be very grateful if you would use the sword that God has entrusted you with in protecting the lives of the unborn. The Idaho House and Senate recently passed Heartbeat Bill Changes legislation 1309 that would create a private enforcement mechanism that would allow family members aborted preborn babies to sue the abortionist who committed the crime. That legislation is currently on Gov. Little’s desk, awaiting his signature. This would also put the Idaho hearbeat law into effect 30 days after his signature.
