Hi, I'm Jason Boxer. I'm running for one of the two open seats in the Manhattan Unified School District here in California. The purpose of this podcast is to not only to let the community get to know me, and what's happening in the district, but it is also our unique approach to campaigning in the time of coronavirus. School board campaigns are usually won at public gatherings, community talks, and in the backyards of our residents. Unfortunately, that element is being taken away. This podcast will allow voters to access information at their leisure, and gives people an opportunity to hear me speak in fluid conversations, not just prepared statements. Thank you so much for checking it out! Paid for by Jason Boxer for Manhattan Beach Unified School District Governing Board 2020 (FPPC ID Number Pending

Episode 10: Paul Silva Interviews Jason

Play Episode Listen Later Oct 28, 2020 46:47

Hey Everyone! This week is a little different. This will be our last episode before Election Day, and we’ve turned the tables. I’ve invited the former Executive Editor of the Beach Reporter Paul Silva to interview me! As Paul states in the interview, he is a supporter of mine, and he’s not appearing in the capacity of an unbiased journalist. I did not have knowledge of the questions he asked me ahead of time, however, and he asked me some real good ones! I hope you enjoy it.You can read Paul’s expansive body of work with the Beach Reporter at tbrnews.com. Type Paul Silva into the search bar and you’ll come across a wealth of his columns, which most of you probably don’t need me to tell you are immensely insightful and inspiring. He has halfway come out of retirement as of late and published a few recent columns - the latest is entitled On the ballot, as in life, character should count. Give it a read when you have a moment. As of the air date of this episode, you have only six days left to vote! You can access all the info you need about where and how to vote in Manhattan Beach by visiting tinyurl.com/votingMB. Get out there and vote!It is not too late to get in touch with our campaign if you have any suggestions, concerns, or ideas. You can reach me directly at jasonformbusd@gmail.com, as well as on facebook, twitter, and instagram at that same handle - jasonformbusd. If you’d like to help with our final volunteer push - we’ll be distributing some literature around town in the next few days - you can sign up for that on the “Get Involved” page of the website, jasonformbusd.com. And if you’d like to spread the word about the campaign, feel free to share this podcast with anyone you think might be interested!

This week’s episode is a little different. Over the course of the campaign I’ve had the immense pleasure of getting to know my hometown in a way I never thought possible. I’ve had deep conversations about our community with a wider variety of Manhattan Beach residents than I ever have before in my 20+ years of living here. Some - and admittedly not all - of these people have determined that I’m up for the job of sitting on our School Board. On today’s episode, we’re going to hear from these people directly. I simply the asked the question - why will you be voting for Jason?
