I believe that every person can be a great leader and one quality of a great leader is being a great learner. I have found that some of the greatest learning moments come as a result of conversation. As a leader in church I find great leaders in families
In life it's so easy to stay general and to build walls to protect ourselves. As leaders we have to make it personal. If we want to succeed and we want the people around us to succeed it has to be personal. Today let's take a look at the life of Jesus as inspiration for making our mission personal.
I have always found it easy to isolate myself. Isolation protects you from being hurt and it protects you from letting others down… Or so I thought. We see throughout the gospels that Jesus went away often to find solitary places to pray. If Jesus, the creator of the world the savior of our souls needed to get away at times and quiet His soul, I think we need to learn how to get away and quiet our souls as well. This episode is the first episode in a mini series “Leaders ...” Join me next week for part two of this discussion, “Leaders Pray”
It seems as leaders one of the things we have the opportunity to do most is adapt. Have you struggled adapting to new roles? Maybe you've had a hard time in our current season finding your place. In this conversation Pastor Craig Brown talks about those very things, he even leaves us with some awesome, practical steps to walking out adaptation.
Discipline will carry you when motivation runs out. What an amazing thought! When we don't feel like leading, when we feel like we've done all we can do and gone as far as we can go, our disciplines will keep us locked in. Jump in to part 2 of my conversation with Pastor Josh Bingle of Genesis Church in Spokane, WA. If you didn't catch part 1, go check that out now and come back to part 2.
As leaders we lead through easy seasons and we lead through really difficult seasons. A good leader isn't one who avoids the bad seasons or stormy seas, a good leader is one who knows how to get you to the other side safely even in the storm. Join me for Part 1 of this amazing conversation with Pastor Josh Bingle. I hope this conversation encourages you to lead strong in every season.
Have you ever wondered how certain people just have the ability to "lift" any room they walk into? They just seem to have tapped into something special, it's almost like they've got a secret weapon. Well, they do, and so do you. In this conversation with Stephen Brewster we talk about everything from leading creatively, to finding that secret weapon and ways to improve coming out of COVID-19. We hope this conversation encourages you to dig deep to discover your secret weapon and inspires you to lead strong. On Tuesday we heard a conversation I had with Connor White, discussing the idea of dreaming big, sticking to your dreams and goals, even how to face adversity. Today I wanted to share with you how I am practically applying some of the key thoughts and takeaways from that conversation to my life. 1. GO FOR IT! * What's the best case scenario? * What's the worst case scenario? * Can I handle either one of those? 2. YOU NEED THE CRITICS. * Don't seek yes men, seek people who will tell you the truth. 3. NEUTRAL THINKING * Negative thoughts are always bad. * Positive thoughts are not fool, proof. My Neutral Thoughts: Plan, Pace, Finish
Have you found it difficult to dream big, and if you do have a dream have you found it difficult stick it out, to see how it plays out? Well in today's episode Chris sits down with Connor White of Contrary To Popular Belief, and they discuss everything from the origin of a dream, to seeing it through, working through transition and how to deal with the negative voices. It's our hope you leave this conversation feeling inspired to dream bigger and encouraged to lead strong. "It Takes What It Takes"
In this conversation Abel Garza of COMPLEX Barbershop, talks about the importance of having a dream, a vision and sticking to it. In order to achieve great things in life as a leader you will also need to surround yourself with great people, better than yourself in many situations. Abel talks about his crew at the shop, some of his inspirations as he was developing and his goals as a leader, leading people.
As leaders, especially in a season such as the one we are currently navigating people need us as much as ever. As there is a higher demand placed on leadership and a premium put on you and what you offer to people, there will naturally come additional pressure. Today I want to talk to you about leading yourself in three simple but very important areas. Physical, spiritual and emotional. If we lead ourselves well here, we will be healthy and strong leaders equipped to lead others well.
Welcome to the pilot episode, the launching of the Let's Talk Leadership podcast. I am so excited to start this journey with you!
