In this week's episode we are discussing “The Kevin Samuels Era” and complexities of the perception of the ideal high valued woman or man. How do you define those terms? Nothing is off limits. Dive in as we have a transparent talk about dating, marriage, and compatibility. Why is it hard to find someone compatible? Because people are so dead-set in their ways and totally unwilling to change. No compromise, nothing. We also will be having a girl chat talking about the negative connotations about wearing bonnets in public and the pressure of acceptance in today's society. Damn if you do, Damn if you don't. In this week's episode we are discussing why does society teaches us to compare and compete against one another? Why her, you ask? Girl, it’s because it is God’s timing. Everyone has their own journey, their own story to tell. Someone else’s personal testimony should inspire you to be your best version of yourself, not instill jealousy and envy. But here’s the tea... when one win, WE ALL WIN! In order to understand what it means to THRIVE successfully in womanhood, women must develop both a solid foundation and cultivate an impactful understanding of key components critical to achieving their better self. The purpose is to instill a vision of what can be and draw others forward in a positive way. The concept is important because it identifies the significance of the ways that women of color make time for themselves, celebrate themselves, and connect with each other. In this week's episode we are discussing why dating is so difficult. We examine the challenges that uniquely impact men and women. The most common and biggest reason why it's so hard to fall in love is a fear of commitment. Labels can terrify some people, but for others, the uncertainty of where the relationship stands is also terrifying. Love requires us to confront our own laziness, impulsiveness and boredom, which is hard for most people to do. It could all be so simple. In this week's episode we are discussing the grieving process after death. Grief is a natural response to loss. It’s the emotional suffering you feel when something or someone you love is taken away. Often, the pain of loss can feel overwhelming. Coping with the loss of someone or something you love is one of life’s biggest challenges. Whatever your loss, it’s personal to you, so don’t feel ashamed about how you feel, or believe that it’s somehow only appropriate to grieve for certain things. There is no right or wrong way to grieve. Inevitably, the grieving process takes time. Healing happens gradually. In this week's episode we are discussing why mental health matters. Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood. Although anyone can develop a mental health problem, African Americans sometimes experience more severe forms of mental health conditions due to unmet needs and barriers. According to the Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health, African Americans are 20% more likely to experience serious mental health problems than the general population. 1 in 5 people are affected by mental illness. This means that, even if we don’t talk about it, most likely we have one of these illnesses or know someone who does. African Americans may be reluctant to discuss mental health issues and seek treatment because of the stigma associated with such conditions. In this week's episode we are discussing the common mistakes we make in our 20s and 30s. No one is immune to making mistakes – we are human! But if we simply apologize and carry on as before, we're in danger of repeating the same errors. When we don't learn from our mistakes, we inflict unnecessary stress on ourselves and on others. The best part about your 20s and 30s is that you can recover quickly from the inevitable mistakes you'll make as you figure out how to make it in the real world. "Making a mistake" is not the same thing as "failing." A failure is the result of a wrong action, whereas a mistake usually is the wrong action. So, when you make a mistake, you can learn from it and fix it, whereas you can only learn from a failure.
