Dr. Behrooz Ghamari-Tabrizi, himself a former political prisoner, models what a letter of solidarity written to Iranian political prisoners might look like: https://www.jadaliyya.com/Details/47613/An-Alternative-Open-Letter-to-Iran%E2%80%99s-Political-PrisonersI'd say subscribe to https://www.rfemedia.com/ for the full episode but we forgot to get to Dr. Ghamari-Tabrizi's solidarity letter until the very end. So enjoy the full episode for free! Our argument is not a new one: that western intellectuals who purport to be anti-imperialist often do the work of imperialism by bothsidesing human rights abuses and war crimes, thereby manufacturing consent or at least fostering an information atmosphere of moral confusion so people find it challenging to pick a side. This directly aids and abets both Imperialism and the War State. Enjoy!

Dear Tamice, Malynda, Kristian and Ciarra — This is the 1st draft of this letter. That is mostly a note to self, because I keep thinking of the stutter in terms of one I started to write on April 7th of this year. Similar in tone but to someone completely different. Someone we all know, and anyway, I never finished that letter. I thought this would be a continuation, a spinoff of that, but reading that other draft of that other letter? Ugh. Not only was it for someone I don't speak to anymore, it was from someone I don't speak as anymore. Honestly, I couldn't even finish it. It was embarrassing how gentle it was. Before reading it, I had a thought that maybe I would go back to one of the last official religious resignation letters I wrote. Maybe the one from nine years ago to the lead pastor of the mega church I was part of, or maybe the open letter from six years ago that kinda catapulted me into this space when I wrote about the evangelical behavior of that pastor when it lost him his job. To see, and, I guess, prove not only how much I've grown, but that I grew up here, in front of y'all, to prove my right to be here, and to say what I'm about to say. To show you all my papers, 'cause that's what we've been conditioned to do as black folks. But, turned out there was no need for me to go that far back to be cringeworthy. Daniel and I, as Cat Tetris, are posting something to social media every day in August. He's got the odd days. I got the evens. And today is an even day, so... We are posting to make ourselves practice a few different visibility skills, including no disclaimers. So we've got a 10 word caption limit. Because there is never a day when I legitimately have nothing to post, but there are infinite times I don't, because I feel like I need to explain what I'm sharing, and I can't, because what's understood doesn't need to be explained. So the fact that I'm constantly expecting to be misunderstood here, that's actually red flag shit, 'cause it didn't used to be this way. I didn't used to feel that way in or about this space. The whole way I fell in was just speaking my mind and connecting with people who were in the same spiritual and or emotional and or mental place at the same time. And for a while, it was fine. But at some point, we lost the plot, because we stopped following it. We stepped into the space and started just standing around, commiserating instead of conspiring, plodding in circles, instead of plotting and planning. Settling instead of setting off. One of my best friends just FaceTimed me. I told her I was writing this letter, and that it's a step in my plan to give us free. I know she believed me about this letter. I hope she believed me about the freedom, and I hope I come through. So I didn't end up looking back at either of those other letters. They don't matter. They were to and for an audience that has aged badly and is looking more and more like its parents. I'm handwriting this letter. When I finish this draft, I will go back and rewrite all of this, to satisfy the people pleasing part of my brain that likes being known for my handwriting. I'm not going to type it, because typing allows for a certain level of convenience that lends itself to wasting words. But when handwriting, ain't nobody got time for all that. So it helps me stay focused. I'm leaving the deconstruction space for real and for good this time. I've been trying to leave for the past few years, which is extremely reminiscent of how I left, and how I felt, leaving evangelicalism. There were attempts, and then there, eventually, was a definitive break. This is my definitive break from exvangelicalism, which is literally just new evangelicalism. And y'all are the new tokens. “Misbehave, make something beautiful, and try to win.” — Curtis White's motto for resistance How to say no to fascism? Curtis White, the literary thinker dubbed “the splendidly cranky utopian,” has published what he calls a “manifesto” of “resistance.” On Resistance, the 75-year-old White told me, is his last work of non-fiction. He still has worlds to invent, novels to write. Enough with the manifestos. But don't expect a program. On Resistance is more of an anti-manifesto. “That's not for me to say,” White responds when asked what, exactly, we're supposed to do to resist fascism. His resistance is cultural. It's an attitude. Borrowing from Ted Gioia's subversive history of music, White likes the idea of “psychic treason.” Its patron saints are the first dropouts, romantics like Wordsworth and Coleridge who rejected the military, clergy and family to write poetry in the countryside. But On Resistance isn't simply sixties nostalgia. White, a veteran of Berkeley and the Haight, prefers the Nietzschean imperative to forget the past and move on to the next joyful deed. So the only good manifesto is the anti-manifesto. If you want to say no to fascism, become a cranky utopian. Or at least pick up On Resistance. Five Takeaways • Psychic Treason. White's resistance is not conventionally political — Trump appears once or twice, party politics not at all. Borrowing “psychic treason” from Ted Gioia's Music: A Subversive History, he argues that the arts are subversive by nature: sometimes formally, sometimes by allying with social movements. His founding example is the Romantics, the first dropouts — Wordsworth and Coleridge refusing the military, the clergy, and the family estate to write poetry in the countryside, declaring cultural war once the church was out of the way. The treason White wants is the one the arts commit constantly, whether or not anyone calls it politics.• Not Nostalgia — Nietzsche. The sixties made White: Berkeley in high school, San Francisco after, and the formative discovery that his country “had lied to me” and was indifferent to whether he lived or died. But On Resistance opens with the confession “I am living in a world that no longer exists” — and refuses to make anyone else live there. One chapter is bluntly titled “Forget The Beatles.” His position is Nietzschean: move on to the next joyful deed. And the rot, he insists, didn't start with Trump but with Reagan — the decades-long withdrawal of public money from public goods, education above all.• The Three False Resistances. The book's first half is ideology critique: our culture says resistance is unnecessary because it has already been provided — by philanthropy, virtuous corporations, and liberalism. White's exhibits: Steve Jobs Buddha-branding the counterculture to sell machines to people who thought they were subverting something; the “big green” foundations (via Mark Dowie) taking over grassroots fights and defanging them; the Gates Foundation vaccinating children against polio downwind of a polluter it was invested in. Philanthropy, he argues, self-limits to protect the source of its own wealth. Patagonia may be the quiet exception that proves the rule.• Dropping Out, Together. White's alternative is dropping out — plural: doing something else, and doing it with other people. The organic farms and farmers markets that have created communal well-being in most American cities; FC2, the author-run press he co-founded with Ronald Sukenick, past its fiftieth anniversary; the thriving-but-invisible independent presses — Graywolf, Coffee House, Rochester's Open Letter — for which he's now plotting a group Substack. The obstacle is the money jail: everyone's struggle for money limits what it is possible to do. The goal isn't overturning the status quo. “What we need right now is companions.”• Misbehave, Make Something Beautiful, Try to Win. White's motto since The Middle Mind — the making beautiful needn't be art; the trying to win is where misbehavior gets socialized. His lineage runs Thoreau, Whitman, William Carlos Williams, and above all John Berger: Marxist, art critic, poet, writer of lively living books. His Marxism, such as it is, is the humanist 1844 Manuscripts — alienation, not expropriation — via Marcuse's One-Dimensional Man. And the book itself is the argument: playful and fierce, a performance that moves like a novel, reinvigorating worthy old ideas rather than hunting new ones. At 75, it's his last nonfiction — written in a spirit of play, to be left in one. About the Guest Curtis White is a novelist and social critic whose books include Memories of My Father Watching TV, The Middle Mind, The Science Delusion, and Living in a World That Can't Be Fixed. Called by Elle “the most inspiringly wicked social critic of the moment,” he is co-founder, with Ronald Sukenick, of FC2, the publisher of innovative fiction run collectively by its authors, and taught English for many years at Illinois State University. His new and, he says, final work of nonfiction is On Resistance: A Manifesto (Melville House, August 11, 2026). He lives in Port Townsend, Washington. References: • On Resistance: A Manifesto by Curtis White (Melville House, August 11, 2026). Jeffrey St. Clair: “a trail guide through our disorienting and perilous political landscape.”• Music: A Subversive History by Ted Gioia — the source of “psychic treason” and the argument that the arts subvert by nature.• The Middle Mind by Curtis White — where the motto was coined: misbehave, make something beautiful, and try to win.• Jon Taplin in Rolling Stone — the recent essay asking whether the counterculture can rise again, and a recent Keen On conversation in the same key.• One-Dimensional Man by Herbert Marcuse — the Western Marxist tradition, via the 1844 Manuscripts, that taught White to worry about alienation rather than expropriation.• FC2 — the author-run press of innovative fiction White co-founded with Ronald Sukenick, now past its fiftieth year. Hey, it's Alex (yeah, I'm finally back from my vacation!) What a freaking week to come back to! Just after our last episode was published, Anthropic releases Opus 5, Jensen joins X and drops the “Open Weights & AI Leadership” open letter, Kimi K3 is released the following Monday beating expectations, and then the AI hack (OpenAI model breaking sandbox and infiltrating HuggingFace) is on everyone's mind, another Open Letter, this time from over 1K employees inside the frontier AI companies all talk about pacing the pace of frontier AI development. We played with Opus 5 and Kimi K3, and had the great pleasure to chat with friends of the pod Elie Bakouch (Prime Intellect) and Philip Kiely (BaseTen) about this important open weights release, then covered our general thoughts on Opus 5, and made order of all the different open letters that came out this week. Finally we chatted with Max from Pangram about the next version of AI writing detection (their biggest yet) and finished with Zuckerbergs (also on X! what's going on with everyone joining X) op-ed on the vision of personal superintelligence for everyone. Let's dive into this (as always, all the links and sources at the end, please don't forget to sub to our podcast on your favorite podcast app!) Open Weights AIKimi K3 the king of open weights - 2.8T chonker MoE near frontier model (X, HF, Blog, Tech report)This has got to be the biggest news of this week, and maybe the open weights AI news since GLM 5.2. MoonShot came back with Kimi K3, and we haven't seen any models quite this large in the open. Even Grok 4.5 is around 1.5T, this model is nearly 2x the size. Coming in at close to 3T parameters (and 2.5terabytes of weights at MXFP4 format), this model comes in very close to frontier! This was such an important release that I invited 2 friends of the pod, Elie Bakouch (prev HuggingFace, now Prime Intellect) and Philip Kiely (Author of Inference Engineering book, BaseTen) to dive deep into what makes this special! Elie's take, from reading the tech report, there's no single secret sauce, it's a combination of already available in the open techniques. Like KDA (Kimi Delta Attention) that has been out for a while, attention residuals, NVIDIA's latent MoEs. The highlight for Elie was the scaling work they did that reported a 2.5x scaling efficiency over Kimi K2.5 (2.5 performance at the same compute)! They also skipped RoPE entirely in favor of NoPE (the report calls it No Positional Encoding) for long context.Serving 1.4TB on eight GB300s (Baseten blog)Philip's team at Baseten was a day-zero provider (we're still working on bringing this model to CW Inference, stay tuned!) so I invited him to tell us behind the scenes of hosting this beast. Philip said that just loading the weights takes about 1.5TB!! of VRAM, and that's before the KV cache allocation + 1M token windows, so they're serving it on 8 GB300s where NVL72 . Baseten worked with the vLLM and SGLang teams on kernels and he also said they contributed patches back upstream! The model was trained with MXFP4, which, unlike Nvidia's own NVFP4 is a more standard format per Philip. I enjoyed his deep dive analysis into the differences, but because of this and because they trained the model with quantization awareness, it's “only” 1.5TB vs the would-be 5-6 TB if that this model in FP16 would demand. One of the more favorite nerd snipes moments, Philip pointed out that his colleague discovered that with over 99% of the usage being cached (think harnesses that send millions of the same cached tokens back and forth), tokenization actually starts to become a bottleneck. So they released a custom “basetenkenizer” that reduces the latency to serve the first token significantly! Great job!The harness in question is very importantOne important callout with 2 evidence pieces - the way you inference this model really matters. Kimi trained K3 with preserving thinking history, so when your harness uses it, it must send back the full thinking and tool use into the API to get the best next response. If your harness strips that out, you're not getting the most intelligence out of Kimi (shoutout to Niels from HF team for pointing this out). Additionally, the Composio folks, tested K3 on 3 harnesses, Kimi Code, Hermes and Claude Code. The difference in outcome was negligible, but the different in cost and number of tokens is definitely surprising! Claude Code (as a harness only) took 9x more Kimi tokens to get the same responses! This is also why Kimi Vendor Verified exists, their own held back benchmark of how well model providers serve Kimi across different quantization, tokenizer and KV cache settings. Benchmarks and the license! Ok let's start with the ugly... this isn't MIT, not remotely. This model is suspiciously served by all providers with exactly the same price (check OpenRouter) and requires inference companies to sign a contract with Kimi (I've no internal knowledge of this except that CW folks are working on it). Not something I particularly like, but hey... we're still advancing the frontier here! Speaking of frontier, this model approaches the frontier very closely. On DeepSWE, K3 sits just behind Fable 5 and GPT-5.6 Sol at 67%, beating GPT-5.5 & Opus 4.8. On Terminal-Bench 2.1 it takes second place behind GPT 5.6 Sol! It's 4th overall on Agentic Arena, with frontend design being genuinely good across the board - 1st on Design Arena

What do we really owe the legends... and what do they owe us?In this thought-provoking episode of the Ern and Iso Podcast, the duo tackles one of hip-hop's biggest conversations by presenting an open letter to Jaÿ-Z.From selling drugs along the East Coast, to creating Roc-A-Fella Records when no one believed in him, to releasing the classic Reasonable Doubt and ultimately becoming one of the world's first billionaire rappers, Jaÿ-Z's journey is one of the greatest success stories in music history. But after accomplishing everything he set out to do...Does he still have a responsibility to help the next generation?Ern shares why he believes Jaÿ-Z owes the culture nothing financially—but questions whether his experience, influence, and leadership could help artists navigate an industry filled with 360 deals, streaming payouts, and ownership battles. Antifa is an IdeaFORT WORTH, Texas — Eight members of a North Texas Antifa terror cell received historic federal sentences on Tuesday, with prison terms ranging from 30 years to life in prison for their roles in the shooting ambush on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention facility. The attack led to the first federal Antifa terrorism prosecution — and later convictions — in U.S. history.U.S. District Judge Mark T. Pittman sentenced ringleader Benjamin Hanil Song to 100 years in prison. Song was convicted of the most serious offenses in the case, including attempted murder and discharging a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence. Prosecutors proved at trial that he shot Alvarado Police Lt. (The Kessler Heights neighborhood commune also functioned as one of the group's bases.)The defendants were among nine Antifa members convicted by a federal jury in March following the first federal Antifa terrorism trial in U.S. history. Their prison sentences are the longest in American history for convicted violent Antifa members.Feds Drop Hammer on 15 Minnesota Antifa Members Accused of Organized Anti-ICE Violence 15 members of an Antifa cell in the Twin Cities have been federally indicted over mass anti-ICE violence in JanuaryA federal grand jury has indicted 15 members and associates of a Twin Cities Antifa network accused of organizing violent coordinated efforts to obstruct U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations in Minnesota. The 94-page indictment charges the defendants with conspiracy to impede or injure federal agents and officers, alleging they worked together from January through June 2026 to prevent ICE and other Department of Homeland Security personnel from carrying out federal duties.A member of the cultlike Zizians group is charged in the killings of her parents in PennsylvaniaIn this image from video, Michelle Zajko, who authorities say is associated with a cultlike group known as Zizians, is escorted into court for a pretrial hearing in Cumberland, Maryland, on January 16, 2026.AP — A member of the cultlike group known as Zizians has been charged with murder in the shooting of her parents at their Pennsylvania home on her 30th birthday, and a prosecutor said Wednesday she wasn't acting alone.Delaware County District Attorney Tanner Rouse said evidence from a neighbor's doorbell camera, ballistics and analysis of cellphone records have left investigators certain Michelle Zajko is at least partly responsible for the deaths of her parents, Rita and Richard. They were shot in her childhood playroom on New Year's Eve 2022, surrounded by her old dolls and toys.“At this time we do not know who her co-conspirators were, but we are very certain that Michelle Zajko was in the home and arranged for the death of her parents,” Rouse said. The new charges against Zajko, who has been jailed in Maryland on other charges since February 2025, include murder, burglary and conspiracy charges in her parents' deaths. She has denied killing them, and in court filings suggested her father might have killed her mother and himself.“I didn't murder my parents,” she wrote in an April 2025 “ Open Letter to the World” that her attorney sent to The Associated Press.Authorities had long described Zajko as a person of interest. The two deaths are among six linked to the Zizians, a group of young, highly intelligent computer scientists who appear to share radical beliefs about veganism, animal rights, gender identity and artificial intelligence. Since 2022, members have been tied to the death of one of their own during an attack on a California landlord, the landlord's subsequent killing, the Zajkos' deaths in Pennsylvania, and a highway shootout in Vermont that left a border agent and another Zizian dead.Zizians face charges in multiple statesZajko, now 33, also is charged with providing the gun used to kill U.S. Border Patrol Agent David Maland in January 2025, though nothing has happened in that case. She was arrested in Maryland a few weeks later along with Daniel Blank and Jack “Ziz” LaSota, whom authorities describe as the group's leader. Police who responded to a landowner's complaint about suspicious people parked in box trucks on his property described them as having “ties with the Zizians Cult” and said they would be questioned about crimes across the country.Zajko had been estranged from her parents in the year leading up to their deaths, the prosecutor said. In a January 2022 text message to her father, she complained that her mother had “assumed the worst” about her since she was a child.“Every time I interact with mom in a nonsuperficial way she spends the time insulting a life she knows nothing about,” Zajko wrote. Hours before her death, Rita Zajko apologized to her daughter and wished her a happy birthday.“That text went unanswered,” Rouse said.Richard Zajko's sister-in-law, Roseanne Zajko, thanked police and prosecutors Wednesday, saying that her family has endured “countless days of darkness and despair” waiting for justice.SCOOP: Radical LGBQ and so-called “T” activists at a Pride event in Amarillo, TX, caught on camera ASSAULTING two Christian men

A Chairde,As June heads towards July the distant beat of your drums is pounding out their rhythm. The marching season for all of the Loyal Orders is well underway and the 12 July is fast approaching. One July, sitting during yet another negotiation, into the early hours with Tony Blair the ratatat of Lambegs sundered the quiet. We paused as he asked if I knew what that was. Yes ,I replied that's the Orangemen.“Jungle drums?” he said.I am minded to remind you that the Battle of the Boyne was fought on the 1st July not the 12th. The date changed in 1752 when the English adopted the Gregorian calendar introduced by Pope Gregory. The war was part of a much wider European conflagration – the Nine Years War. James was backed by the English Aristocracy, by France and by the Irish Catholic aristocracy. William who was James's son-in-law and King of Holland, was backed by the English merchant class, by Pope Innocent X1, by Spain and Germany and by Protestant settlers in Ireland. At its core it was William leading a ‘Grand Alliance' of Europeans to curb the power and expansion plans of the French King. The Pope contributed to Williams expenses and when news reached Rome of the victory there was a Te Deum hymn sang in a “joyous proclamation of praise, thanksgiving and faith.” The Pope was front and centre of it all. So much for No Pope Here! Bodenstown“To say all in one word, Ireland shall be independent. We shall be a nation, not a province, citizens not slaves.” Wolfe Tone On 28 June Republicans from across the island of Ireland will travel to Bodenstown, County Kildare, to stand in homage at the graveside of Theobald Wolfe Tone, the founder of Irish Republicanism. For those who know of Tone and for those who don't I want to recommend a new publication – Bodenstown: Honouring Wolfe Tone – A Pictorial History – which tells his remarkable and inspirational story and recounts the generations who have travelled to Bodenstown each June to remember and celebrate his life. This new publication profiles Tone and publishes photographs of many of the commemorations that have been held there. The first image of Bodenstown is of Padraig Pearse delivering the oration in June 1913. The Irish Republican Brotherhood had asked Pearse to speak and the event was chaired by veteran Fenian Tom Clarke. Both were executed by the British less than three years later following the 1916 Easter Rising. Cupla Focal Eile.Another few words í nGaeilge as part of this column's contribution to the effort to use whatever Irish we have even if it is only a wee bit. Here are a few more bits and pieces to replace their English equivalents.Lá breithe shona duit means Happy birthday to you. It also sounds really good when sung by a crowd at a birthday gathering. Or even on a one to one basis. Try it. Use the same air as the English version. Tiomaint go curamac means drive carefully. Sliothar is a hurling ball. Tóg go bóg é means take it easy. Slán abhaile means Safe home.
There is a competitive streak to men when driving. It doesn't always come out, but when it does, look out! Also, Cards sweep the Reds and SLU will face MIzzou in men's basketball.
Texas Democrat James Talarico's list of biblical absurdities continues to grow. Added to his claims that God is “non-binary,” that “the Bible is silent about abortion,” and that there are “six different genders,” we now have his contention that Mary's consent to the virgin birth is a story about her being “prochoice.” So how should we respond?

Dear Paul Krugman,You used to be the kind of journalist I thought was telling the truth. I looked up to you, as I did so many writers at the New York Times. I was a different person then. That was before everything changed. The year was 2020, a summer of riots and a breakthrough moment when many of us realized for the first time that the Gray Lady was not telling us the truth.I have been on the internet for 30 years. I watched the collapse of traditional media and the rise of opinion-based journalism, the kind you do, Paul. Do you mind if I call you Paul? Mr. Krugman sounds so formal, and really, I'd like for you to see me as a human being, someone worthy of your attention and respect. Now that I have confirmation of what I've assumed all along, that people like you, Kara Swisher, Peter Baker, and Susan Glasser would like people like me thrown into re-education camps or gulags, I feel it's worth the extra effort to get you to see real people again. To the horror of many, you went viral last week for your comments on what all of you will do with Trump supporters and the system that elected him. It was ugly, Paul. As ugly as anything I've seen written by a high-minded journalist and certainly closer to what the Nazis believed about the Jews than anything I've seen in my lifetime:“Purging of the United States, we need a de-MAGAfication. I'm not going over the top by using a word that's very similar to the de-Nazification that we pursued successfully after World War Two in Germany. It's not just the MAGA ideology, but the whole structure of hugely unequal power, hugely unequal wealth that made this horrific moment possible. It's not going to be easy, but, and maybe it's not going to be doable, but we have to try, because this is an absolute, this is a nightmare, this is the nightmare beyond, I think, even the worst fantasies of progressives, beyond the worst fantasies of conservatives, who still have a conscience, there still are plenty of those, but they're no longer MAGA. This has to be turned around, and we should not, above all, whitewash or forget this moment. This is where a lot of forces in America have been leading, and if we don't do something beyond just getting rid of Trump, it's going to happen again.”It can't have been easy, watching Trump win a second time and this time the popular vote, or to admit you are no longer relevant and that the only value you have is in giving the base of the Democratic Party their daily dose of hate and fear. Why didn't Americans listen to your constant bleating about the end of the world? That's an important question to ask, Paul. After all, they're your most popular videos.Your Substack, with over 500K subscribers, is no less alarmist:It looks like your Substack is paying you more than you made at the Times, that's for sure. So why not keep pumping it out, day after day, like a broken record — fear, hysteria, hatred, more fear, more hatred. What could possibly go wrong? You all seem certain you're about to take back power and put things back where they belong. The only question you seem to have on your lips is not how we can better address the needs of the people, but what you will do with all of those MAGAts.You don't even pretend there is a whole country or even half of a country that voted all of you out, not once but twice. You have no shame in admitting you see yourselves as better than the working-class half of America. You fully admit it. You bask in it. You know your power, Paul, and that's maybe the only true thing you know about yourself. So let me set you straight on a few things. You are not the Allied Forces after World War II, and Trump is not now, nor has he ever been, Hitler. The closest thing to Fascism this country has ever seen is with all of you in power. It became “all sticks of wood bound together as one,” a “fasci,” with all elements of our society mandating conformity or else. Your side ruled through fear and violence, and still does. You violently beat Trump supporters and feel emboldened to do so, just like Hitler's Brown Shirts. You probably never even knew that in 2015, Trump supporters were beaten and harassed and called Nazis. On the Left, there is no such thing as free thought and speech, which is why cancel culture collapsed the empire and why Tyler Robinson had to silence Charlie Kirk. So who are the real fascists, Paul? On your side, thought and speech are heavily policed throughout our culture. Everyone is tracked, monitored, and under constant surveillance lest they like the wrong tweet, follow the wrong person on social media, or read the wrong news outlet. Just because people like you cosplay that ICE is the Gestapo doesn't make it so. It took 80 years for the world to forget about the Holocaust. But no one should ever forget what that looked like, and it wasn't mass deportations or even detaining a five-year-old or shooting Alex Pretti and Renee Good. Shame on you. Shame on all of you for even suggesting that what we've just lived through is on any level the same as what happened during World War II. 70-80 million people were killed. 600,000 in America alone. Even the war in Gaza can't compare, and shame on anyone who suggests it's the same. None of this should have to be said to a man who enjoys high status inside utopia, a well-educated elite who lives on the Upper West Side and enjoys a decent retirement while he's discarding half of America like human garbage. You tell me who the real Nazis are.You don't have to tell me. I already know. I escaped the suffocating dystopia that you live in. I escaped the world that no longer knows the meaning of important words like fascist, Nazi, dictator, king, and pedophile, never mind man or woman. I escaped that world because the truth always mattered to me more than being liked, making money, or having status.I can't say the same for you, Paul, or any one of your former colleagues at the Times. We're watching the destruction of legacy media in real time, just one of the pillars of your now collapsing empire. Trump won because ordinary Americans can't stand living under the oppressive thumb of the high and mighty, like yourself.I didn't see what kind of power we all had until 2020. We had built a Shining Woketopia on the Internet that gave us complete control of all institutions of power - educational, cultural, corporations, and institutions. We thought we could shape the America we dreamed of. The problem was that there was a whole other America outside our bubble, and it took Donald Trump to ignite a populist revolt. The idea that this was about racism and bigotry was a lie. It was never Hitler invading. You were never the resistance. You've been living in a dream world of your own making. You destroyed yourselves trying to destroy Trump. The real story of the last ten years will never be told by any of you, much less seen or understood.I still see signs of the MAGA I know. I just saw one near the memorial site for the deadly battle of Antietam. From the middle of America, on the side of a store just living out their ordinary days near the ghosts of profound history, this:I am no longer welcome in your world, Paul. Some days, that hurts more than others. But when I see what you have become, calling for a “purge” and “de-MAGAfication, I know you don't know this country anymore. You've been isolated for too long, and you've been participating in a decade-long deception.I also know I have the truth on my side, and that makes me the lucky one.// This is a public episode. Blue Origin's New Glenn rocket exploded yesterday, and miraculously, no one was harmed. The Trump administration released a new website about aliens in America, and it ends with a twist. Glenn reacts to all the performers who are backing out of the America 250 event due to its "divisive" nature. What is so divisive about celebrating America's 250th birthday? Glenn addresses a recent Huffington Post article on the rise in society of the use of the word "retard." Glenn criticizes Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson after she dissented from even her liberal colleagues in a recent SCOTUS decision. Glenn speaks to Stanford University student Taryn Thomas, who was a pro-Palestinian activist who had a change of heart after visiting an exhibit paying tribute to the victims of the Nova Music Festival atrocity. Glenn dives deeper into the true reason why performers are backing out of the America 250 concert celebration. BlazeTV host Steve Deace joins to discuss the controversy surrounding the America 250 event and how Americans should celebrate this milestone. Glenn explains why he has devoted this summer to educating the younger generations. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The o”ST”-14 Groza Kit from Stuff and Things is a simplified engineering copy of the Russian OTs-14 Groza bullpup conversion, designed as a bolt-on kit for PSA Krinkov/AK-74U pattern firearms in .300 Blackout or 5.56. The reel from stuffandthingsinc announces that Grozas are shipping this week and displays kit components including the carry handle with installed rear sight, grip module with installed trigger, and linkage. It is an all-metal kit with black phosphate finish that requires no permanent modification to the host firearm (though some fitting may be needed due to AK tolerances). PROOF RESEARCH(Nick) Pxt A New Era of Rifle Barrel Technology The PXT story began around 2018, as the U.S. military pushed to extract greater performance from existing weapons platforms. That effort led PROOF into medium-caliber cannon barrel development and forced a complete reassessment of rifling profiles, twist rates, pressure, projectile behavior, and barrel… BULLET POINTS PEW REPORT Glacier National Park Grizzly Bear Attack on Anthony Pollio On or about May 3, 2026, 33-year-old Anthony Pollio was killed by a bear on the Mount Brown trail in Glacier National Park. A can of bear spray was found near the site. The article contrasts this with the 2014 Mount Brown Trail incident where Brian Murphy successfully stopped a charging grizzly using bear spray followed by one shot from a .357 Magnum revolver at 7-10 feet, after which the bear went down and stopped moving. The .357 Magnum round did not kill the bear but incapacitated it temporarily. No recorded deaths in North America when a handgun was fired in defense against a bear. PEW REPORT Arsenal Inc. Open Letter to NSSF on Virginia Assault Weapons Ban Arsenal Inc., a Nevada-based firearms manufacturer and importer (associated with K-VAR.com), published an open letter dated May 22, 2026, responding to Virginia's newly signed assault weapons and high-capacity magazine ban effective July 1, 2026. The letter frames the law as an unconstitutional restriction that creates legal uncertainty, compliance burdens, and business paralysis for citizens, manufacturers, distributors, retailers, ranges, and trainers nationwide, citing precedents in California and Washington. Arsenal Inc. announces immediate heavy discounts and prioritized shipping for Virginia customers through June 19, 2026, while calling on the NSSF and the broader firearms industry to provide coordinated legal, grassroots, and public support, treating the issue as national rather than state-specific. PEW REPORT AI Could Render the Federal Ban on Creating a Gun Registry Obsolete Article discusses a University of Wyoming Firearms Research Center working paper arguing that AI systems could create ‘registry-equivalent knowledge' by extracting, linking, and inferring firearm ownership data from ATF's existing 921 million digitized records (including Form 4473s, out-of-business dealer records, and NICS metadata containing names, addresses, and serial numbers). This would bypass the intent of 18 U.S.C. § 926(a) prohibiting any system of registration of firearms, owners, or transactions, especially as federal AI policy integrates more data. No specific firearms, accessories, or field gear are mentioned. GUN FIGHTS Play the best Price Is Right-style GunBroker game on the internet. GOING BALLISTIC BEARINGARMS.COM(Savage) Washington State Gun Control Laws Fail to Curb Crime on Seattle's Aurora Avenue Seattle residents struggle with rising crime despite Washington state's gun control laws. Washington state has enacted multiple gun control measures including waiting periods, red flag laws, universal background checks, high-capacity magazine bans, and assault weapon bans. Despite these, residents near Aurora Avenue in Seattle report uncontrolled drug dealing, prostitution, and shootings, with minimal response from city officials. Neighbors have erected reinforced barriers and posted “No Gunfire” signs while the mayor's office announced increased patrols by the Gun Violence Reduction Unit and community-led efforts; the article argues the focus on lawful gun ownership over criminal enforcement, combined with local taxes driving out FFLs, has left residents scrambling for protection and exercising Second Amendment rights. BREITBART(Savage) Indiana Police Chief Earl D. Mayo Faces Felony Charges for Allegedly Selling Guns from Evidence Room The police chief of New Chicago, Indiana, Earl D. Mayo, is facing felony charges over accusations that he sold guns from police investigations to a pawn shop. Earl D. Mayo, 45, Chief of the New Chicago, Indiana Police Department, was arrested in Clark County, Ohio and charged with seven felonies (two counts of theft, two counts of official misconduct, one count of attempted obstruction of justice, and two counts of unlawful possession of anabolic steroids) plus one misdemeanor theft count. He is accused of selling guns seized during police investigations to a pawn shop. A 47-year-old woman, Taneka Roshawn Borders, faces related charges of attempted obstruction of justice and possession of anabolic steroids for allegedly attempting to repurchase one of the guns on his behalf with $600. BEARINGARMS.COM(Savage) Virginia Governor Spanberger and AG Jay Jones Respond to Prosecutors Refusing to Enforce Assault Firearm and Large-Capacity Magazine Ban Virginia officials respond as prosecutors refuse to enforce new gun and magazine ban laws. Multiple Commonwealth's Attorneys and sheriffs across Virginia have publicly stated they will not enforce new laws banning the sale, manufacture, transfer of assault firearms and magazines over 15 rounds, plus a public carry prohibition on assault firearms, citing unconstitutionality. The measures take effect July 1. AG Jay Jones and a spokesperson for Governor Spanberger issued statements urging enforcement, emphasizing the laws were passed by the General Assembly to reduce gun violence. BEARINGARMS.COM(Savage) The Left Seems to Be Waking Up to Racist Gun Control Laws – Bearing Arms (Tom Knighton, May 26, 2026) Exploring racial bias in gun control laws and the ongoing fight for equal Second Amendment rights. This Bearing Arms opinion column discusses a Slate article by Aymann Ismail detailing his multi-year struggle to obtain a Firearm Purchaser Identification in New Jersey due to discretionary permitting practices by the Newark Police Department. The piece highlights historical racist motivations behind many early U.S. gun control measures (targeting non-whites and Catholics) and draws a through-line to modern subjective permitting systems that produce racial disparities in approval rates. It references the 1868 Camilla Massacre in Georgia as the origin of a now-invalidated ‘public gathering' carry prohibition and argues that the Supreme Court's Bruen decision properly eliminated such discretionary laws prone to abuse. GUNS.COM(Savage) Firearm Freedom Act (H.R. by Rep. Jimmy Patronis, R-FL) to Repeal Hughes Amendment The Firearm Freedom Act would eliminate the legacy Hughes Amendment that bars the purchase, ownership, and transfer of newly manufactured machine guns made after 1986. The Firearm Freedom Act, introduced by Republican Rep. Jimmy Patronis of Florida in May 2026, seeks to repeal the Hughes Amendment to the Firearm Owners' Protection Act of 1986. The Hughes Amendment prohibits the purchase, ownership, and transfer of newly manufactured machine guns made after 1986. The bill is endorsed by Gun Owners of America; no cosponsors, passage status, or court cases are mentioned in the source article. PEW REPORT GOA and GOF File Lawsuit Challenging Virginia SB749 Assault Weapons Ban and SB727 Public Carry Ban Gun Owners of America (GOA), Gun Owners Foundation (GOF), Virginia Citizens Defense League (VCDL), and 2A journalist John Crump filed suit against Virginia SB749 and SB727. The bills criminalize purchase and transfer of commonly-owned firearms and standard-capacity magazines while restricting public carry/self-defense; both take effect July 1. The complaint seeks declaratory judgment and injunction, arguing the measures violate the Second Amendment and Article I, Section 13 of the Virginia Constitution. Is the bond market really warning of a U.S. debt crisis — or are investors misreading a distorted market signal? Michael Green, Chief Strategist and Portfolio Manager at Simplify Asset Management, joins Maggie Lake to explain why passive investing, regulation, and hidden leverage may be warping the way markets price risk. He argues that what many see as a collapse warning in long-term bonds may actually be a mechanical consequence of how capital is being allocated. Green also breaks down why investors may be ignoring one of the clearest retirement opportunities in years, why liquidity is weakening beneath mega-cap stocks, and why he believes the “real craziness” in markets may still be ahead.
Episode 994 of The Professional Left takes a hard look at the war on memory — the long, grinding campaign to erase what actually happened to this country and replace it with a comfortable myth that lets the people who caused the damage off the hook. A fascinating breakfast conversation between a writer and ten of his late father's Trump-voting friends provides the jumping-off point, raising a question that cuts right to the heart of everything: where exactly are these voters getting their opinions about Democrats, and has any of them ever actually listened to one? Driftglass and Blue Gal dig into the epidemic of recycled lies that keeps millions of Americans firmly convinced that Both Sides are equally to blame, no matter how much evidence piles up to the contrary. And with episode 1000 just around the corner, this one serves as a sharp reminder of why remembering clearly and accurately — and saying so out loud — is one of the most radical acts left in American politics.Links for this episode: Open Letters by Mersault – https://patricemersault.substack.com/Driftglass's guest appearances this week:Bob Cesca Show (May 20, 2026): https://www.bobcesca.com/the-bob-cesca-interview-driftglass-day-5-20-26/Nicole Sandler Show (May 20, 2026): https://nicolesandler.com/5-20-26/BradCast (May 21, 2026): https://bradblog.com/?p=16941Stay in Touch! Full Text of Readings Sixth Sunday of Easter Lectionary: 55 The Saint of the day is Saint Damien de Veuster of Moloka'i Saint Damien de Veuster of Moloka'i's Story When Joseph de Veuster was born in Tremelo, Belgium, in 1840, few people in Europe had any firsthand knowledge of leprosy, Hansen's disease. By the time he died at the age of 49, people all over the world knew about this disease because of him. They knew that human compassion could soften the ravages of this disease. Forced to quit school at age 13 to work on the family farm, Joseph entered the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary six years later, taking the name of a fourth-century physician and martyr. When his brother Pamphile, a priest in the same congregation, fell ill and was unable to go to the Hawaiian Islands as assigned, Damien quickly volunteered in his place. In May 1864, two months after arriving in his new mission, Damien was ordained a priest in Honolulu and assigned to the island of Hawaii. In 1873, he went to the Hawaiian government's leper colony on the island of Moloka'i, set up seven years earlier. Part of a team of four chaplains taking that assignment for three months each year, Damien soon volunteered to remain permanently, caring for the people's physical, medical, and spiritual needs. In time, he became their most effective advocate to obtain promised government support. Soon the settlement had new houses and a new church, school and orphanage. Morale improved considerably. A few years later, he succeeded in getting the Franciscan Sisters of Syracuse, led by Mother Marianne Cope, to help staff this colony in Kalaupapa. Saint Damien contracted Hansen's disease and died of its complications. As requested, he was buried in Kalaupapa, but in 1936 the Belgian government succeeded in having his body moved to Belgium. Part of Damien's body was returned to his beloved Hawaiian brothers and sisters after his beatification in 1995. When Hawaii became a state in 1959, it selected Damien of Moloka'i as one of its two representatives in the Statuary Hall at the US Capitol. Damien was canonized by Pope Benedict XVI on October 11, 2009. Reflection Some people thought Saint Damien was a hero for going to Moloka'i and others thought he was crazy. When a Protestant clergyman wrote that Damien was guilty of immoral behavior, Robert Louis Stevenson vigorously defended him in an “Open Letter to Dr. Hyde.”Saint of the Day, Copyright Franciscan Media

In 1945, the end of the second world war was approaching, atom bombs were on the way, and science fiction felt more like speculative prophecies than adventure stories. In the pages of pulp magazine, claims that ancient civilizations lived beneath the surface of the earth, armed with forgotten technologies, and mutated into something monstrous and cruel. To some, it was pulp fantasy. To others, a terrifying revelation. Blurring the line between imagination and belief, the Shaver Mystery presented a surreal reality that was anything but ordinary. Dearest esteemed leadership of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. We respectfully and fervently request the honor of serving as presenters for the Lead Actress category during the primetime telecast of the 2027 Emmy Awards: roles for which we have physically, cosmetically, and emotionally been preparing for our entire lives. Given the extraordinary performances from Lisa Kudrow in The Comeback and Jean Smart in Hacks, we can scarcely imagine a greater privilege than to stand at that glistening podium, maintain impeccable posture, and display our genetically-natural beauty and elegance without incident or visible flop sweat. We hereby earnestly and unapologetically plead that you include us in the live primetime ceremony, as we would approach this responsibility with reverence and solemnity, and nary a whiff of our typically-bawdy senses of humor. With deepest admiration for the Academy and operatic hope for your favorable consideration, we remain faithfully yours, Trixie Mattel and Katya Zamo; already practicing our teleprompter-reading and envelope-opening skills in preparation for your call.
