As usual on my hyperkinetic podcast, this episode contains a little of my fave subjects, but to detail on this: Talk on Josh T. Pearson, music maestro extraordinaire. My beloved daughter-cat Blixa recently died. Here are some thoughts on that. She will live on forever in my heart. Music from Esma Redzepova, thoughts on "Tito Gypsy pop". The US is exiting the UN Human Rights Council, here are my plethoric and apoplectic thoughts on that. Jon Hopkins released a brilliant album, so here's a cut from it. Also, don't miss out on his Song Exploder episode which was truly enlightening: http://songexploder.net/jon-hopkins Black metal time! Finally Immortal are releasing a new album as a duo (albeit with magnificent producer/bass player Peter Tägtgren)! Here's their new single. A book review: Naomi Klein's "Puerto Rico"; read it! Swedish duo Junior Brielle are played. Wondrous. I end the episode with Josh T. Pearson's lovelorn and lovely "A Love Song (Set Me Straight)". It's great.
This episode is all about books I've read lately: * David Barnett's "Suede: The Authorised Biography" * Brett Anderson reading a snippet from his new autobiography "Coal Black Mornings" * Francisco Cantú's “The Line Becomes A River” * Erica Garza's “Getting Off: One Woman’s Journey Through Sex and Porn Addiction” * Bill Minutaglio and Steven L. Davis's “The Most Dangerous Man in America: Timothy Leary, Richard Nixon and the Hunt for the Fugitive King of LSD” * Megan Condis's “Gaming Masculinity: Trolls, Fake Geeks, and the Gendered Battle for Online Culture” ...and a finishing off by William S. Burroughs who reads one of his own short stories, "Spare Ass Annie".
