Hey Wild Spirit! Look at us! Would you just look at us?! We're out here surviving and thriving in 2021. We've (almost) made it through January and are preparing for Month Two, which for many people will be Month One because, seriously January, what the heck was that?! Known for being the shortest month of the year, February, is also Black History month AND the month where stores stock their shelves with overpriced candies (that will be half price on 2/15, yay!) and obnoxiously oversized stuffed animals. Regardless of how you feel about Valentine's Day, the inundation of heart themed paraphernalia can make one reflect on their own love life. So how are things looking in the love department these days? Love life feeling real 2020 ish, eh?! You're not by yourself. Many people still struggle with navigating matters of the heart, whether single or partnered. While everyone's situation is unique, one thing that impacts all our love lives is our attachment style. Want to find out how and more importantly, why? Pour you a glass of wine, hop on the couch and let's get into this juice! Have you ever felt like you don't belong or felt unqualified or that you're somehow not the best person to speak on certain topics, even if it in your area of expertise or interest? Welp! We did it! We made it! We (barely) survived 2020. We may be bruised, scarred and the debris may have yet to settle but here we are, present for a new year to reclaim our happiness, our power, and manifest an amazing year. Let's face it, the coming of a new year does not automatically mean that we won't have to deal with the things we've experienced in 2020. While this may be the case, there is something symbolic about a year ending that affords us a sense of hope. We could all use a little hope right? So, let's start there. Welcome to the very first episode of the year, Wild Spirit! Whether your outcome was triumphant or tragical, it is important to start the year off on the right foot, yeah? In this episode I will be sharing a few considerations for manifesting a good year. No! A GREAT year! I reference one of my favorite reads “The Four Agreements”. I also close today's episode with a dynamic and affirming declaration which includes a few excerpts from another one of my favorites “Ancestral Prayers”. You may want to refer back to it from time to time. Here's to moving and elevating further and faster. Here's to a new day, a new year and yet another chance to ascend higher and rise to our greatness. Here's to a year of prosperity and healing. I am hopeful and I am grateful that you've made it this far and have chosen to share your space with me. Now let's hop on the couch and get into this JUICE! Questions or Comments about today's show? And many years from now we will refer to 2020 as “The Year We Don't Speak Of”. Is Christmas really next week? With everything we've endured, it feels surreal but here we are, 2 weeks shy of 2021. With eyes ahead and intentions set towards manifesting more happiness and less B.S. let's not forget, Wild Spirit, we're not in the clear just yet- we still have to wrap up the holiday season, thus the struggle is yet over. In the last episode of 2020, Juice has decided to slide a few mental love notes in your stockings. Want to know the best part? You don't have to wait until Christmas morning to receive them! It's no question that we all deserve loving and supportive relationships. Unfortunately, certain relationships in our lives don't always cater to this experience, particularly our relationships with energy vampires. Energy vampires are described as people who "suck the positivity and peacefulness right out of you". These relationships are very draining both physically and emotionally. Today we'll be talking about 4 of the many types of energy vampires: -The narcissist, The Victim, The Drama People and the Passive-Aggressive Communicators. With it being national Mental Health Awareness Month I wanted to talk about something I think we typically sweep under the rug. The mental health of our friends. It can be difficult to recognize when our friends are struggling mentally for many reasons. As adults we don't often see our friends regularly to notice changes in them, sometimes we don't want to offend them so we choose to say nothing and many times our friends don't ever mention (or realize) that they're struggling. So today I'm unpacking a few symptoms and behaviors your friend could display that may warrant a closer look into their mental health. I'm also sharing a few ways you can support them during their difficult time. It's perfectly okay to have these kind of conversations and I hope that today's episode leaves you feeling empowered enough to recognize and support your friend who is struggling. If you or someone else you know is having a hard time, it's okay to reach out for support. You are not alone in this. Help is available. 1800-273-8255. Be well, family. Is it just me or is this year going by painfully slow AND fast at the same time? I mean, where did April go? It's already May and you know what that means? Absolutely nothing--- depending on who you ask. However for many, May is the month where we celebrate mothers and the mother figures in our lives. So with today being the start of May, I wanted to discuss a topic that affects many mothers and that's depression, more specifically, post partum depression (PPD). Today, I sit down with my sister Shatoyia Stovall, a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) who knows first hand how depression can impact motherhood.
