Happy legalization Canada!!!...or is it?? I'm joined this week by the host of "WTF! Emily" Emily Ripley and new friend Noah. We discuss the hot button topic that's on everyone's mind right now. WEED!. It would seem that everyone is in favor for this bold new move from our government but could there be an alternative motive behind it? We share our opinions on what's currently scaring us and how we can move forward positively. We would love to hear your thoughts on the matter. Welcome back everyone! First things first, This episode will be a little different then the past few. With full respect for my guest and appreciation for her being here, It was asked that we keep this episode "G" - "PG" rated. Wasn't easy but this one is 100% safe to listen to with the family. The intro and outro to this weeks episode has also been replaced with an original, unreleased track performed LIVE in studio entitled "Meant for me". We end the show with a beautiful cover of GnR's "Sweet Child O'Mine". Most wouldn't believe it but my style preference for music swings wildly. I can get down with intense metal like Carbomb, Antigama, Red Chord, etc. But then swings the pendulum of emotions and sometimes the beast needs to sleep. There is nothing better then a slow, soulful jazz riff. A deep base with soft trumpets set to the beat of a simple hi-hat. The beast purrs. My guest this week is well known across Canada and has been awarded with many honors. Shes been heard on CBC and is currently in circulation on many Canadian radio stations. She performs constantly around Calgary with a personality and face you can't miss. Please enjoy... KATE STEVENS!!! @katestevensmusic
Its been a while but we are back and better then ever! This time i'm joined by my homie Twizzie Ramos. If you need proof, check out his most recent release "Flowtaku" Vol. 1-2. Masterful lyrics, old school vibes mixed with summer banger's, 100% unique style. This is just the beginning. Watch out Canada, your hip-hop scene is about to be terraformed. Huge Thank You to Twizzie! @twizzie_ramos Podcast Recommendation: Verbal Violence "comedy roast battle show hosted by Brian Moses and Coach T" Shout out: Zhe the Free @zhethefree Rubix @rubixhiphop Ruby Ibarra @rubyibarra
*Listener Discretion is Advised* Welcome back to Part 2 of this crazy ass conversation. We begin with my story of finding a dead body in the parking lot at work. If you are squeamish and do not care for graphic stories then please skip ahead about 15min. We transition into slightly lighter topics when we discuss in detail just how Emily and Cam got ripped off by a local producer. We talk tattoos and I then share my story of also being ripped off during my apprenticeship. Aside from the dead guy, I share a lot more stories in our new segment "Porn-Stories" including one about a guy smoking crack in the store. Trust me, there is no shortage of story's when it comes to working in a porn store. #Pornstories !!Podcast Review!! We began the series strong and with some pretty in depth interviews but this time we let loose and have fun with a few friends of the studio. I'm joined by local superstar Emily Ripley and close friend/artist/collaborators Cam (How Sentimental). Its my first time meeting "How Sentimental" and my first time really getting to know Emily. Both ended up being great guests and great hangs. We enjoy some "Hey Ya'll" hard icetea (recommended by our guests) and start the show with an explanation into a song Cam had done involving a terrible relationship he just went through. Discuss Emily's physically abusive relationship. On a lighter note, I learn about Broken City's "Rock'n For Dollars", and many new stories in a new segment im calling "Porn-Stories" including one about a women who shit on our floor. Welcome Back! We are joined this week by Visha Loo AND last minute addition Rolando Ferreira!! I've been dying to have Visha on since the creation of this show. You may remember her being mentioned in past episodes as I told story's about events she has put on. Now we get to learn all about them first hand. My personal favorite was the LUBE LUCHA parody wrestling. Rolando Ferreira. If you follow Visha Loo already you may have notice this figure lurking around, often dressed in latex (created by Visha). Who is he? Well..all great cult leaders need a right hand and a hammer. Roli is the mussel, the mouth, and half of all that is Visha. weather that's promotional advertising, marketing, set building...he is there hand and hand. We start this weeks episode with a brief announcement including my own personal name change. We then learn about what my guests have been up to in the world of Horror Burlesque and latex seamstress. Find out about Roli's most recent event AYAMARCA - FESTIVAL OF THE DEAD. The topic gets shifted to a subject that's been eating me alive for so long now...how the HELL does anyone think the movie Hereditary is any good. I'm a huge horror movie fan and this is NOT a horror movie. Prove me wrong. Where's the scares? We end the show with another topic that I have been wanting to have since the story first came out however, I haven't been in the right company to enjoy such a subject. The hilarious and tragic suicide of Richard Russel. Richard, 29, stole a plain from his work with intentions of ending his life but before he did so he gave us some of the best audio and video of his final moments and in turn (in my opinion) immortalized himself forever. I would give a "Listener Advisory" warning but if you made it this far then your probably pretty cool. What's a better way to represent the mental health scene then witnessing a panic/anxiety attack first hand. I get star struck at the top of the show and WIFF HARD. After a deep breath and introducing my very warming guest I was able to re-center myself and ended up with one hell of a episode. My guest this week‼️ Maria Joaquin ‼️ Maria Joaquin is the lead singer and other half of the post-punk electro dark wave group Stravngers @strvngersband - Pronounced "Strangers" We discuss Strvngers in the beginning and shift hard into Maria himself. I was hooked during the story of his fathers immigration from El Salvador. I learn a new way to mentally approach tough situations and ultimately had a blast!! Also check out Maria's IG page for incredible charcoal art. Shout out KC @kylecrvig who couldn't be here this time. Much respect though for taking care of his own physical and mental health Strvngers will be performing at Infest UK @infestfestival for the 20th anniversary Aug 23-26 in West Yorkshire, UK ---Shout Out PodReview--- This week Maria turned us on to the literature of Alan Watts and I am very thankful for that but he also introduced me to "Stuff to blow your mind" Podcast https://www.stufftoblowyourmind.com/podcasts ...it's truely mindblowing! What's up everyone! I am very excited to share with you a project that has been near and dear to me for a while now. In spite of traditional therapy I have decided to seek guidance from my peers and others in my pursuit of happiness. As someone who suffers with deep depression, anxiety, panic attacks, minor OCD and other odd phobias...this should get interesting! In the beginning the show was going to be 3 things. The first being a weed podcast. A way to explain and demonstrate cannabis methods of use, growth, and educational material for those new to the "soon to be" legal scene. It was then going to be a show about mental health and ways to cope along with methods of maintaining happiness. And finally it was going to be a podcast review show.... What we got was a show that picks the brains of interesting guests and how they personally deal with mental stress, depression, anxiety, etc. We try and keep it light but inevitably it can get dark. In the end we discuss our favorite podcasts and shout out those who provide us with hours of, FREE, entertainment. This episode I shoot the shit with my close friend Firozeh Habibi. We focus mainly on her father and her upbringing being a child born in Turkmenistan, fleeing to Russian/Afghanistan and eventually moving to Canada just after 9/11. Her father, being a surgeon back home, now suffers from hardcore PTSD and Alcoholism. This leaves my young guest trying to figure out who she is and clings to "love" where ever she can get it. If your like me and suffer with mental illness then this show is for you. Watch me as I grow and shake away my anxiety, fear of being around people, trusting people, deep seeded depression, all with the help of YOU and my guests...and maybe a little extra medical help. SHOUT OUT: Hot Ones web series Personal favorite of my guest @psychedelic_yahweh "Frozen" https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLAzrgbu8gEMIIK3r4Se1dOZWSZzUSadfZ/ No ones alone and if you or someone you know is also suffering please reach out for help.
