Sisters related by blood, but remain committed in expanding our bonds with one another. As we each grow into the beings we each carry within us we share our challenges, successes, and reflections with the world. As U.S. born daughters of immigrant parents we are trying to navigate this reality while reconnecting with what speaks to each of us. Come listen to our heart centered conversations, hear our joy, and witness our struggles as we attempt to decolonize much of what we learned living in America.
Dezaray Nila; Jessica Careoline Nila, Angelica Hermalinda Nila
Dez shares her experience navigating the VA healthcare system when it came to getting mental health support. It brought up a host of old and new wounds for her, but Jessica and Angelica come together to share our struggles in healing our hearts while calming our minds.
We start off by acknowledging the events that happened at the capital. At minute 6:45 we begin to address why we are talking about food. It was spurred upon Dezs' recent health visit. It brought up a lot of feelings for each of us like foods we ate out of necessity, foods that were prized like lunchables, gushers, fruit roll ups, and the marketing that takes place. It's all a bit much, but we are trying to find our inner peace with food, mind, and body. Special shout for our mother cooking up some delicious meals during these times.
