    Workplace Culture and Death (Literally)

If I told you the average US Adult spends 1/2 of their lives working, would you believe me? In a world that stresses the importance of a stable home life and feeling safe at home, it's strange that the issue with workplace culture is so quiet.  This topic has been trending since 2015, and likely even before this time too. It's the MOST important because relying on a home unit or family to cheer you up from a job you dread causes strain on the home life too - even if indirectly.  Business Insider Article: https://www.businessinsider.com/disturbing-facts-about-your-job-2011-2#and-the-majority-of-americans-dont-even-use-all-of-their-vacation-days-there-were-705-million-unused-days-off-last-year-nationwide-15 Book Reference: Studying Society "Sociology at Work" (third edition) by Ellis and Embry-Saunders

    What Not To Do

Hey Savvytier, thank you for coming back for yet ANOTHER savvy episode on communication in the workplace. Today is a tiny-bit of a rant but It's so important for me to talk about because so many of us are inconsistent or lost in the online world.  Today's story features my experience in engagement groups for audience growth and the common thread of those that just don't get it. There's been a tremendous amount of focus on quantity instead of quality. I would LOVE to have 10k followers so that I can do those really cool "swipe up features on Instagram, but that's just not where I'm at......yet. Why?  Because I try really hard not to bombard my friends and family with my audience growth. I have roughly 300 friends and family members on my account - leaving the other 400 being people that genuinely want to talk with me or indulge in my online presence. This is slow, organic growth and it matters.  On top of the social online aspect, I work incredibly hard on tapping into various communities in the real world. That's how I have an estimated reach of 75k with only 700 followers on my personal Instagram and less than 100 for my NEW Savvy Descant page.  My 4 tips for this episode:1. Tap into your communities2. Message 5/day3. Comment 5/day4. Reconnect 1/day Tune in to hear more!  For inquiries:savvytier@savvydescant.comwww.savvydescant.comFacebook @savvydescantInstagram @savvydescant or @mrs.ashleymrodriguez Don't forget about the Savvy Descant Student-led Internship!

Welcome back to Episode 4 : Shatter Your Mindset Get over the feeling of defeat and take control of your existence with this practical approach to facing difficulty. We are incredibly intelligent creatures with the ability to share thoughts, conquer, and thrive. You are not weak. We start off as children, empty - no life experience. As we grow we continue to collect the pieces of us (thoughts, lessons, mindsets, beliefs) and put them together in a way that fits. You see, it is in difficulty and hardship, memories and good experiences, that we slowly build our picture. We aren't "whole" until we have taken our last physical breath here on Earth.Get rid of the mindset that you are "whole" as a child or young person. You are empty, looking to become whole. It'll change your life. My current read:"Made to Stick" by Chip Heath & Dan HeathPublisher: Penguin Random House LLC www.savvydescant.comsavvytier@savvydescant.com
