Why It's Important to Get In the Room

Have you ever looked at an opportunity and thought:Maybe someday.Maybe when you have more money. Maybe when your schedule settles down. Maybe when you know someone there. Maybe when you're more qualified. Maybe when you're finally ready.CarrieVee wants you to stop waiting. In this episode of Coffee & Tea with CarrieVee, Carrie shares the story of walking into her very first International Maxwell Conference completely alone. She didn't know anyone. She wasn't sure exactly what to expect. She didn't have guarantees that the experience would be worth the time, money, or effort. But she knew one thing:She needed to be in that room. And being in that room changed the trajectory of her life. This episode is about the power of your environment, the people you surround yourself with, and the rooms you choose to enter.Because sometimes the thing standing between you and your next level isn't a lack of ability. It's that you're standing in the wrong room.In This Episode, CarrieVee Talks About:Your environment is your destiny. The people around you influence your thinking, your expectations, your goals, and ultimately your behavior. Carrie challenges listeners to examine the five people they spend the most time with—and asks whether those people are helping them move forward or keeping them comfortable. Stop waiting for the perfect time. The perfect time doesn't exist. There will always be a reason to wait: money, timing, family, work, uncertainty, fear.Carrie shares how her parents taught her an important lesson growing up: if something mattered enough, they found a way to make it happen. That mindset has stayed with her. Get in the room—even when you're uncomfortable.Your room might be a conference, mastermind, workshop, networking group, community, retreat, or gathering of people pursuing the same things you are.And you don't have to know anyone before you go.You just have to show up.Carrie explains that she continues attending the International Maxwell Conference even when she's heard some of the content before because the value isn't only in what she learns. It's in who she's surrounded by. Stop complaining and start growing.Complaining is comfortable. Growth isn't.Carrie challenges listeners to pay attention to their language. Are you spending more time talking about what's wrong—or talking about what's possible? Are you looking for solutions or collecting evidence for why something can't work?Book a Discovery Call with CarrieVee:https://schedulewithcarrievee.as.me/?appointmentType=12343596 Book CarrieVee for a Speaking Engagement: https://www.coachcarriev.com/contact-me Connect with CarrieVee:www.carrievee.comcarriev@coachcarriev.comIG: @iamcarrievee TT: @carrievee2022FB: Carrie VerrocchioLI: Carrie Verrocchio   Episode's Publish Date:2026-08-11T04:00:00-04:00

A screenshot of old book titles turns into a surprising question: how much do we actually change, and how much do we just repeat what we already love? We follow that thread into “P Is For Patterns” and use it to decode why certain places instantly feel like home to us and why others don't, even when they're objectively beautiful. If you've ever wondered why you keep booking the same kind of trip or craving the same kind of neighborhood, this one gives you a fresh way to see your travel style.Thank you to the New Mexico Department of Agriculture and Cases Customs for supporting this episode! What happens when you stop outsourcing your health and start learning how to think for yourself? In this powerful conversation, Dr. Stephanie Rimka challenges the way we've been taught to approach health, healing, and even our own bodies. We dive into medical gaslighting, health sovereignty, nervous system regulation, autism spectrum, biohacking, and why the right intervention at the wrong time can sometimes do more harm than good. We also explore the deeper biology of safety, femininity, intimacy, relationships, and what it takes to reconnect with yourself after years of overriding your own signals. Dr. Rimka offers a radically different perspective on health: one that asks us to stop blindly following protocols, understand our own physiology, and learn how to think rather than simply being told what to do. If you've ever felt dismissed by the medical system, disconnected from your body, stuck in survival mode, or overwhelmed by conflicting health advice, this conversation will challenge you to rethink what it really means to take your health back.Dr. Stephanie Rimka is a clinician, educator, and speaker specializing in mitochondrial function, nervous system regulation, and the biological foundations of brain health, mental health, and human performance. With nearly three decades of clinical experience working with conditions such as ADHD, autism, anxiety, depression, and complex neurodevelopmental challenges, her work focuses on helping practitioners and audiences understand why conventional protocols often fail and how to think in systems rather than isolated interventions. She is a founding faculty member of Peptide University, where she teaches clinicians worldwide how to apply advanced therapies through the lens of mitochondrial physiology, signaling, and clinical sequencing. Her approach integrates bioenergetics, trauma physiology, and metabolic health to create a more precise and effective model for restoring energy, cognitive function, and emotional resilience.Dr. Rimka is also the author of Receive: The Dance of Feminine Power, and the creator of multiple educational programs exploring the intersection of biology, identity, and human potential. Her work challenges reductionist approaches to health and emphasizes the importance of sequence, structure, and system-wide coherence, particularly in the treatment of chronic mental health and neurodevelopmental conditions.SHOW NOTES:0:38 Welcome to the show!2:33 About Dr. Stephanie Rimka3:21 Welcome to the podcast!4:01 How she defines health5:28 How we lose our sovereignty10:26 Medical gaslighting12:45 Renee's story16:20 Learning how to think18:35 Nervous system & decision-making20:53 The problem with biohacking25:30 Burning man28:13 Parenting children with autism spectrum disorder33:14 Restoring intimacy & sex37:56 Balancing masculine & feminine in relationships39:58 Strategies to decrease dissociation & increase creativity46:45 Bioenergetics & nature somatics51:49 Permission to be lazy56:47 Brain wave support1:00:49 When to use biohacking tech1:06:30 Creating a healthier home1:11:15 Beauty is safety1:13:05 Botox issues1:20:20 How she learned to think1:22:43 How to find her1:31:30 Thanks for tuning in!RESOURCES:Website: www.drrimka.comIG: @dr_rimkaLinkedIn: @drstephanierimkaSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/biohacker-babes-podcast/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands

It ain't all doom and gloom on this podcast. Are we pulling the wool over our eyes when we talk about Philly DOMINANCE in sports recently? We don't think so. On Hoagie Mouth, we get into the nitty, and the GRITTY, of Philly professional sports. This week - as we rocket right past episode 200 - we cover the latest on the (frankly confounding) Phillies as the trade deadline recedes into the rear view mirror. We get Arraez (go ahead, give it your best pronunciation) and a couple of bullpen pieces - but does that do the trick? We are 1-1 with our new 2nd baseman, but he sure seems fired up to be here. Time to focus on the rest of the billion dollar bats on this team! Gotta score, bub.Next we tackle the non-tackling times in Eagles training camp. Yo, we are like 9 days away from the first preseason game! So that means it's time to focus on who gets the googly eyes going in to the new football season. Is it the offense, the defense, QB1? All that and then some, Jalen is tall, dark and handsome.Email: hoagiemouthpod@gmail.comIG: @hoagiemouthpod

A conversation on deep listening, dukkha, vulnerability, acceptance, and using relationship as spiritual practice. In this episode of The Midlife Spirituality Project, I'm joined by Devon Hase, co-author of This Messy, Gorgeous Love: A Buddhist Guide to Lasting Partnership. This conversation explores what Buddhist wisdom can teach us about love, marriage, conflict, and the very human messiness of being in close relationship with another person. Devon shares why difficulty in partnership does not mean something is wrong, how the Buddhist concept of dukkha can help us normalize the “bumpy ride” of love, and why our closest relationships often become some of our greatest opportunities for spiritual growth. We also talk about deep listening — to ourselves, to our partner, and to the relationship itself — and how this practice can help us move from projection and criticism toward curiosity, compassion, and connection.Devon and I also discuss vulnerability, codependency, attachment, the middle way, accepting our partners as they are while still honoring our own needs, and the importance of deliberately practicing joy and appreciation in long-term relationships. In This Episode, We Talk AboutWhy relationships can feel especially complicated in midlifeThe Buddhist concept of dukkha and why love can feel like a “bumpy ride”Deep listening as a practice for ourselves, our partners, and the relationshipHow meditation helps us see our projections more clearlyRelationship as a path of spiritual growthAccepting your partner while still naming your needsCodependency, attachment, autonomy, and connectionThe Buddhist “middle way” in partnershipVulnerability, boundaries, and “having no skin” with the people closest to usPracticing joy, appreciation, and tech-free connectionConnect With Devon & Nicowww.devonandnicohase.comIG: @devonandnicohase.comBuy The Book: This Messy, Gorgeous LoveAbout Katie FarinasKatie Farinas is a midlife coach, yoga teacher, and spiritual guide who helps women navigate midlife with clarity, peace, purpose, and empowerment. Or is he NOT one of the "dudes" on the team? Do we have an all-time defense? We just might. First preseason game is in 2 weeks, if you can frickin believe it. GO BIRDS.And lastly (because, um, they are playing like it), the reeling Phils as they look to solve, like, all sorts of holes in the hull at the same time. Will the bullpen meltdown this game? CHECK. Did we score 17 runs one game and then no more than 2 for the next five games? YOU BETCHA. Are we STILL talking about getting Byron Buxton for all of our farm prospects? HELLS YES. Time to get hot in August, Phils....or else we might be on the outside looking in. Insane to think that's the path, when we were riding so high at the ASG.Here's to 2000 more shows! Send us Fan MailHustle culture tells you to grind harder, but your soul seems to be asking for something else. We're talking about biblical rest as more than sleep, more than “self-care,” and definitely more than laziness. I'm joined by  Mrs.Darius Thompson, founder of Ruth Marie Co, a faith-rooted business offering Christian coaching, guided journals, and devotional tools for women walking through growth, grief, and transition, and she brings a powerful framework for understanding what God is actually inviting us into.We break down three kinds of rest found in Scripture: physical Sabbath rest (the command to cease), spiritual rest for the weary soul (Jesus' invitation in Matthew 11), and the eternal rest we enter because of Christ's finished work. From the Israelites and manna to the warning signs of burnout, we keep coming back to one idea: rest is dependence. If you've ever felt like slowing down means you're falling behind, we name how that mindset can become self-sufficiency, striving, and even a hidden idol of control.Take a listen and  after this conversation helps you breathe again, subscribe, share it with a friend who's burned out, and leave a review so more survivors can find real rest! Please check the show notes  below for Darius's blog , media platforms and website info!About our guest : Mrs . What happens when someone who has experienced organized crime, homelessness, addiction, professional success, and complete emptiness encounters the transforming power of Jesus? In this week's episode of the Anchored by the Sword Podcast, I sit down with JT Tapias, coach, speaker, and founder of the Empty Bucket Nutrition Plan. JT shares how he grew up in a third-generation Colombian mafia family, spent over a year homeless on the streets of New York as a teenager, fulfilled his dream of playing professional soccer in Europe and Mexico, built a thriving seven-figure fitness business, and still found himself battling addiction, depression, and suicidal thoughts. Then everything changed. One invitation to church became the turning point that completely transformed his life. Today, JT is passionate about helping others experience not only physical transformation but spiritual renewal by viewing health through the lens of biblical stewardship. In this conversation, we discuss:JT's incredible testimony of God's redemptionHow Jesus rescued him from addiction and hopelessnessWhy worldly success never fills the emptiness only Christ can satisfyThe biblical foundation for caring for our bodies as temples of the Holy SpiritWhy lasting health begins with renewing our minds (Romans 12:1-2)The connection between trauma, identity, habits, and healingHow food can quietly become an idol without us realizing itThe difference between temporary weight loss and lifelong transformationWhy accountability and community matter in creating lasting changePractical encouragement for anyone struggling with health, motivation, or spiritual disciplinesOne of my favorite reminders from this conversation is that God isn't only interested in saving our souls—He's interested in transforming every area of our lives. Our physical health, emotional health, relationships, finances, and spiritual lives all matter to Him.If you've ever struggled with unhealthy habits, emotional eating, shame, or simply wondering if God can redeem your past, I pray this episode reminds you that no story is beyond His reach.Bio:JT Tapias is a clinical pastoral counselor, nutrition sociologist, and founder of the Empty Your Bucket Nutrition Plan, a high-impact coaching program that has transformed thousands of lives through practical, faith-centered health strategies. With over 24 years in fitness, nutrition, and behavioral change, JT blends biblical wisdom with evidence-based nutrition to help people renew their minds, overcome emotional eating, and steward their bodies as temples. Before today's episode notes, I have a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT:After 4+ years of continuously making and sharing new episodes for you, Reclaiming Consciousness will go through a 90-day pause. As with everything in life, I feel an evolution is needed for the show, and although I have a few ideas on my mind on what the next chapter will look like, I prefer to keep it as a surprise for you until the day comes. Obviously, all the episodes will remain available for you. I'll also be creating playlists on Spotify, organized by topic so you can easily find your favorite content. As always, THANK YOU so much for being there. See you soon!--------------------------------"There's just a lot of facilitator stories where the facilitator's almost chasing catharsis, 'cause that feels good for the ego. They wanna see the screaming and the big cries, and they're chasing it at the expense of the agency of the breather, and that's when it can become re-traumatizing."Today I'm joined by Megan Ashton, founder of Unity Breathwork, and this is a conversation every single person who's ever considered breathwork, or who's already facilitating it, needs to hear. Megan spent almost 20 years chasing healing through holistic nutrition, clinical hypnotherapy, shamanic work, and a genuinely traumatic week with ayahuasca before conscious connected breathing finally did what nothing else could. We get into her own history with alcohol dependency and bulimia, and how breathwork succeeded where so many other modalities failed her, including me, since I went through something strikingly similar myself. But where this episode really goes deep is the safety conversation almost no one in this industry is having out loud. Megan and I talk about the real danger of combining breath holds with connected breathwork (including seizures she's witnessed firsthand), the guru complex some facilitators fall into, why chasing catharsis can actually re-traumatize people, and what "trauma-informed" is supposed to mean versus what it's become. TODAY'S HIGHLIGHTSMegan's 15-year healing quest: nutrition, hypnotherapy, shamanic healing, and a traumatic week with ayahuascaThe Bali breathwork session that finally released decades of grief and ended Megan's eating disorderWhy most addictions are rooted in trauma, not willpowerAlyse's own experience healing an eating disorder through breathworkWhy talk therapy and EMDR hit a ceiling: the case for working bottom-up through the bodyRed flags in facilitators: chasing catharsis, guru energy, forcing the breath, exploiting vulnerable states to sellThe real danger of combining breath holds with connected breathworkWhat "trauma-informed" actually means (and why a 50-hour certification isn't it)How to vet a breathwork facilitator or training program before you commitCONTACT MEGANunitybreathwork.comInstagram unitybreathworkFacebook unitybreathworkTrauma-Informed Breathwork Facilitator TrainingFree Conscious Connected Breathwork JourneyBreathwork Retreats (Sayulita, Mexico)**WAYS TO ENTER MY WORLD**When you leave a review of the podcast on Apple Podcasts and send us a screenshot of it, we'll send you a $250 credit that you can apply to anything else in my world.Join me in The Metamorphosis which is my 3-month, groundbreaking, flagship program to rapidly and efficiently clear the familial and ancestral trauma that is blocking you from experiencing the wealth and freedom that you desire.Starting a business or working with clients? What if the thing holding you back isn't your schedule, your age, or even your circumstances? What if it's a barrier you can't even see? This week on Coffee & Tea with CarrieVee, Carrie welcomes back bestselling author, fitness expert, and midlife coach Heike Yates for another powerful conversation inspired by her book, Pursue Your Spark. Together, they unpack one of the biggest reasons women feel stuck in midlife—not because they lack discipline or motivation, but because invisible barriers quietly shape their decisions without them realizing it.From limiting beliefs and outdated identities to stress, overwhelm, and unhealed emotional wounds, Carrie and Heike explore how the stories we carry can keep us from moving forward—even when we're doing "all the right things."If you've ever felt like you're working hard but not making progress, this episode will help you identify what may really be standing in your way. In This Episode Why mindset is often more important than fitness or nutrition  The invisible barriers that quietly sabotage progress  How old identities can prevent new opportunities  Why doing more isn't always the answer  The connection between stress, cortisol, and physical health  How emotional healing impacts your ability to move forward  Why paying attention is the first step toward lasting change  Learning to replace self-judgment with curiosity  The importance of taking one small step instead of trying to change everything at once  How clarity creates freedom and momentumHelping Midlife Women Move Forward AgainMany midlife women aren't starting from scratch — they're navigating seasons where what once worked no longer fits.I help women move out of the start-over cycle and rebuild strength, energy, and confidence with realistic fitness, nutrition, and mindset strategies that support real life.I know what it feels like to juggle work, motherhood, and identity while wondering if you'll ever feel like yourself again. At one point, I was a single mom raising two kids on $300 a month, working long hours and trying to hold everything together.Fitness became my lifeline — the one thing that helped me feel strong, resilient, and hopeful when life felt heavy.Over the past 35+ years, that lifeline became my mission. I've helped thousands of midlife women move out of the start-over cycle and find an approach that finally works for their body and their life. Here's what I believe:Midlife isn't a decline — it's your turning point. You don't need extremes — just small steps that fit your life. And with the right support, you can feel capable, clear, and strong at any age.If you're ready to stop starting over and finally find an approach that works for your body and your life, you're in the right place.Get Heike's book: https://amzn.to/4tBvoGphttps://heikeyates.com/other episodes with Heike Yates:Midlife Moments With Heike Yates:  https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/coffee-and-tea-with-carrievee/id1514671446?i=1000768689467Pursue Your Spark with Heike Yates:  https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/coffee-and-tea-with-carrievee/id1514671446?i=1000760004906Book a Discovery Call with CarrieVee:https://schedulewithcarrievee.as.me/?appointmentType=12343596Book CarrieVee for a Speaking Engagement:  https://www.coachcarriev.com/contact-meConnect with CarrieVee:www.carrievee.comcarriev@coachcarriev.comIG:  @iamcarrievee TT:  @carrievee2022FB:  Carrie VerrocchioLI:  Carrie Verrocchio

It has been amazing to watch how God has continued to guide her steps, and I couldn't be more excited to welcome her back to the podcast! This time, we're talking about a topic that affects every single one of us—Artificial Intelligence.Misty's newest book, The Trojan Horse of the Digital Age: Why Christians Must Discern AI, challenges believers to think critically about the technology we're using every day. AI isn't going away, so how do we use it wisely while remaining firmly rooted in God's Word?In this conversation we discuss:Misty's unexpected journey from ministry into cybersecurity and AI.Why AI is a powerful tool—but should never replace biblical wisdom. The importance of protecting your personal data and digital footprint. The growing concerns surrounding AI, surveillance, and data collection. How AI is impacting children, education, mental health, and relationships. Why parents need to understand how their children are using AI.Deepfakes, misinformation, and learning to recognize truth in a digital world. The importance of community, discernment, and walking closely with the Holy Spirit.Practical ways Christians can use AI responsibly to save time while continuing to seek God first. One of my favorite reminders from this conversation is that AI can be used for good or for bad—just like many other tools. The key is not fear, but discernment. As technology continues to advance, we must stay anchored in God's Word so we can recognize truth, guard our hearts, and wisely steward the tools He's placed in our hands.Misty reminds us that no artificial intelligence will ever replace the wisdom that comes from the Holy Spirit.Bio:Misty Phillip is a Christ-follower, author, speaker, and advocate for faith-driven discernment in the digital age.As COO of TrilogyWorks, a boutique technology firm specializing in cybersecurity and AI-driven solutions, Misty brings real-world expertise to the conversation about technology and faith. We talk about how the “good times” can become part of the abuse cycle, how intermittent reinforcement keeps people emotionally attached, and why fear can sometimes be mistaken for love when the nervous system is living in survival mode. This conversation is about awareness, safety, and hope. Dr. Christine shares practical ways to begin seeing the truth more clearly, from tracking negative and positive interactions to listening to your body's signals, understanding the power and control wheel, recognizing coercion, and creating a safety plan if you are unsure how to leave. My hope is that this episode reminds you that you are not alone, there is no shame in what you have experienced, and your voice, intuition, freedom, and self-trust can be reclaimed. This episode is an independent conversation and commentary related to themes discussed around Trust Me: The False Prophet and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Netflix.IN THIS EPISODE:(0:00) Why abuse can feel addictive(0:40) Setting up the series(5:40) Hope after leaving control(6:23) How love bombing works(9:09) Sam and spiritual imposters(10:10) Trauma bonds and intermittent reinforcement(12:10) Ducklings and survival attachment(15:00) Why we get stuck(17:40) Stockholm syndrome vs. trauma bonds(20:44) Practical steps to find clarity(26:01) Body signals and walking on eggshells(28:37) Yelling, blame, and reactive abuse(30:29) The narcissism trend conversation(30:55) Psychopath vs. sociopath explained(32:25) The SPECIAL ME checklist(33:21) Jealousy and cult control(34:05) Nice guy red flags(35:45) The mask of sanity in religion(40:38) Red flags, boundaries, and the word no(42:21) Planning to leave safely(46:02) Resources, hotlines, and support(47:48) Protecting yourself with safety tactics(50:55) Signs of coercion defined(52:32) Releasing shame(54:30) Final thanks and wrap-upCONNECT WITH DR. Dr. Christine shares what it was like to be part of the documentary without having creative control, how she built trust with members of the FLDS community through a harm reduction approach, and how the filming unexpectedly became part of a much larger story involving Sam Bateman, survivor courage, and the predator playbook. We also talk about the belief gaps around Warren Jeffs, what it means to create a safe “Switzerland” space for people in and out of high-control religions, and why coercive control laws matter so deeply when protecting victims and children.
