The world may have ended, but the show must go on! Join the host of the only station this side of nowhere, Highway 61, as they bring updates about life after the apocalypse, hear from other survivors in the Dust and fear the world past their abandoned government broadcast station. From the snowy survivors' village of Mount Heim in the east to the sc-fi and strangely self-contained city of New Elysium in the west, everyone is tuning in to Station One-Oh-Nowhere.
Signals are still getting spotty in the Dust, but that won't keep our favorite DJ from calling their favorite cousin to wish her a happy Sweet Sixteen! Sure, Sweet Sixteen celebrations involve canned rations instead of cakes and mutation hunts instead of slumber parties, but it's still a special time in a young girl's life. Hopefully the growing number of disappearing caravans out in the wastes doesn't put a damper on things. If you see one of those missing groups, by the way, make sure you give the station a call. Catch you on the air waves.
Sometimes, your worst fears are confirmed. You find that there really are skeletons in the closet, monsters lurking under the bed, unknown, gluttonous powers building on the horizon, and all you can do… is phone a friend. This week, Colt calls into the station after peeking under the bed and seeing the potential monsters lurking beneath in the form of New Elysium's welcome exterior. REDACTED's leads have provided a light in the most alarming of ways.
Deep in the Dust, our young wanderer is still lost, still alone, and ever more afraid. But sometimes things go bump in the night. And sometimes, you're not as alone out there as you think you are. What creatures hide just out of view in the corner of your eye?
Some phone calls can only happen under the cover of darkness, and a call about how everything you believed about the world potentially being a conspiracy tends to be one of them. After startling discoveries about what's really out there in the Dust, Colt needs a confidant, and there's no one better versed in talking than Highway 61. Now the question is; will Highway and their contact be able to find the missing pieces of the story… or will the question of what happened to May be lost to the Dust?
The CEO has got a message, May is in distress, and there's... a sentient fridge? Sounds like another day in New Elysium!
Time has passed and our young hero, Vanessa Holt- or Colt, as she's coming to be known- is still looking for her mysteriously missing girlfriend who disappeared into the Dust. Now, for the first time in weeks, she has a real lead! That is… if the voice on the other end of the radio can be trusted… what secrets does he hold, right in the palm of his hand?
Green energy is an underutilized resource, and it seems some out here in the Dust feel that more strongly than others. Why else would the normally abandoned hydroelectric plant suddenly be swarming with people? Strange people with clipboards and guns and a purpose in mind. People… D-3 has never seen before. People who just don't seem right. Why are they here?
Money talks, even in the middle of an apocalypse. But that doesn't stop Highway from illegally making their own Lithium X commercials. It's not like the company can retaliate!... Right? New discoveries are made and more questions go unanswered with the Station's surprise guest. Will Highway ever figure out how to run a defunct radio station properly?
Our station's favorite love-lorn survivor Colt- I'm sorry- Holt, is still caravanning through the Dust following whatever clues, tracks, and tips that even whisper a potential sighting of her missing girlfriend, May. But heartbroken or not, you gotta stay on your toes in the desert, otherwise you'll quickly be reminded you're not out there alone.
So there may be a sentient cluster of rats living somewhere deep in the earth planning for an overground uprising some day in the future, but who cares about that!? The Rosie Day called the station!! Take a breath Highway, you can do this. It's just a friendly little chat between friends, because you're friends with Rosie Day, of the Riot Hole, who is just sooooo cool! Well.. you're kind of friends, she certainly doesn't hate you… despite that chimney incident… Whatever! You got this. She just wants to talk about the status of the scouting teams, see if they found anything. You got this! Now, please, pick up the phone.
Do you ever think back and wonder how you got to where you are? The survivors of the Dust do all the time. The end seemed so sudden and out of nowhere… but maybe it wasn't? Maybe it had been coming to us for a long, long time. A collection of news clips and radio interviews paint a picture of what life was like before, and leading up to, the end of the world in this Broadcast of Station One-Oh-Nowhere.
In The Dust, you gotta grab those you care about tight and hold them close, a lesson long time listener and first time caller Holt - or as Highway 61 calls them “Colt” - thought she knew. But with the disappearance of her girlfriend, May, it's a lesson she knows she'll never forget again. If you see Colt's lost love, put a call into Highway 61. And May, wherever you are, stay safe. Catch you on the air waves.
The Dust is far and wide, and Highway 61 isn't the only voice out there hoping that someone will tune in. Our wasteland Wanderer is still out there, putting out slapdash walkie-talkie signals, hoping for any word from her missing bandmates, or at least some advice about how to get out of the strange forest she finds herself in. In a different part of the Dust, D-3 calls in to the team's homebase with an update on how the ongoing expedition for a new food supply is going, and to note the strange presence of some of those people from the West, so far from the walls of their precious city. The Encasa Travel dispatchers will also like to take this opportunity to remind any traveling caravans to call in frequently on their current positions. Up-to-date records are extremely important to us. How else are we to know if something has gone wrong?
Life might be getting hard in New Elysium, but that's nothing compared to life in the Dust. Times are only getting harder, as Highway 61 learns, when they receive some troubling news from one of Sunshine Point's scouts. But hey, it's not all bad out here in the Dust! There's plenty of chances to make some great new friends, even if that great new friend has four legs and a tail. Still, a friend's a friend. So sit back, relax, and tune in to Station One-Oh-Nowhere.
Ahhh, the sun is shining, the birds are chirping, the days municipality divided rations are waiting on the doorstep, it's another beautiful morning in New Elysium! If you hurry you may still be able to catch Evo Terra's CEO's daily municipal update. Maybe we'll finally get some word on how they're handling the city's resources shortages, or what that group over in the south could possibly want. Whatever it is, I'm sure it's gonna be fine! I mean, what ever could go wrong here in New Elysium?
Another day, another standard broadcast from everyone's favorite station this side of nowhere, technical difficulties and mutant raccoons powering treadmills aside. With the addition of a new generator, generously gifted to the station from the people of an abandoned ski resort-turned apocalyptic peak top town named Mount Heim, it looks like things are really starting to look up here at nowhere! Let's just hope they stay that way. If not, guess there's always New Elysium where things seem to be running fine, if not a little tensely, according to their news update. Either way, as long as you're not alone in the dust, you'll be a-okay! Probably.
The world may have ended, but the show must go on! Join Highway 61, host of the only station this side of nowhere, as they bring updates about life in the dead zone they call the Dust, since the apocalypse started 6 years ago. With scorching winter temperatures and a pack of mutant dogs who recently have apparently learned to speak- this is an update you don't wanna miss. Follow us on social media!
