Ein Jahrhundert lang galt der Braunbär in der Schweiz als ausgerottet. Das änderte sich im Sommer 2005. Damals berichteten zunächst Wanderer, sie hätten einen Bären beim Ofenpass gesehen. Am 28. Juli folgte dann der Fotobeweis.

Ein Familienurlaub führte uns nach Kreta. Wir beschlossen, die Samariaschlucht zu durchwandern, ein anstrengendes, aber lohnenswertes Naturerlebnis. Rechts und links der Schlucht ragen die Felswände bis zu 600 m hoch. An besonders engen Stellen besteht die Gefahr, dass von oben Gesteinsbrocken herunterfallen. Davor warnen an diesen exponierten Punkten der rund 17 km langen Schlucht Schilder: Mit den Worten »Great Danger – Walk Quickly«, also »Große Gefahr – geh schnell«, sollen die zahlreichen Besucher auf das bestehende Risiko hingewiesen werden. Ob der Rat, möglichst zügig zu gehen, ein wirksamer Schutz gegen den drohenden Steinschlag ist, sei dahingestellt. Aber die Verantwortlichen für diese Schlucht werden dadurch jedenfalls ihrer Verantwortung gerecht, die Wanderer zu warnen, damit diese sich durch ihr Verhalten auf diese Gefahr einstellen können. Keiner der Besucher kann später sagen: Das habe ich nicht gewusst. Hättet Ihr mich mal gewarnt.Ein wenig wie in jener Schlucht ist es mit diesem Kalender: Jeder Artikel ist wie ein kleines Schild auf dem Lebensweg. Es weist den Leser Tag für Tag, Jahr um Jahr, darauf hin, dass ein Leben ohne Gott »Great Danger«, also große Gefahr bedeutet. Wenn man sich nicht auf diese Gefahr einstellt und reagiert, endet das Leben in einer ewigen Katastrophe. Hier hilft es auch nicht, einfach das Lebenstempo zu beschleunigen. Denn das Leben führt – ob langsam oder schnell gelebt – in jedem Fall zum Tod. Bis dahin muss das Verhältnis mit Gott geklärt sein, man muss umkehren und mit ihm Frieden machen. Das geht, weil Jesus diesen Notausgang für uns eröffnet hat. Keiner soll sagen können: Das habe ich nicht gewusst.
