Who decides which voices survive? It's a question classical singer Gabriella Di Laccio never thought to ask until she found an encyclopedia listing thousands of women composers from across history ... and knew almost none of them. Her journey to rediscover these brilliant musicians revealed how many songs have gone unheard — and sparked a mission to record what's missing before the silence becomes permanent. Hosted on Acast. Susie watched the Boeing documentary, Freefall, which exposes the company's negligence that likely led to many of the recent airplane crashes, malfunctions, and fatalities. We learn about a Titanic-themed slide a family installed on their farm, which infuriated residents who thought it was insensitive. We debate whether making light of the tragedy is inappropriate or people are being overly sensitive. We learn the crazy reason clownfish lose all but one of their stripes as they age. We hear about a man paying a ton of money for a matchmaker, but has been on 40 first dates, and hasn't found Mrs. Right. We think we know why. In the middle of recording Susie receives dozens of texts about Dolly Parton's death, and we eulogize her on the fly. We learn what happens in the brain when we have an "aha moment." And we find out that humans are not the only animals who have pets.00:00 - Personal Updates, Exam Stress, and Comedy Show Mishaps11:27 - Unpacking Boeing's Negligence and Air Travel Anxiety20:29 - Is a Titanic-Themed Slide Insensitive or Harmless Fun?29:15 - Peer Pressure Makes Clownfish Lose Their Stripes34:09 - Why a $25,000 Matchmaker Client Stays Single44:30 - An Emotional Eulogy for Dolly Parton (False Alarm)49:25 - Exploring the Science Behind Our "Aha" Eureka Moments01:00:32 - The Evolutionary Enigma of Animals Keeping Pets01:08:17 - Reflecting on Cultural Grief and Saying FarewellBrain Candy Podcast Website - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/Brain Candy Podcast Book Recommendations - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/books/Brain Candy Podcast Merchandise - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/candy-store/Brain Candy Podcast Candy Club - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/product/candy-club/Brain Candy Podcast Sponsor Codes - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/support-us/Brain Candy Podcast Social Media & Platforms:Brain Candy Podcast LIVE Interactive Trivia Nights - https://www.youtube.com/@BrainCandyPodcast/streamsBrain Candy Podcast Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastHost Susie Meister Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterHost Sarah Rice Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBrain Candy Podcast on X: https://www.x.com/braincandypodBrain Candy Podcast Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/braincandy (JOIN FREE - TONS OF REALITY TV CONTENT)Brain Candy Podcast Sponsors, partnerships, & Products that we love:Head to https://airdoctor.com and use promo code CANDY to get UP TO $300 off today! Send us Fan MailWomen's health is having a moment—but there are still some pretty massive gaps in what actually happens when a woman walks into a doctor's office and says, “Something doesn't feel right.”Enter Amy and Jodi, the women behind Vibe Women's Health Collective.Their story started nearly two decades ago after Amy was diagnosed with breast cancer at 44. Physically, she recovered. Emotionally? Totally different story. Then she met Jodi, a physician assistant who actually saw the part of her that wasn't showing up on a scan or a lab result—and the two of them basically fell in love. Years later, that relationship became Vibe.We get into why medical care and mental health HAVE to talk to each other, the giant gap that exists after cancer treatment ends, health anxiety, menopause, perimenopause, HRT, sexual health, painful sex and why women deserve way more than a rushed 15-minute appointment. And because this is apparently where the conversation wanted to go, we also cover neck lifts, pickleball, husbands trying to understand menopause, whether men need their own support group and why women have got to stop apologizing for making money. This episode is funny, incredibly honest and also a pretty damn important conversation about what it looks like when women see a problem, stop waiting for someone else to fix it and build the thing themselves.Go check out Vibe Women's Health Collective—and if you're in Columbus, you're going to want these women on your radar.Subscribe to The Keri Croft Show on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. And as always, keep moving, baby.

Send us Fan MailIf you've spent thousands of dollars on SIBO testing, antibiotics, herbal antimicrobials, supplements, restrictive diets, and practitioner visits but still aren't getting lasting relief, the problem may not be that you haven't tried hard enough. After more than a decade working with difficult SIBO cases, I've seen how easily digestive care can become fragmented: one test, one protocol, one diet, one supplement, without a larger strategy connecting them. In this episode, we're looking at what can be missing when SIBO treatment provides only temporary improvement, why treatment sequencing matters, and why a positive SIBO test doesn't tell you everything you need to know about the next step. We'll explore:Why repeatedly adding treatments isn't necessarily the answer. How your SIBO type can influence the treatment approach. Why the timing and sequencing of treatment matter. What your previous treatment history can reveal about what may have been missed. Why addressing root contributors matters when you're trying to reduce recurrence. What needs to happen beyond simply clearing an overgrowth. Why rebuilding the gut and expanding your diet can be an important part of the bigger picture. What to ask before spending money on another SIBO test, supplement, or protocol. Resources mentioned:1. At least 1,050 people are dead and nearly 4,000 remain missing after Nepal's floods. A good deal of the search effort is focused on hydropower projects along the river, where authorities believe at least 900 workers are unaccounted for in tunnels in the mountainsides. Anderson speaks to a school bus driver who managed to save dozens of children, by speeding to higher ground as the flood was bearing down. Learn more about your ad choices. 1047. Host Laura Adams cuts through the confusion and explains the basics of Medicare for anyone approaching 65 or helping a relative compare options. You'll learn how parts of Medicare work, which expenses Medicare doesn't cover, how to fill insurance gaps, avoid lifetime penalties, and the truth about costly Medicare myths.Key Takeaways:Medicare Part A covers hospital and inpatient care (premium-free for most), while Part B covers doctor visits and outpatient services for a monthly premium ($202.90 in 2026).Medicare Advantage (Part C) is an all-in-one alternative that bundles Parts A, B, and usually D into a single plan with network restrictions and out-of-pocket caps, often adding basic dental and vision coverage.Original Medicare doesn't cover long-term care such as assisted living or nursing home stays, or routine dental, vision, and hearing care.Medigap protects against out-of-pocket costs, such as deductibles and 20% coinsurance left behind by Original Medicare, but it cannot be combined with Medicare Advantage.Missing your Initial Enrollment Period triggers lifetime penalties unless you have active, creditable employer health coverage. Enrollment isn't automatic unless you already receive Social Security benefits when you turn 65. In the small eastern Ontario town of Smiths Falls, a series of missing men began to fuel widespread rumours, fear, and suspicion about what was happening beneath the surface of the community. For years, families waited for answers while police searched for evidence and residents traded theories about whether the cases were somehow connected. Then, just one month after a large reward was offered for information, the investigation took a dramatic turn. There would be arrests, murder charges, and the discovery of human remains on a remote rural property outside town. But that was only the beginning… As investigators continued searching the land, more bodies would be found, and attention would turn to the disturbing history of the property itself, raising new questions about how far back this story really goes, and how many secrets may still be buried there. Annual subscribers receive a free Points Path Alerts subscription OR a 30% discount on Points Path Pro. Google is officially getting deeper into the points-and-miles world, and Ed and Richard have plenty of questions. Google is adding travel functionality to AI Mode that can search for points-and-miles availability directly from participating airlines and hotel programs. Initial integrations include Alaska, Hawaiian, American, Choice, Hilton and Wyndham, with Flying Blue, Hyatt, LATAM and Lufthansa among those expected to follow. And the results can be fast—Richard gets award pricing back almost instantly during the show. But fast doesn't necessarily mean accurate. Ed puts the new functionality through a series of tests and finds incorrect Hilton award prices, missing hotels, problems with dates and days of the week, and incomplete results. Richard gets Google to find an Alaska Mileage Plan redemption on American—but only after specifically asking about it, and even then Google provides the wrong partner booking fee. They also conduct a live experiment looking for Marriott award availability during Atlanta Braves home games, with some interesting results. So, is Google AI ready to replace dedicated award-search tools? Not yet. But Ed and Richard agree that if Google can make the data more reliable, the ability to ask a broad question like "Show me every date in October when I can fly this route for 7,500 miles" could become extremely useful. Richard also breaks down Bilt's new partnership with Blacklane, which allows members to book the chauffeur service directly through Bilt and use Bilt Cash or points toward rides. He explains why a premium airport pickup can be particularly valuable at airports where rideshare pickup is a hassle—and acknowledges that the convenience comes at a price. Plus, a $10 Uber Eats order somehow becomes a $29 order, the guys discuss air traffic controllers reportedly leaving work early before a fatal airport accident, and Ed celebrates a very points-and-miles-specific parenting achievement. Photo: Carlisle Barracks Post Cemetery in Carlisle, Pa. (Courtesy Office of Army Cemeteries) The remains of 12 Native children who died while attending the Carlisle Indian Industrial School in Pennsylvania are beginning their journeys home. The Office of Army Cemeteries is beginning its latest round of disinterments at the Carlisle Barracks Post Cemetery. The children died more than a century ago while attending the federal boarding school, which operated from 1879 to 1918. Carlisle became a model for the federal Indian boarding school system, where Native children were separated from their families and communities and forced to abandon their languages and cultures. Families and Tribal leaders are gathering at Carlisle as the remains are prepared to return to their homelands. According to ICT, this marks the ninth round of disinterments at the cemetery. The 12 students include four Alaska Native children and students from several Tribal Nations across the country. The repatriation process is scheduled to continue through October 12th, as descendants and communities bring the children home more than a century after their deaths. Red dresses and a sign reading “No More MMIW” adorn a tree in Heron Park in Springfield, Ore. during a special poetry reading on May 1, 2024. (Photo: Brian Bull) Violence prevention, victim advocacy and MMIP services across Indian Country are dealing with disruptions and cuts at the federal level, as Brian Bull of Underscore Native News and KLCC reports. A recent report from the Urban Indian Health Institute says more than 200 programs and organizations have lost funds or cut back services since President Donald Trump began his second term. Whether through the so-called “Big Beautiful Bill” or initiatives against programs the White House deems “DEI” — diversity, equity and inclusion — or “woke”, many Native services are seeing support eroding. Nearly two-thirds of respondents said they were “substantially impacted” by funding cuts since January 2025, with 60% of unmet need requests for safe housing support. UIHI director Abigail Echo-Hawk said this will exacerbate issues for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and the Missing and Murdered Indigenous People crisis. “They're staying in their cars, they're becoming homeless, they're in shelters with their children, then having to move from one shelter to another. And in the worst case scenarios – that I know is happening – they're going back to the people that are abusing them because they don't want their children to become homeless, or they're in such desperate circumstances, they have no other choice.” State Representative Tawna Sanchez (Shoshone-Bannock and Ute descent), D-Oregon, has worked on MMIP and other Native issues. She is worried about how the Trump administration's continued implementation of HR 1 will affect marginalized communities and vulnerable populations. “The larger issue, right now, obviously, is: how do we value human life? Any life. And we have only begun to feel the effects of HR 1. The real effects are coming. And they're going to be hard.” Some Native advocates including Echo-Hawk say educating lawmakers can help. She said some anti-DEI initiatives have been reversed as tribes are political entities, not DEI. Another advocate, Desiree Coyote, is the family violence services program manager for the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation. She says there is an obligation from the federal government to honor all treaties signed with tribes. “This is part of what they agreed to do with us as tribal nations to help us ensure and protect our community in regards to public safety. I look forward to when the tribal nations – in regards to their sovereignty, as a way of ensuring intimate partner violence, sexual assault, dating violence, missing and murdered – are addressed quickly and in a meaningful way that benefits the people we serve.” The report, titled “Sacred Responsibility: Protecting Our People“, includes recommendations for tribal and federal agencies. James Norwood joins Gaz and G Stop to chat about his career, from having trials once at Crystal Palace and missing a lads' holiday to Zante, right through to becoming a goalscoring phenomenon at Tranmere Rovers, playing for and being suspended by Ipswich Town, Joey Barton turning him down at Bristol Rovers, sneaking in an extra year at Barnsley, and regretting ever turning up at Oldham Athletic. Norwood doesn't hold back either. He talks about dealing with internet trolls, finding his next club, the managers he's worked under, some of the crazy moments from his career and the realities of life as a professional footballer travlling up and down the country chasing contracts. There's the story of missing a holiday to sign for Exeter City, some brilliant tales from Forest Green Rovers and why he now hates the club, choosing National League Tranmere Rovers over then-Championship side Burton Albion, scoring in a play-off final, and knocking Forest Green out of the League Two play-offs. We also get into his time at Ipswich Town, playing with his back to goal, injuries, being suspended and the problems that eventually saw him leave. And then there's Oldham... Norwood opens up about joining Oldham Athletic, wanting to leave after just one game, the fallout behind the scenes and why he ultimately regrets making the move. Plus, there's boozing before Leeds, questionable social media posts, mouldy showers and some brutally honest opinions on managers. Laci is joined by the hilarious Jay Jurden in this extra long episode exploring the heist of a Nicolas Cage film from a flash drive someone left on a desk. Throughout Cage's (née Coppola) storied career, he's starred in some of the greatest movies of all time (Adaptation), and he's led some of the worst (see streaming titles). But no one predicted an entire film could be stolen. Now, producers are suing, and we're left wondering if this film about the man who inspired the creation of James Bond will ever see the light of day. A catastrophic glacial collapse high on the Tibetan Plateau triggered a lethal deluge of mud, ice, and mountain debris through the river valleys bordering Tibet and Nepal. With over 800 confirmed deaths and thousands still missing across the transboundary region, search and rescue teams are battling deep silt, damaged infrastructure, and subterranean hazards to reach survivors. In this video, we break down the critical rescue operations—from trapped hydroelectric tunnel workers to emergency international aid—and examine how climate change is accelerating cryosphere destabilization worldwide. We also look at how shifting global weather patterns are driving extreme hydrological shocks across diverse ecosystems, including recent flash flooding and mudslides along Bright Angel Creek in the Grand Canyon. #Tibet #Nepal #GlacialCollapse #ClimateChange #FlashFloods #GrandCanyon #NaturalDisaster #Himalayas Independent media has never been more important. What do divine feminine and masculine energy have to do with Jesus Christ, the gospel, and becoming one? In this deep dive, Meghan Farner explores: What is divine feminine energy? What is healthy divine masculine energy? And how can balancing masculine and feminine transform our understanding of repentance, healing, and spiritual growth?Drawing from Restoration scripture, ancient wisdom traditions, temple symbolism, and Christian mysticism, Meghan explores the law of polarity (or opposition) and the ancient “law of gender”—which she reframes as the law of masculine and feminine, or the law of creation.Rather than treating masculine and feminine as simple opposites—or equating feminine with women and masculine with men—Meghan proposes that each person carries both. The feminine represents creativity, intuition, receptivity, transformation, divine connection, and the full spectrum of possibility. The masculine brings orientation, boundaries, stability, intentionality, protection, and execution. What happens when these energies become wounded or distorted? And what might change when the divine feminine and masculine are healed and brought into inner union? This episode connects these ideas to the natural man and true divine self, repentance and metanoia, Jesus Christ as an embodiment of masculine and feminine wholeness, LDS temple symbolism, becoming Zion, and the Gospel of Thomas teaching to “make the two one.”Could becoming one in Christ begin with reconciling what has been divided within ourselves?00:00 - Hidden Wisdom Welcome and Divine Masculine & Feminine Introduction04:20 - Is Divine Feminine and Masculine the Key to Living the Gospel?05:58 - Hermetic Laws: Polarity, Gender, and Spiritual Growth06:31 - The Law of Opposition: Why Opposites Create Wholeness08:06 - The Law of Creation: Masculine and Feminine Beyond Polarity10:16 - Masculine and Feminine Energies in Every Person13:37 - Feminine Energy: Intuition, Creativity, Vision, and Transformation15:43 - Masculine Energy: Boundaries, Execution, Stability, and Safety18:53 - Healthy and Unhealthy Feminine Energy: Responsiveness vs. Reactivity22:20 - Healthy and Unhealthy Masculine Energy: Orientation vs. Control25:29 - Full Spectrum Feminine Energy and Grounded Masculine Focus28:54 - Healing the Natural Man Through Inner Masculine and Feminine Balance30:11 - Healthy Feminine Energy: Abundance, Beauty, Trust, and Rebirth33:12 - Healthy Masculine Energy: Purpose, Integrity, and Spiritual Direction35:45 - The Natural Man and the True Divine Self38:32 - Jesus Christ as the Divine Masculine and Divine Feminine Archetype40:49 - Inner Marriage, Oneness in Christ, and Becoming Zion42:44 - Temple Symbolism and the Union of Masculine and Feminine43:24 - Gospel of Thomas, Metanoia, and the Path to Wholeness46:57 - Becoming Sons and Daughters of God: Closing Reflection#DivineFeminine #DivineMasculine #MasculineAndFeminine #JesusChrist #ChristianMysticism #LDS #Restoration #LDSTheology #TempleSymbolism #SpiritualAwakening #SpiritualGrowth #DivineFeminineEnergy #MasculineEnergy #FeminineEnergy #Metanoia #GospelOfThomas #ChristianSpirituality #BecomingOne #HiddenWisdom Continue Your JourneyIf this episode resonated with you, there are several ways to go deeper:
Courage can show up in telling the truth, making difficult decisions, and acting without having all the answers. In this episode, Dean Newlund and Ryan Berman explore what courage looks like in leadership, how fear shapes our choices, and how we can build the courage to move forward. In this episode, Dean Newlund and Ryan Berman discuss: Why telling the truth and staying authentic takes courage How fear shapes leadership and workplace culture Building courage through curiosity and experimentation Using knowledge, belief, and action to make decisions Managing loneliness and perspective in leadership Key Takeaways: Create more alignment between your personal and professional self by examining whether your work reflects the values that give you energy. Make courageous conversations safer by checking impact and asking what the other person heard instead of assuming your intent was clear. Treat mistakes as part of experimentation, creating space to test ideas, learn from what happens, and keep moving. Use knowledge, faith, and action together to avoid paralysis from overthinking or recklessness from acting without enough understanding. Pay attention to relationships that may shift as you grow in leadership, and make connection and shared purpose part of how you lead. "Knowledge plus faith plus action equals courage.” — Ryan Berman About Ryan Berman: Ryan Berman is a corporate fear fighter, founder of Courageous, author of Return On Courage, and host of The Courageous Podcast. For 25+ years, Ryan has helped companies operationalize courage where they need it most, counseling organizations including Google, Procter & Gamble, Kellogg's, Kraft Heinz, Bausch & Lomb, Tropicana, the Atlanta Falcons, and Snapchat. "I tend to think taking the Lord's name in vain has less to do with a swear or curse moment, but a lot more with having a human agenda that is not good, unjust... and then using the Lord's name to justify it and make it good." In this episode of We Should Know Better, the guys pour a fresh glass of Michter's and traverse through the absurdity of modern culture. After raising a glass to Dolly Parton and mourning Big Bear's beloved bald eagle, they dissect a Homeland Security recruitment video using Isaiah 6:8 and dig into what "taking the Lord's name in vain" truly means beyond just swearing. The conversation heats up as they examine the bad-faith trolling of Enes Kanter Freedom and Royce White entering the WNBA draft, the bizarre world of longevity biohacker Bryan Johnson, and whether optimizing every second of your health means forgetting how to actually live. This week on Murder, Not Murdering, Erin brings us back to Spokane, Washington, in 1919 for the strange and unsettling case of W.H. McNutt. A missing brother, a hammer, and a medium all become pieces of a bizarre mystery that captured the attention of Spokane—and left behind more questions than answers. Then Autumn dives into one of the most infamous kidnappings in American history: the kidnapping of Patty Hearst. In 1974, the 19-year-old heiress was abducted from her Berkeley apartment by the Symbionese Liberation Army. What happened next would become a media sensation, sparking questions about loyalty, coercion, radical politics, and the mysterious transformation of a kidnapping victim into one of the most controversial figures of the 1970s.Two cases. Two very different eras. And two stories that prove sometimes the strangest crimes are the ones that refuse to fit neatly into a box.Murder, Not Murdering — new episodes every Tuesday.

Two mothers. Five children. One diagnosis now stands between a crime and a courtroom. A Bronx judge just found Dimone Fleming not responsible for stabbing her 3-year-old and 11-month-old sons in a family shelter. In Massachusetts, a jury is deciding whether Lindsay Clancy was too sick to be guilty after she strangled 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 8-month-old Callan. Pat puts both cases on the table and asks the question a lot of people only whisper: Why are moms no longer connecting with their kids? Nobody seriously pretends postpartum psychosis is fake. The fight is what comes after — responsibility, culture, family, and whether a country that medicalizes every collapse still knows how to protect children. Pat also covered: Gov. We learn what people think are the most romantic cities in the U.S. to go on a date, and we're just glad Vegas wasn't on the list. Sarah reveals the most disturbing fact Susie says we've ever learned on the show--it's a statistic about men's underwear and we are NOT OK (and clearly, neither are men). We find out about Matt Damon's (female!) stunt double, and why she is our badass bitch of the week. We hear what the secret is to being a "supermover" in old age, and we aspire! Sarah talks about her love of Thrifty Ice Cream, and how one business owner is keeping it alive. We hear how a group of students is solving cold cases and we discuss how some relatives of criminals like Charles Manson worry the evil acts of their family member might reflect on their own characters.00:00 - Brain Candy Club and Tombstone Philosophy02:06 - Keypad Installation and Appliance Woes11:52 - Unveiling America's Top Romantic Destinations18:01 - The Disturbing Truth About Men's Underwear Habits26:49 - Meet Devin Dalton, Matt Damon's Female Stunt Double29:26 - Simple Tests to Gauge Your Functional Fitness34:14 - The Unsung Heroines of Stunt Performance41:21 - How Fast Walking Boosts Brain Health in Old Age47:02 - The Surf Shop Keeping Thrifty Ice Cream Alive51:23 - Al's Job Impact and the Joy of Fidget Toys53:36 - High School Students Reignite Unsolved Murder Investigations56:51 - Exploring the Legacy of Charles Manson's Family01:02:44 - Final Thoughts and Community Engagement Brain Candy Podcast Website - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/Brain Candy Podcast Book Recommendations - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/books/Brain Candy Podcast Merchandise - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/candy-store/Brain Candy Podcast Candy Club - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/product/candy-club/Brain Candy Podcast Sponsor Codes - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/support-us/Brain Candy Podcast Social Media & Platforms:Brain Candy Podcast LIVE Interactive Trivia Nights - https://www.youtube.com/@BrainCandyPodcast/streamsBrain Candy Podcast Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastHost Susie Meister Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterHost Sarah Rice Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBrain Candy Podcast on X: https://www.x.com/braincandypodBrain Candy Podcast Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/braincandy (JOIN FREE - TONS OF REALITY TV CONTENT)Brain Candy Podcast Sponsors, partnerships, & Products that we love:Go to https://thrivecausemetics.com/braincandy for an exclusive offer of 20% off your first order.Visit https://www.carawayhome.com/braincandypod to take an additional 10% off your next purchase.TDM-RESERVATION: 1.
