We examine claims surrounding illegal orders in the military and the role of oaths and institutional accountability before turning to the “foolishness of the week,” including the internet's ability to amplify extremism and reward outrage. We then shift to why Americans consistently believe the economy is doing worse than the data suggests, exploring consumer sentiment, inflation, wages, housing costs, and the lingering psychological effects of pandemic-era stimulus. We close by discussing housing as both shelter and investment, the realities of rent and mortgage affordability, student loan debt, rising expectations, and why economic anxiety persists even in periods of growth. 00:00 Introduction and Overview 00:31 Missing an Episode for the First Time 02:28 Listener Gift and Firefighter Calendar Story 03:52 A Belated Christmas Story of Compassion 07:13 Mark Kelly, Illegal Orders, and Military Oaths 12:40 Foolishness of the Week: Nazi Dating Sites 15:08 The “Village Idiot” Theory and the Internet 18:07 Why Americans Think the Economy Is Terrible 22:08 Consumer Sentiment vs. Economic Data 24:37 Inflation, Wages, and Why It Still Feels Worse 29:27 COVID Stimulus Effects and Income Perception 33:30 Housing Costs, Rent, and Homeownership Myths 37:10 Mortgage Rates, Rent Increases, and Risk 41:04 Housing as Shelter vs. Housing as Investment 45:29 Why People Still Can't Afford Homes 48:33 Social Media, Expectations, and Lifestyle Inflation 51:02 Student Loan Debt and the Real Affordability Crisis 55:14 College Costs, Tradeoffs, and Financial Reality 57:44 Expectations, Advertising, and Economic Anxiety 01:00:40 Why Consumer Sentiment May Never Fully Recover Learn more about your ad choices. Is Candace Owens being unfairly attacked for hosting an open-source investigation rather than presenting finalized conclusions? Jimmy thinks so, emphasizing that Owens' role is to surface leads and tips that the broader community can then investigate. He highlights commentary from "Jesse On Fire," who explains that Owens acts as a central hub for vetted clues, while viewers collectively verify, debunk, or confirm them without turning disagreements into infighting.  Jimmy goes on to criticize media figures and influencers who frame unverified leads as proof of incompetence or malice, claiming this division serves institutional interests that want investigations shut down. He concludes that discrediting Candace is a strategy to derail collective inquiry, arguing that real investigations require following every lead to its end—even ones that go nowhere. Plus segments on comments from a prominent Israeli billionaire that the US will have to forgo free speech rights for Israel and the Trump administration's insane charges against Maduro. Despite the lack of (outdoor) professional golf during this first week of January, Andy and Brendan know the show must go on! The two are admittedly down in the dumps a bit with no Kapalua on our TV screens and wonder if we've already seen the final PGA Tour event played at the Plantation Course. This "rite of passage" may not be kicking off 2026, but there has been plenty of TGL to fill the void! The Bay GC and Atlanta Drive match on Tuesday night was a "second-screen filler" for Andy, Brendan, and PJ, and all three admit some level of fatigue with the screen golf league after just three matches of season two. Some of the new holes are nice, Chris Gotterup has been a star, and Roberto Castro has improved the ESPN broadcast, but nobody knows where TGL should rightfully stand in the golf ecosystem. Even with all of these outstanding questions facing its first league, TGL has expanded and founded a WTGL, coming this winter! Lexi Thompson, a semi-retired professional golfer, has signed on to be the face of the women's league, which Andy and Brendan both deem to be "too much" screen golf. Andy thinks a WTGL league could be better than the LPGA's week-to-week product, but doesn't have much faith that the TGL will figure out how to get there. There's a lengthy discussion about TGL rosters and how nobody can figure out who's on what team with all of the "alternates" in play before everyone agrees that too much time has been spent on screen golf in this episode. Speaking of teams, Talor Gooch made a strong, Sam Presti-like move adding Harold Varner III to Smash GC! This trade came as a result of Thomas Detry joining fellow Illini Thomas Pieters on the 4Aces, marking another signing for LIV during this Hot Stove season. Elvis Smylie has also joined the league, teaming up with Leish and Cam Smith on the Rippers. After a very, very abbreviated Schedule for the Week, Andy leads his yearly look at the Top 10 of the OWGR as the group predicts which players will fall out of the top spots by the end of 2026. Join us in Chicagoland for an SGS Live Show on Thursday, February 12! We'll be hanging out at SPACE in Evanston, Illinois for a night of Q&A, Champs Tour Minute, and plenty of Bears chatter. Believing the Bizarre: Paranormal Conspiracies & Myths

The A70 UFO Incident | Paranormal Podcast In our first episode of 2026, we journey to Scotland to explore the A70 incident, one of the UK's most compelling alien abduction cases. On the night of August 27, 1992, Gary Wood and Colin Wright were driving south on the A70 highway near Edinburgh. As they traveled through the small town of Bonny Bridge—an area with over 300 UFO sightings annually—Colin spotted something unusual shoot across the sky. Minutes later, both men witnessed a massive two-tiered disc hovering just 20 feet above the road. Rather than stopping to observe this craft, Gary made the split-second decision to accelerate and try to drive underneath it. When they passed beneath the object, it released a shimmering silver mist that touched their car, plunging both men into complete darkness. What felt like only a few seconds to them turned out to be far more significant—when they regained their bearings and found themselves inexplicably driving in the opposite direction, they discovered they had lost approximately 90 minutes of time and arrived at their friend's house well past 2:00 AM. The aftermath of this encounter proved even more disturbing than the initial experience. Gary began suffering from severe, unexplainable headaches that led to extensive medical testing including MRIs, CAT scans, and even a spinal tap—all of which came back with no answers from confused doctors. Desperate for understanding, both men turned to the British UFO Research Association, which recommended hypnotic regression with Dr. Helen Walters, a qualified hypnotist and psychic. During these sessions, Gary—a hardened ambulance driver who had seen countless traumatic situations—burst into tears and had to be escorted out of his first regression, while Colin remained eerily calm throughout. Through multiple sessions, both men independently described being taken aboard the craft by three six-foot-tall gray beings with large heads, dark eyes, and four long fingers, then being led through circular hallways into fog-filled rooms where they were stripped and examined.

The DOJ missed a legally mandated December 19 transparency deadline on the Epstein files and has offered little more than vague assurances that it is still “working behind the scenes” to process millions of documents. That explanation rings hollow given how long the government has possessed this material and how predictable the transparency requirement was. Missing the deadline is not a clerical slip but a statement of priorities, signaling continued institutional resistance to full disclosure. The invocation of massive document counts functions less as a justification than as a delay tactic, one designed to exhaust public attention and blunt accountability while preserving protection for powerful interests connected to Epstein. The DOJ has repeatedly shifted the goal posts on Epstein transparency by turning clear legal and public demands into an endless process with no fixed endpoint. Each time a deadline or disclosure requirement approaches, it is met not with documents, but with new justifications—more records to review, more redactions to apply, more internal steps to complete. What began as a mandate for transparency has been reframed into a moving target defined entirely by the DOJ's own pace and preferences. This pattern allows the department to appear cooperative while functionally delaying accountability, keeping the most damaging material out of public view while insisting progress is being made. The result is a rolling postponement that undermines the law itself and reinforces the perception that when Epstein is involved, transparency is something the DOJ controls, not something it complies with.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.com

Forensic psychologist Dr. John Paul Garrison characterized the Jeffrey Epstein jail surveillance footage as deeply irregular and psychologically inconsistent with a standard custodial suicide narrative. He emphasized that the gaps, malfunctions, and missing segments of video are not trivial technical issues but critical failures in evidentiary continuity. From his perspective, surveillance footage in a high-risk inmate unit—especially involving someone as high-profile as Epstein—should be redundant, time-synchronized, and preserved without interruption. Garrison noted that the absence of clear, continuous footage at the most consequential moment invites reasonable doubt and undermines institutional credibility. He stressed that in forensic psychology and behavioral analysis, context matters as much as content, and when the context is compromised, conclusions become speculative rather than evidentiary.Garrison further explained that the behavior Epstein reportedly exhibited prior to his death—combined with the custodial environment and the failures documented that night—does not allow for a confident psychological determination of suicide based solely on available footage and records. He cautioned against overreliance on post hoc interpretations that attempt to fill in visual gaps with assumptions, calling that approach scientifically unsound. According to Garrison, the missing or corrupted footage removes a key behavioral data point that would normally allow experts to assess intent, opportunity, and external interference. His bottom-line assessment was blunt: without intact, uninterrupted surveillance evidence, no responsible forensic psychologist can definitively rule out alternative explanations, and any assertion of certainty exceeds what the evidence can honestly support.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:Forensic psychologist claims new analysis of Epstein surveillance video is conclusive proof of a cover-up | Daily Mail Online

Ahead of the next legislative session this month, Arizona Democratic state lawmakers held a town hall at the end of December on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples (MMIP). KJZZ's Gabriel Pietrorazio has details. State Sen. Sally Ann Gonzales (Pascua Yaqui/D-AZ), chair of the Arizona legislature’s Indigenous Peoples Caucus, made no promises. “We will not have solutions for you today.” But she and others spent three hours listening. Reva Stewart (Diné) believes families are repeatedly asked to relive their trauma by testifying with no results. “Listening without action has become a pattern. Legislation without enforcement is not protection. Taskforce without authority or accountability are not solutions. Meetings without funding are not justice.” Roxanne Barley (Cocopah) complained that criteria changed for the state's Turquoise Alert, originally designed to notify the public of Indigenous disappearances. Of the five alerts in 2025, only one was for a Native American – a teen in Yuma. “That was the lie that we were promised, that was the hoax that we were told.” But State Sen. Theresa Hatathlie (Diné/D-AZ) explained how lawmakers negotiated and compromised. “And that is the ugly truth of politics.” Alaska state health officials are still recommending the hepatitis B vaccine for all newborns, despite a recent, controversial change in federal guidance. The virus has historically seriously impacted Alaska Native communities. Alaska Public Media's Rachel Cassandra has more. Hepatitis B is a virus spread through bodily fluids and from mother to baby during childbirth. Historically, Alaska has had high rates of hepatitis B, especially among Alaska Native people. In the 1970s, widespread infection led to high rates of liver cancer in Alaska Native children. State Epidemiology Chief Dr. Joe McLaughlin says screening and vaccinations have helped reduce rates of hepatitis B in the state. And McLaughlin says the vaccine is still important in Alaska, which has struggled with high rates of chronic hepatitis B. “This universal birth dosing helps to ensure every baby receives protection, regardless of their location or access to care or any follow-up challenges that they might have, this approach has definitely helped reduce disparities in hepatitis B outcomes across Alaska for decades.” Public health experts credit the vaccine with dramatically lowering the risk of developing chronic hepatitis B, serious liver diseases, and liver cancer. For over three decades, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommended that all babies across the country get the vaccine at birth. Then, last month, the CDC narrowed its guidance, recommending the vaccine only for infants born to women who test positive for the virus or whose status is unknown. The guidance says women who test negative should consult with a health care provider before vaccinating their newborn, but McLaughlin emphasizes that the CDC also acknowledged that each state has to consider its own hepatitis B rates and risk factors. “Alaska, where the rates are nearly three times the national average, clearly falls into a higher-risk category as a state in general. And our data support continuing universal birth dose vaccination to protect infants in Alaska.” Health insurers have said they will continue to cover the hepatitis B vaccine. **Discussion begins at 7:30**In the late 1990s, Mexican Channel 5 would cut into cartoons and late night shows,  with a solemn voice and grainy black and white photos of missing people who had vanished without a trace.  One of these missing women was Selene Delgado, Lopez.  But decades later, nobody can agree on whether she ever existed.  Was Selene a real 18 year old who disappeared in Mexico City and whose case slipped through the cracks?  Or was she a media fabrication?  After all these years there are no official records, not family testimony, and no confirmed sightings.  And she's not the only one... In the 1980s, Chicago residents remember seeing a grainy black and white photo of another missing woman named Joanna Lopez that would air after the nightly news had wrapped.  But when the internet tried to solve the mystery decades later, things only got stranger. Records were scarce. Police files were practically nonexistent. Was Joanna ever truly reported missing? Was she part of a PSA campaign gone wrong? A broadcasting error? Or something else entirely?  This wee we are diving deep into these cases and attempting to get to the bottom of the truth about these two women.  Send us a textSupport the showTheme song by INDA

We landed on our theme for 2026, and it feels so right. It encapsulates our attitude for the year. Sarah got a good news/bad news situation about her lady parts, and she wants the world to know about it. We learn about a man who has been walking the globe for over 25 years and he is on our main nerve. Sarah watched the Murder in Monaco documentary, and it made her wonder whether you can lie to yourself if you do it long enough. We hear why men are becoming more involved in their health and well-being, but Susie wonders if this isn't just machismo dressed up as self-care. Sarah reveals which animals are the most "monogamous," and we wonder whether humans are messing up the data. Plus, we learn about Orville and Wilbur Wright's sister Katherine, who was erased from history despite her genius work.Brain Candy Podcast Website - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/Brain Candy Podcast Book Recommendations - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/books/Brain Candy Podcast Merchandise - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/candy-store/Brain Candy Podcast Candy Club - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/product/candy-club/Brain Candy Podcast Sponsor Codes - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/support-us/Brain Candy Podcast Social Media & Platforms:Brain Candy Podcast LIVE Interactive Trivia Nights - https://www.youtube.com/@BrainCandyPodcast/streamsBrain Candy Podcast Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastHost Susie Meister Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterHost Sarah Rice Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBrain Candy Podcast on X: https://www.x.com/braincandypodBrain Candy Podcast Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/braincandy (JOIN FREE - TONS OF REALITY TV CONTENT)Brain Candy Podcast Sponsors, partnerships, & Products that we love:Begin your personalized roadmap to sexual happiness with Beducated by taking the quiz at https://beducate.me/pd2602-braincandyGet $30 off your first box - PLUS free Croissants for life - when you go to https://wildgrain.com/braincandy to start your subscription.
