Professor Dr Ferre Laevers is from the Department of Education, Katholieke University Leuven (Belgium) and director of the Centre for Experiential Education. Ferre has developed the Leuven Involvement Scale which provides an observation framework for evaluating the quality of children's involvement in the learning process. During the conference, Ferre will introduce participants to this scale and describe a number of strategies for supporting and enriching children's educational, social and emotional development. This work has been hugely influential on early years practice in over 20 countries as well as having a major impact here in the UK, so we are very fortunate to be able to hear from Ferre Laevers himself.
