Technically Broken is a podcast hosted by two (sometimes three) friends that share their experiences in the mechanical world from opposite sides of the spectrum: professional vs. hobbyist. Mario, a professional mechanic, shares his experience, stories, and frustrations from a professional’s point of view and talks about all kinds of crazy happenings in the profession while Botar, a part-time hobbyist, shares his perspective from that of an amateur and his rewarding experiences as well as total flops. Caleb, the producer, will sometimes chime in and share stories from an outside perspective as well. At the end of every episode there is a â€Worth it or Junk it†segment where each host talks about a subject in the mechanical world they love or could live without. Between everyone involved there are many laughs and situations that anyone who has dabbled with anything mechanical or repair-wise can surely relate.
This month we continue our Motorsports series by going into a semi-deeper dive into the world of karting with Mikey B. We get to learn about some of the more difficult experiences in this side of motorsports as well as some of the more fun aspects. Thanks for tuning in! This time in Technically Broken we interview our longtime friend, Smokey! He has years of experience doing all sorts of odds and ends but a couple have been most prevalent: farming and fixing shit. We delve into the depths of what makes up a Smokey and how he developed his love for farming and all the things he's had to deal with on the way to his current career, which if you hadn't guessed is: farming. Full of charisma and a great sense of humor this was definitely a fun one for us. Thanks for tuning in! Episode 8 we'll start introducing socials in the audio podcast descriptions.
Howdy everybody! We're back at it again with the main trio talking about, well, you guessed it: the "suck" of the job. Basically any job that you've done that's just taken the life out of you or made you want to punch a wall. The jobs that make you heavy sigh before you heavy sigh right before you even know the full scope of what you're gonna have to do. It's every bit of that love/hate relationship with fixin' shit. This episode we talk about jobs that have sucked for us as well as minor repairs and replacements that just suck. For the Worth It or Junk It segment we dive into junkyards and what we think of them! How ironic! Thanks for tuning in! Make sure to rate us 5 stars if you like the episode!
This time on Technically Broken we meet up with Mario's longtime friend and past colleague, Ben, who works as a union lineman. Working in the field most, if not all, the time he encounters some wild things. We run through the history of how he met Mario at the kart track, the broken things they had to deal with together before they both ventured off on their own to forge their own paths. Ben tells us of some of the wild experiences he's had in the field ranging from dangerous to just plain interesting and some of the most “technically broken” things he's had to deal with. Thanks for tuning in and we hope you enjoy the show! Make sure to like, subscribe, and rate us 5 stars! It really helps. Intro music by @altavillamusic on instagram
Today's focus is Caleb's new job…kinda! He just started working in a shop as a semi mechanic. We hear from him and what led to this development as well as how he likes it. Does he like it? That's the bigger question. Mario and Botar ask the tough questions while Caleb sits pretty and answers like a champ. All in all, a good time and some good information and opinions. We're so stoked for our friend to make these kinds of moves in his life and fully support him. Thanks for listening! Make sure to give us a like, subscribe, and rate us 5 stars! It really helps.
We're back at it again in episode three interviewing our longtime friend, Chad. Chad has a deep background in farming, which he started participating in when he was very young. Chad shares his past experiences and all the necessary and sometimes annoying repairs that were needed to keep the farm running as well as what he's been up to most recently. Then, we get into our Worth it or Junk it segment where we discuss overreaching tech and other topics. Thanks for listening!
The guys go a little bit more in depth about their beginnings and the different perspectives of professionals vs. hobbyists. Every person, depending on their background, has a different approach to any given situation and the unique points of view between them plays a role in how they take on a job or task. Thanks for tuning in!
This is the first official episode of Technically Broken where we introduce ourselves and briefly share some experiences and what the show is all about. Between the three of us we talk about experiences with the mechanic industry from both outside and inside, professional vs hobbyist. All from a comedic point of view.
