Wonder Woman 1984 has been out a while and whether you loved it or hated it there are a ton of themes of self-worth and value to explore! My good friend, Rev. Macie Liptoi helped me think through so many intricate parts of this movie that I missed. This movie showcases that finding self-worth is more than just quick goals or even achieving your dreams. Self-worth comes from accepting yourself no matter your income, relationship status, job, or any other worldly identifier. Self-worth grows when we truly see ourselves as worthy of unconditional love. 

I recorded this episode a while ago! It was hard to edit and post. Talking about grief is so healing but still so difficult. For this episode, Emilee Maxwell shares the story of losing her grandma and how she is able to see her grandma through the movie Moana. As we continued to chat we realized that the movie isn't just about a fun Disney adventure but is about Moana's journey through grief and finding peace after losing someone dear.

It was only a matter of time before we started talking about Leslie Knope! There are so many lessons to take away from Parks and Recreation, but Leslie's ability to lead confidently and humbly were on our mind today. This week Heather Kenison joins me to discover the sacred within Leslie Knope's leadership and self-love. I have now watched Frozen II way too many times. I hope after listening to this podcast you do too! Today we are walking through Elsa's power ballad "Show Yourself". This song showcases my entire relationship with God and I'm still amazed every time I listen to it. As a Methodist minister, I even found that this song follows the Wesleyan Way of Salvation! So if you're into Frozen, theology, or hearing a bit about my own life this episode is for you!

In 2015 "Inside Out" premiered and changed my life. This movie helped give me language and imagery to express what was going on inside my own mind.  We may often run from sadness and other emotions but what if there is something beautiful and sacred about accepting them? In 2017 we all watched documentaries on the disaster of Fyre Festival. While we enjoyed the memes and daydreamed about how we could plan a festival way better than Billy and JaRule, I think we missed a critical issue. Fyre Festival exploited the Bahamian people and never restored what they had ruined. If you look up Mission Trip blogs and posts you'll see people are critical of how they can be constructed to further colonialism and increase the white-savior complex. This week we will discuss the truth in that criticism but also establish how we can partner with the world and honor the sacred.

There is a lot of drama happening in the Bachelor franchise right now. After filming has been pushed back due to Coronavirus we even are switching out the Bachelorette! Congrats Clare Crawley on finding love and reminding us that being replaced does not always have to be a bad thing. Let's discuss what could be sacred here and what on earth this has to do with Moses!
