Well, if it isn't the little podcast that could, or some shit like that! Que onda guey and what's up dogs, and much amor to all the homegirls out there! Another Valley Tales episode is finally here like a hot cinnamon bun out of the oven on a cool autumn evening. Episode 006 was originally recorded in June of 2018, and Micah took a detour from the comical stories to examine some of his mental health issues and reflect on the legacy of the late chef, Anthony Bourdain. This episode goes deep into different topics that involve living with stress, depression, and dealing with PTSD. If these are issues that are uncomfortable for you, probably skip this episode. Otherwise, take a deep, relaxing breath, and settle in to get a little more intimate with your tour guide, as he opens up and shares from a side of the valley that is less talked about. Orale. And stay casual. *** And PLEASE DO NOT hesitate to reach out to people, or services, that are out there to help and guide you in times of mental health crises. *** Subscribe, rate 5 stars, and leave a tight review! Good morrow, brethren. We are long overdue for another installment of campfire nostalgia, and so, let's gather! We face very perplexing and uncharted waters in this modern age, and Sindependent Media would like to extend positivity and hope that you are all safe and staying vigilant! It's ok to be dealing with, and mitigating, big ol' balls of stress, we are all human; but here, we present to you a bit of distraction during this global pandemic, in the form of a Valley Tales episode. Episode 005 was originally recorded in early June of 2018, and Micah covered the topic of "colorful break-ups." We begin in the Summer of 1994, at age 14, when Micah met his first love, his ruca, his always & forever... But by that Fall, his ruca suddenly stopped accepting his mixtapes, and told him that it was over. Crushed, but crafty, Micah came up with his own creative way of handling the curveballs of youthful emotions. In the second half of the episode, the focus shifts to the early months of 2007 - age 27. Another break-up, another crafty (or foolhardy?) method of self therapy. This time amidst the backdrop of pre-smartphone Los Angeles (oh, it was a glorious time, sorry if you missed it!). A hotheaded version of a late 20s Micah gets presented with a life altering scenario near a crosswalk in downtown LA. Trucha, of the vida loca, my carnales. Orale. And stay casual.   *Looking for some cool cannabis in the Ventura County area? Aaaaaannnd here we are again, gathered snuggly 'round the sparkle of the campfire. Hope all is well, brethren, despite the absolute bonk ass poppycock that fills our weird world. Me? I'm managing, surviving, pushing through, but very pleased to bring to you another serving of suburban lore, in the form of a Valley Tales episode! On today's show, there's no actual theme for the stories, but there is a woven theme of auto travel throughout. When the original audio for this episode was recorded, Micah was going through some personal strife and just let loose a session of drunk venting. He touches on Star Wars fandom, music from the 1970s, social media interactions, romantic relationships, stuff of that ilk. There's also some anecdotes about the behavior of ride-share passengers. Fun stuff! People can be really cool sometimes, ya know??!! Or perhaps that is just sarcasm. But...just be cool, my dogs! Just. Be. Cool. And stay casual. *If you're ever in Ojai, CA, and are in need of some fresh medicinal greenery, visit Ojai Greens!  *Looking to buy a home in Las Vegas? We're back, and very much still in business! Micah has had to take some time to dabble in real life duties the last couple few months, but, alas, the warmth of the summer campfire is glowing upon us again. The tales this week involve the theme of the "outer limits," and what can happen when things are pushed passed what is accepted as normal.  First up, we dip back to the opening week of 2006, as Micah began his New Year with a puzzle to solve with his former roommates, in Echo Park, CA. In a time when medical cannabis and social media were still relatively new, and smart phones were not yet on the market, ingenuity and network connections happened with a different sense of urgency. You'd be wise to cuddle up and get comfortable for the second half of our episode, it's particularly special. Micah reveals one of his most legendary stories that dates back to the end of his senior year of high school, in 1998. The boundaries of the universe are tickled and kissed, as youthful curiosity is explored in the most unforgettable way possible, at the happiest spot in Southern California! Grab some refreshments and let's get casual!! *If you're ever in Ojai, CA, and are in need of some fresh greenery, visit Ojai Greens! What's shakin', homegirls and boys? Thanks for coming back to the campfire to check up on more tales from the suburban archives! This week, Micah has a jam packed show full of tasty, bottom-of-the-bag, secret French fries for you!  In this episode, the theme revolves around "going too deep," which takes us to Micah's junior high days in the early '90s, when he was first introduced to the sounds of politically-charged hard rock and hip hop homages to a specific sacred plant. Learn how these musical seeds planted in the 1990s, fertilized with hidden knowledge and cannabis propaganda, would grow into a variety of branches that paved our tour guide's trajectory. You'll hear about punk rock hospitality and yard-to-table cuisine in the foothills of Tujunga, CA; the nutritional properties of cranberry juice; and how to liven up a mundane night shift while working at a telemarketing company in Santa Barbara! The second half of our episode dares to journey a little deeper into the realms of subculture. We recommend to arm yourself with some Holy Water, because Micah opens up about his dating life and how he became intertwined with the tentacles of the S&M world in the greater Los Angeles area. Strap yourself in, the sparks of chemistry are coming in hot this week!! Welcome to the campfire! On this inaugural episode of Valley Tales, your tour guide, Micah Garcia, takes some time to briefly explain who he is and why he started this podcast. After some courtesies, we travel back to the summer of 2004, as Micah recounts the first weekend that he moved to Los Angeles. We then leave the comfort of the everlasting boulevards of the San Fernando Valley, and rewind a little bit further into the void of the mid to late 1990s. It's there we learn that playing a round of golf can sometimes involve a more tactical, and unconventional, approach. Enjoy, and let's get casual!
