When we put God at the center of our lives everything just sort of works itself out because we allow Him to work it out for us. The purpose of Veterans Vigil is to share God’s word and relate it to our military service in a positive and meaningful way. We will talk about serious issues such as PTSD…
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Phillipians 4:13 Today Pat is back and I'm talking to you about letting God be your strength every day and in every situation. God bless you all!
Today's Veterans Vigil has its FIRST guest, Alex, the daughter of a soldier who served for 23, honorable years in the Army. She recounts some of the wonderful experiences she had as an "Army Brat" traveling the world with her family and she also takes a little quiz to test her Army knowledge! It's important we all remember the blessings that a family can be to a service member and take the time to thank God for their presence in our lives during and after our service.
Are you proud of your military service? Do you speak of it highly when asked or when commended? I would bet most of us do! But when asked about your Christian faith or even challenged, how do you respond? Do you "camo" your faith, keep it close hold and hidden from the world? Well that's the wrong answer my brothers and sisters!
Have you ever fired your weapon and had it malfunction? Was it because it was fouled and dirty from a lack of proper cleaning and maintenance? Just like our service rifle we need to keep our spiritual life clean and unobstructed.
Today we are taking time to pray for our Marine brother Mike Coberly and his son, Mike Jr., who is in the ICU right now. Here on earth nothing is more important that family, and we must take the time to cherish all of the moments God gives us with our loved ones. Please take the time to cherish your family and friends, and especially take the time to pray for Mike Jr. and his family.
We talk a lot but do we back up those words with the commensurate actions? Do you read the scriptures, go to church on the weekends but it ends there, with not walking by the guidance of those words? It's all empty if you don't follow through and "walk the talk".
Where are the keys to the Landing Zone?! Today Pat talks about the lighter side of our military careers and why God wants us to laugh. So batten down the hatches shipmate and let's laugh a little!
Today Pat refers to 1 Peter 5:8, "Be of sober spirit, be on alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour." NASB What does it mean to be "vigilant"? One definition states, "to be keenly watchful to detect danger". As Christians we must always be on the watch for the health of our spirit and the spirits of others, just as we always watch our battle-buddy's six on the battlefield.
