In this episode of The Checkin with Dwyane Wade, Dwyane and Bob celebrate Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo's historic 83-point game against the Washington Wizards. Dwyane reflects on Bam's journey from a raw 19-year-old to a primary offensive engine, drawing a personal connection to Bam's upbringing on 76 Church Lane and what this record-breaking night means for his family's legacy. The hosts break down the physical feat behind the performance: 63 field goal attempts, 32 free throws, and relentless two-way dominance despite constant double- and triple-teams — before pushing back on critics who took issue with the free throw volume and the game's chaotic final minutes. They also address the media controversy surrounding Dwyane's "buzz in the city" comments, where he clarifies his critique is rooted in holding the Heat to the championship standard set during the Shaq, Big Three, and Jimmy Butler eras. The episode closes with Dwyane sending a message of brotherly love to Bam, making clear his high expectations come from wanting nothing less than a championship. In this episode we sit down with a member of Crimethinc to discuss the first year of the second Trump administration. In many ways the speed, severity, and violence of the first year has made the situation difficult to understand comprehensively. So, instead of just focusing on the swirl of events over the past 12 months, we are going to go back to the roots of what's happening today, the rise of neoliberalism. To make sense of everything we have experienced over the last year we start with events that occurred almost 40 years ago, with the fall of the Soviet Union and the rise of neoliberalism to primacy. This started a dynamic in which wealth has been increasingly concentrated in the hands of a shrinking number, in which cost of living is rising and wages are not keeping up, in which debt has come to be the mechanism used to fill in those financial gaps. Combined with an increasing scarcity of resources neoliberalism has led to a world in which those with resources and investments are capable of mobilizing state violence to protect and expand those interests in conflict with an increasingly desperate populace. Since the Obama administration and the financial crisis of 2008 capital and power has accelerated the dynamic of concentration, setting the stage for the invasions of American cities, the brutalization of our communities, and the serial violation of "rights" that many of us thought of as inviolable. Also during this period movements have arisen to oppose this concentration of power and wealth every step of the way. From the fights in the streets during the global anti-capitalist movement to the parks of Occupy, the barricades of the movements against the police in 2014 and 2020, or on the plains at Standing Rock, a dynamic of conflict has emerged along with the logistics and knowledge to sustain prolonged conflict with the state. This is all setting the stage for what is happening in Minneapolis, where the DHS has deployed all available units, and still cannot control the streets. We finish our discussion talking about the implications of what is happening in Minneapolis and how this might just become a quagmire that the administration cannot commit more to or pull itself out of without significant costs. We recorded this before the brutal ICE execution of Alex Pretti. Since then the people of Minneapolis have fought bravely in the streets against ICE, as well as the state police and local cops. https://crimethinc.com/2026/01/25/minneapolis-responds-to-the-murder-of-alex-pretti-an-eyewitness-accountFor more on what is happening in Minneapolis check out Crimethinc (https://crimethinc.com) , Unicorn Riot (https://unicornriot.ninja) and tune in to this show as we bring you all updates from the ground.

Paul tells the Ephesians to walk in such a way that wisdom marks our path. He then says to redeem our time, for the "days are evil". If they were evil then, we know that we know they are evil now. In fact, the days of Noah were evil plus - and so shall our days be. So what are we watching this week? It will be different tomorrow probably, and next week as well. We went from weekly newspapers in large cities back in the 19th century, to daily in the last century, to non-stop today and newspapers are not even read anymore. In light of all of this, we talk about redeeming the time in a very encouraging article to start us out. Then we talk about the uniqueness of Israel - but in a way you may not have thought of because God is sovereign over ALL nations (Acts 17). More headlines - Big Food wants us all to be vegans, and they can prove it. A hurricane update and just how the fake media is paying richly for their censorship and lies, which has touched every life at some point. Evil days - bright future. Hold fast! President Biden resurfaces to warn Americans of “dark days under Trump” — but Tara exposes the real darkness already shadowing free speech under his own administration. From Mark Zuckerberg's revelations about government pressure on Facebook to Elon Musk facing threats for allowing open dialogue on X, the hypocrisy runs deep. Tara takes apart Biden's appearance with Jimmy Kimmel, the so-called “victim” of a free speech atrocity, and revisits how Democrats weaponized censorship, investigations, and the media to silence dissent.
In this episode, Lee dives into the hyperbolic claims from Democratic leaders and the mainstream media about the supposed threats to free speech and the rise of a “dictatorship” in America. From DNC Chairman Ken Martin warning about a “break the glass” moment to Joe Biden framing minor late-night disruptions as evidence of grave free speech crises, the episode examines the overblown narrative. The discussion also explores Elon Musk's battles with the DOJ, government pressure on tech platforms, and the broader context of political overreach. Listeners get a critical look at how claims of authoritarianism are exaggerated while historical and factual context is ignored.
In this episode, we explore the growing divide between political rhetoric and reality, from warnings of an imminent dictatorship by DNC Chairman Ken Martin to Joe Biden's claims of “dark days” for free speech. The discussion highlights censorship pressures on social media platforms, including Elon Musk's struggles with the Biden administration, and contrasts them with street-level protests in London's Tower Hamlets, where Muslim counter-protesters marched freely while others faced restrictions. The episode then shifts to U.S. domestic policy, examining Democratic proposals to expand benefits for illegal immigrants while cutting funding for rural hospitals, and exposing patterns of government spending, foreign aid, and media funding. Through protests, policies, and budgets, this episode underscores a narrative of displacement, mismanagement, and political strategy.
Today, we break down the chaos across politics, media, and society. From warnings of a looming dictatorship by the DNC and Joe Biden's “dark days” claims on free speech, to Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg navigating government pressure, the media landscape is under the microscope. We also dive into protests in London's Tower Hamlets and the implications of unchecked counter-protests, along with the U.S. political fight over illegal immigrant benefits, rural hospital funding, foreign aid, and media bailouts. And that's just one ghostly incident on the A616 – Britain's most haunted road.Join the DARKNESS SYNDICATE: https://weirddarkness.com/syndicateTake the WEIRD DARKNESS LISTENER SURVEY and help mold the future of the podcast: https://weirddarkness.com/surveyIN THIS EPISODE: It's a stretch of road that only opened in 1988 to connect two existing roads, but it is known for being one of the deadliest roads in all of Britain… and one of the most haunted places in the world. The official designation is the A616… but most people know it as the Stocksbridge Bypass. (The Deadly Stocksbridge Bypass) *** Experiencing something strange is one thing. Experiencing two strange things in two different places might be called a coincidence. But when you experience three strange things in three different places, as Chet Guthrie did – you have to wonder if maybe the weirdness if following you around. (Three Events In Three Places of Really Weird Happenings) *** The Georgian Britains were obsessed with clean air, which was not surprising… because there was practically no clean air to obsess about. Even less-so in and around the cemeteries. (The Stench of Georgian Graveyards) *** A woman typically carries a baby for nine months before pregnancy. Sometimes a bit longer, sometimes a bit shorter, but that's the average. Technology has made it possible for the baby to be born much sooner if complications were to arise, and still survive to be a healthy child. But we might have a new record on shortest pregnancy. One woman in Indonesia is claiming she gave birth after being pregnant for only one hour. (The One Hour Pregnancy) *** Heavy fog is commonplace in London, and in 1952 one particular fog rolled in for a full five days, hovering over the city. But when it finally dissipated, over 12,000 Londoners lay dead. (The Deadly Fog of 1952) *** A borrowed gun, romantically linked cousins, and a rigged jury – all the makings of a great murder trial in 1887 New Jersey. (A Mount Holly Tragedy) *** Here's an idea on how to fight the black plague… throat lozenges… made from toad vomit! Hey, it was good enough for Isaac Newton! It was his own recipe!
