A nostalgia fueled look at some of my favorite films and filmmakers. Also, my dad is better than yours. Also, I would like to mention Who Framed Roger Rabbit? ... Not sure how I did an episode talking about my favorite films without mentioning it, but that appears to be what happened. Who Framed Roger Rabbit was a massive inspiration to me! It captured my imagination in a way that nothing had up to that point, and nothing has up to this point in my life. To this day I still watch it and forget that Bob Hoskins and Christopher Lloyd aren't actually acting with cartoons. It holds up incredibly well and is the perfect example of how what can happen when perception meets reality. A look at the music that influenced me.There's so much music that I love that wasn't mentioned here! Here's a few more artists and albums that mean a lot to me!Soen, a band very similar to Tool. Complex rhythms, inspirational lyrics, and all around beautiful. Our Lady Peace - Starseed: an excellent album full of powerful anthems and heartfelt tracks.Harvey Danger - Where Have All the Merrymakers Gone: A surprisingly emotional rock album about living through loss, loneliness, trauma, and turmoil. If all you've ever heard was Flagpole Sitta, you're missing out, because the rest of the album has much more depth... And a song about the Hitchcock classic Vertigo.Yonaka - An artist with truly powerful and emotional vocals and lyrics.Troi Irons - An incredible artist with an incredible voice and a lot of sincerity and compassion. Grandson - An artist with a lot on his mind. Most of his music is centered around political outrage and social justice issues... So... You know, your mileage may vary. But I love his music.I could go on and on and on, but that's enough for now.Find the unofficial soundtracks of Dark Days and Dark[er] Days of Dorothy Gale on Spotify.Dark Days of Dorothy Gale (unofficial) Soundtrackhttps://open.spotify.com/playlist/5bjCrgTamdm0RxhyOYvsdf?si=AszR3_bMSf2DEAD4nYU-4g&pi=06jh8mD3RiC6CDark[er] Days of Dorothy Gale (unofficial) Soundtrackhttps://open.spotify.com/playlist/1bBSq3QXP618HZHGwmwymT?si=c20i6btbQ_-HNA26r3n7rg&pi=o6ZlsklzQYyZKThe Grand Storyteller Playlist (both epic playlists combined)https://open.spotify.com/playlist/05HorkPnZ5tor1AiCBvVMn?si=pxopRZswQf2vQ8BewGxKWg&pi=1kTg0-XmTGi_-You can find me on TikTok: @DarkDorothyG You can contact me at DarkDaysOfDorothyGale@outlook.comYou can find even more on my other TikTok, and Instagram accounts under the alias @TheOrdinarySun If social media isn't your jam, check out the official website! https://www.DDofDG.com I'm not doing this to make money, and I'm not asking for any. Haggerty's new book, The Hour of Testing, he not only locates our era in its historical context, but he also discusses how we should spiritually live in our own time. His relevant insights and depth of thought are manifest in the concentrated reflections offered both in this book and in his podcast. In this episode, Fr. Haggerty and Andrew discuss the rise of doctrinal ambiguity, the cultural indifference to God, and the Second Coming. As we approach a new era in the Church, Fr. Haggerty's practical reflections will help any Catholic navigate the coming years in the Church's history. In this chilling Part 1 episode, we dive into the tragic and haunting case of the Harris family whose lives were brutally cut short on December 22nd, 1989. The small, tight-knit community of Dryden, NY was shaken to its core when the bodies of 39-year-old Warren Harris, his wife 41-year-old Dodie, daughter 15-year-old Shelby, and son 11-year-old Marc were found in their home just days before Christmas. For decades after this Christmas crime, Dryden, NY has been referred to as the Village of the Damned. But, for the people who call it home, this portrayal feels like a slap in the face. To the locals, Dryden is more than just a small, quiet … cursed town. The horrific murders of the Harris Family on December 22nd, 1989 were only the beginning of a series of tragic events to strike this small town. The official designation is the A616… but most people know it as the Stocksbridge Bypass. (The Deadly Stocksbridge Bypass) *** Experiencing something strange is one thing. Experiencing two strange things in two different places might be called a coincidence. But when you experience three strange things in three different places, as Chet Guthrie did – you have to wonder if maybe the weirdness if following you around. (Three Events In Three Places of Really Weird Happenings) *** The Georgian Britains were obsessed with clean air, which was not surprising… because there was practically no clean air to obsess about. Even less-so in and around the cemeteries. (The Stench of Georgian Graveyards) *** A woman typically carries a baby for nine months before pregnancy. Sometimes a bit longer, sometimes a bit shorter, but that's the average. Technology has made it possible for the baby to be born much sooner if complications were to arise, and still survive to be a healthy child. But we might have a new record on shortest pregnancy. One woman in Indonesia is claiming she gave birth after being pregnant for only one hour. (The One Hour Pregnancy) *** Heavy fog is commonplace in London, and in 1952 one particular fog rolled in for a full five days, hovering over the city. But when it finally dissipated, over 12,000 Londoners lay dead. (The Deadly Fog of 1952) *** A borrowed gun, romantically linked cousins, and a rigged jury – all the makings of a great murder trial in 1887 New Jersey. (A Mount Holly Tragedy) *** Here's an idea on how to fight the black plague… throat lozenges… made from toad vomit! Hey, it was good enough for Isaac Newton! It was his own recipe!
