Nick Kendell and Carl Dumler dig in to their initial thoughts on the Broncos' firing Rich Scangarello and hiring Pat Shurmur at offensive coordinator. Was this more about Rich not doing his job well and issues between he and Vic behind the scenes, or was it an opportunity to get a known-quantity and a coach with rapport and history with Vic Fangio in Shurmur? The truth likely lies in the middle. How does this hire change things for the Broncos going forward and what does a Shurmur offense look like? On today's episode of Building the Broncos, Nick Kendell reflects on his trip to Kansas City in the Broncos' loss at Arrowhead to the Chiefs 23-3. Despite the loss, both Carl and Nick feel good about the direction of this team. So Denver isn't going in on the road and beating a Super Bowl Contender? WHAT A SHOCK. Luckily for the Broncos, things get much easier from here. With a Lions team decimated by injuries and losers of six in a row, the Broncos could not have a better bounce back game. From the lack of weapons outside of Kenny Golladay, to the limitations of David Blough, this Lions offense is not at all threatening despite a solid offensive line. The defense has Trey Flowers and Darius Slay, but the rest is a pile of nope. Slay versus Sutton will be a heck of a matchup, but the Broncos should be able to find yards via the likes of even DaeSean Hamilton and Tim Patrick given the Lions struggles at corner. Feels like a 'get right' game! Also Carl and Nick talk about their top-20 Big Boards. Also redemption game for Brandon McManus. Speaking of Brandon, Brandon Allen is 'not it'. Fighting for a backup role in the future, he is more a question to make the 53 next year than make the backup job. Also Carl and Nick delve into the Bradley Chubb vs. Josh Allen debate after seeing Allen in action. Finally, Carl and Nick talk the Broncos draft position and say what they are thankful for this season in the Thanksgiving spirit.
