The Eagles defeated the Detroit Lions 16–9 on Sunday thanks to an outstanding effort on the defensive side of the ball. Sheil is joined by Brandon Lee Gowton of Bleeding Green Nation to discuss the victory. How were the Eagles' defense and Vic Fangio able to hold Detroit's high-powered offense to just one touchdown? Why has the offense struggled to put up points since the bye week? Is it possible the 2025 defense is better than the 2024 defense? (3:41) The pass rush improvement since Jaelan Phillips joined the team (18:53) Are other offensive players frustrated with Jalen Hurts not taking more chances? For the Top 5 at 5, Fritz hands out his five game balls from the Eagles 16-9 win over the Lions as Vic Fangio's defense dominated yet again.
Nick Sirianni once again did his very best to lose a game at the end by calling the worst timeout in sports since Chris Webber but that shouldn't overshadow the fact that Vic Fangio and his defense are single handedly saving this season. The Eagles beat the Lions 16-9 and I talk a lot about the fantastic defensive performance and the studs on that side of the ball and then I talk a lot about the other side and the horrible offense that this team continues to play.https://sportspyder.com/nfl/philadelphia-eagles/news?pid=4349

Week 10 of the Philadelphia Eagles 2025-2026 season is now in the books as they beat the Green Bay Packers by a score of 10-7 up at Lambeau Field. In what could have been one of the least offensive inspiring games of the season, this was a win for the Eagles defense. They are now 7-2 on the season and at the top of the NFC East division. The Eagles offense went back to their predictability, which is now a concern, once again, moving forward. The Packers defense knew the snap count. They knew which plays were being run. They made it easy for the Packers defense. Offenses cannot get far in the playoffs running the same kind of plays over and over again. The offensive slog was both the fault of Kevin Patullo AND Nick Sirianni. We've seen this for far too long. Jalen Hurts was off and not playing at a high level this week, and the offensive line played terrible football that adversely impacted the rushing game. The defense was this week's highlight! What a debut game for Jaelan Phillips as he made his presence known coming off the edge. Always getting pressure. He was an overall disturber throughout the game. The linebackers and secondary had a pretty stellar game as well. Credit goes to Vic Fangio who had his defense ready to play this week!As always, we gave our top themes, thoughts and opinions from the game on offense, defense, and special teams, plus we graded each unit to close out the show.SUBSCRIBE on YouTube: youtube.com/@thephiladelphiasportstableHead over to our website for all of our podcasts and more: philadelphiasportstable.comFollow us on BlueSky:Jeff: @jeffwarren.bsky.socialErik: @brickpollitt.bsky.socialFollow us on Threads:Jeff: @mrjeffwarrenErik: @slen1023The Show: @philadelphiasportstableFollow us on Twitter/X:Jeff: @Jeffrey_WarrenErik: @BrickPollittThe Show: @PhiladelphiaPSTFollow us on Instagram:Jeff: @mrjeffwarrenErik: @slen1023The Show: @philadelphiasportstable.Follow Jeff on TikTok: @mrjeffwarrenFollow us on Facebook: facebook.com/PhiladelphiaSportsTable

From coaching changes to schematic weaknesses, this episode uncovers the real story behind both teams' seasons. Explores Eagles' offensive identity crisis under new coordinator Kevin Patullo, with stagnant plays and second-half collapses masking their red zone dominance. Dives into Vic Fangio's masterful defense, its two-high shells, and how Packers can attack edges with power runs and passes from 12 personnel. Compares Packers' top-tier EPA and success rates to Eagles' middling rankings, emphasizing context over negativity and the need to avoid critical mistakes. Highlights key players like Jalen Hurts' struggles vs. zone, Saquon Barkley's dip, and opportunities for Christian Watson and Romeo Dobbs. This episode is brought to you by PrizePicks! The NFL trade deadline has passed, and the Packers stood pat. We break down why that might've been the right call, but a few moves the Packers should've made like Keion White and Asante Samuel Jr.. Then, it's on to the biggest matchup of the year: Packers vs. Eagles under the lights on Monday night with playoff seeding at stake.Ben previews how Green Bay's offensive line will handle the Eagles' newly loaded pass rush featuring Jaelan Phillips and Jalen Carter, what Jordan Love must do differently against Vic Fangio's coverage-heavy defense, and how the Packers can stay efficient without Tucker Kraft. He also dives into the game plan for containing Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown, and this running game in cold conditions, how Green Bay's secondary can hold up, and why offensive efficiency and smarter decision-making on 4th downs could decide the NFC's top seed.
The Eagles come off their bye week for a Week 10 marquee matchup on the NFL Schedule, as they head to historic Lambeau Field for a Monday Night Football battle with the 5-2-1 Green Bay Packers. Jalen Hurts has led the Birds to a 6-2 start on the heels of a Super Bowl ring, and there were defensive reinforcements added to fold at the trade deadline, with high-energy edge rusher Jaelen Phillips and two cornerbacks, with the standout former-Packer, Jaire Alexander, and former-Jets defender, Michael Carter II. This game is crucial in the race for the NFC's top seed. AJ Brown was not traded, as again we see the fictional delusional stories and 'sources' of the national media exposed as frauds. DeVonta Smith is on a career-best season trajectory and the march to January is in progress for the Super Bowl Champions. The Sixers are young and exciting but still inconsistent, and certainly not Finals contenders, despite the phenomenal start from Tyrese Maxey and their exciting rookie Edgecombe. The Embiid era of dominance is well in the rearview, Paul George is a disaster of an acquisition, and the team has gaping holes compared to other East contenders. The Eagles are sitting at 6-2 with a big lead in the division heading into their bye week. Sheil Kapadia is joined by Zach Berman of The Athletic to discuss the progress of the reigning Super Bowl champs. They analyze this week's trade in which Philly acquired five-year veteran slot corner Michael Carter II from the Jets in exchange for John Metchie III. How will Carter fit into Vic Fangio's defense, and could we see Cooper DeJean play more outside corner (02:37)? The trade deadline is quickly approaching, and the Eagles could use some help in the pass rush. Who are some possible targets at the deadline (16:57)? Will the Eagles offense see more improvement after the bye week (30:07)? What about on defense? Could there be progress when some players come back from injury (35:50)? What does the rest of the season look like for A.J. Brown (38:29)? How will the Eagles finish out the season (44:12)? Plus, a mailbag full of airport and plane etiquette dilemmas (57:57). What did Vic Fangio and the defense do to stifle Jaxson Dart and the Giants offense (41:38)? Week 8 of the Philadelphia Eagles 2025-2026 season is now in the books as they beat the New York Giants by by a score of 38-20 at The Linc. This was the type of statement win this team needed right before their bye week. The offense was dominant. The defense was dominant. They are now 6-2 on the season and at the top of the NFC East division. We all wanted to see the offensive line “get right” this week. We all wanted to see Saquon Barkley have a dominant game. Both happened as the offensive line opened up tons of gaps for the rushing attack to flourish. Barkley rushed the ball 14 times and totaled 150 yards, plus he had a receiving touchdown. Tank Bigsby also rushed the ball 9 times for 104 yards. Jalen Hurts also threw for 4 touchdowns today as well. The Eagles offense was working on all cylinders. The defense was also playing at a high level this week. 5 total sacks and 7 tackles for a loss. Plus, Zach Baun could be the most dominant Eagles linebacker we've seen in quite some time: a sack, 2 tackles for a loss, two passes defended, and a quarterback hit. Vic Fangio had his defense ready to play this week!As always, we gave our top themes, thoughts and opinions from the game on offense, defense, and special teams, plus we graded each unit to close out the show.SUBSCRIBE on YouTube: youtube.com/@thephiladelphiasportstableHead over to our website for all of our podcasts and more: philadelphiasportstable.comFollow us on BlueSky:Jeff: @jeffwarren.bsky.socialErik: @brickpollitt.bsky.socialFollow us on Threads:Jeff: @mrjeffwarrenErik: @slen1023The Show: @philadelphiasportstableFollow us on Twitter/X:Jeff: @Jeffrey_WarrenErik: @BrickPollittThe Show: @PhiladelphiaPSTFollow us on Instagram:Jeff: @mrjeffwarrenErik: @slen1023The Show: @philadelphiasportstable.Follow Jeff on TikTok: @mrjeffwarrenFollow us on Facebook: facebook.com/PhiladelphiaSportsTable

Ron Jaworski joins the 94 WIP Morning Show and expressed concerns about the Eagles. Both on offense and defensive lines, the Eagles have had issues. The Giants were the nastier team and bullied the Eagles. Vic Fangio was trying to manufacture pressure, but with limited personnel on the defense, there are some issues. Jaws thinks AJ Brown is here to stay. Jaws doesn't believe Carson Wentz is great anymore, but is worried about the Vikings' defense.
What a horrific night for Philly sports! Sheil is joined by Brandon Lee Gowton of Bleeding Green Nation to discuss the Eagles nightmare loss to the New York Giants. What's the overarching view of this team? Sheil and BLG discuss just how mediocre this offense has been all season. This was the worst game defensively since Vic Fangio took over as well.
